I don’t even drink beer, but I love living in Pennsylvania because people tell me all the time: “My God, you can get a Yuengling any time you want!”
My husband drinks Yuengling all the time when he drinks lager. (They also now make a Yuengling Light whch from what I understand is not bad for a light beer.)
When he doesn’t drink Yuengling, my husband goes for that other Pennsylvania classic, Rolling Rock (the only beer I will EVER even consider drinking).
Yes, Yuengling does indeed rule. AFAIK, only Molson is an older beer in all of North America. I was so disappointed when they finally started shipping it to Central New York–the week before I graduated.
The best place in the world to enjoy a Yuengling is at a Reading Phillies baseball game. It’s minutes from the brewery so it’s fresh, and it doesn’t even cost $5 for a very nicely sized draft.
I’m surprised we’ve gotten this far in the discussion and no one has mentioned Rogue Brewery: http://www.rogue.com/ They’ve got my vote for the best line of beers in the US.

I remember the first time I had my Dad over to the new house and I handed him a Yuengling. (We live in FL, I’ve had it in PA, and he had never heard of it).
He yelled at me for serving him (a Genessee man) a chinese beer.
I’m in NC and they just started carrying it down here.
I think it’s great, but as someone who lived in Germany for three years as a kid and took four semesters of German in college, the pronounciation of the name kills me.
Yingling is good, but IMHO FatTire and Magic Hat are much nicer. If we could bring Canada into the loop. I’d say La Fin Du Monde kicks all their butts…
Oddly enough, when I last toured the Pottsville brewery, one of the items displayed in the tasting room was a letter from a gentleman who had been to China at one point in his life. He spoke of trying some of the local beers and had included the label from one.
It was a Chinese beer plainly labeled “Yuengling”.
