You're a billionaire. Which show would you bring back?

I didn’t know there was a Movie version until a couple of years ago!

I used to love the TV series, too…

**Max Headroom ** and MST3K, and

The Man and the Challenge

Of course I meant what happened after the ending of the second season of Carnivale, not Twin Peaks.
Twin Peaks ending was pretty definitive (for David Lynch).
No, I want to know what happens to Sophie in Carnivale.
What is the Omega?

Fawlty Towers or Seinfeld.

Another vote for WKRP.

Preferably with a young, hot Jan Smithers.

I’d still try to resurrect it, I think (I am a billionaire after all,so I could buy some botox). I would set it modern day, I’d offer several of the original cast members contracts (particularly Maurice, Shelley/Holling, Marilyn and [recurring role]Barbara Semanski) but for Rob Morrow, John “Chris” Corbett, Janine “Maggie” Turner and Darren “Ed” Burroughs (who I never could stand as an actor as a character) I’d limit it to guest appearances and not be upset if they declined. Then I’d infuse new well thought out characters. Some would be connected to the original characters (Maurice’s 30-ish biracial (Korean/American) grandson, perhaps, or one of Holling’s grandchildren [mentioned but never seen and, like Maurice’s, through an illegitimate child he didn’t know he had] or we could fudge just a bit with the age of his/Shelley’s daughter and make her about 19 instead of 15.) but others would be, like Joel, newcomers (though not doctors).

Imperative would be that its filmed in Roslyn, WA and true to the original in spirit, characterization, and quirkiness (but not too much- it went overboard in the last couple of seasons). Late 80-something Walt (a retired broker in the series) is now a dot-com millionaire richer than Maurice, perhaps, Lester Haynes (the American Indian real estate mogul) could have gone from millionaire to billionaire the same way, and they endow a state of the art (but very small) university in Ciciely which brings in more characters. Leonard (Graham Greene’s shaman) is now the town’s doctor (having gotten his medical license in the last few years) when one is needed- do not attempt to replace Joel.

MAYBERRY, 2006 might be interesting as well. Andy Griffith and the few surviving cast members could be around for occasional seasoning but the focus would be on the young new characters. I think it would be interesting for people to see life in a small southern town in the 21st century where the kids are listening to Eminem and passionate for the net and enjoying the new Indian place, but at the same time it’s still the same Mayberry.

  1. Dead Like Me - it was and is my favorite show. I was heartbroken when it went off the air.

  2. Sports Night

  3. Joan of Arcadia

Actually, upon further cogitation:

I’d like to resurrect my shows on HBO or Showtime, so they can feature gratuitous nudity and violence.

Firefly Reborn - An HBO Original Series

(Opening shot - tracking down onto Serenity, in through a port. We see the crew at work and play. Jayne raiding the pantry. Mal woring in the cargo bay. The camera tracks into the portside shuttle, where Inara, Kaylee, River and Zoe are entangled in what can only be described as a game of Naked Twister.)

Kaylee: River, that’s not a dot, that’s my butt.

I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your cable service.

Mal doing WHAT? I would say I would rather see the men naked but the idea of them nekkid and touching each other isn’t what I am wanting to watch.

I know that they’re being promised, but I’ll wait until they show up before I set my TiVo. Anyway I’m happy that I can save the bucks.

Actually, the typo was supposed to read “Mal working in the cargo bay.” Jayne isn’t anywhere near him.

Two shows I loved that were cut down in their prime would be impossible to bring back: Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Too much time has passed.

Unless I could use some of my money building a TIME MACHINE!

Otherwise, I would bring back V.

Moonlighting - with Glenn Gordon Caron producing.

The Time Tunnel with 2006 special effects - anyone remember this show?

And I second The Green Hornet and WKRP.

Amen!

I got nuthin new to add. Just throwing in my support for Farscape, Wonderfalls, and Firefly.

Time Tunnel!!! Wow, I loved that show. I have a TiVo wishlist up for it, but it hasn’t come around yet. Back in the day, when the SciFi channel had only bad horror movies and short-lived 60s and 70s shows, I could catch it every morning. I’d love a new version.

Quantum Leap (we’ll forget the last season)
