Zombieland - Walkin' dead spoilers!

Just got back from watching it; would see it tonight if I had the spare cash. Very good movie.

I can see it being compared to Shawn Of The Dead, but to me it is much closer to Army Of Darkness. Woody’s character would have gotten along just fine with Ash.

Jesse Eisenberg’s mannerisms are similar, but more neurotic and less ironic humor and more dry wit. He acts similarly in *Adventureland *and with a dickish twist in The Squid and the Whale.

I’ll join you in that assessment. I guess I liked the idea of Woody H. on a cross-country zombie kill-fest/search for twinkies better than the film itself.

I noticed that Emma Stone called him “Florida” at one point. I wonder if that indicates a continuity error or a re-write?

Tallahase is in Florida.

Really enjoyed it. It wasn’t great, but it was funny in a way I really enjoy.

Too bad that the narrator character is so much like Michael Cera. The actor did a really good job, but they are just so similar. (It’s late; I realize I’m not explaining this well). Loved seeing Abigail Breslin in this movie! She probably has a better shot at a real career than Lindsay Lohan. Who would have thunk?

Oh & I can’t find my spoiler instructions right now, but possibly the funniest line in the movie had something to do with someone’s regrets…

The actor was pretty much playing himself. He was on Conan recently, and he’s exactly the same as the character in the movie.

Yeah, and Eisenberg is like five years older than Cera, so he’s been that guy longer.

Really fun flick, by the by. I was the man cackling in my theater – surrounded by a bunch of humorless dweebs that were apparently either out for an equally humorless gorefest or too cool to laugh.

This is such a great way to describe the movie. I normally despise Zombie movies–even Shaun of the Dead, which had some very funny parts, didn’t do much for me. Zombieland though–hell, there are barely any zombies in it (relative to other zombie movies)! I mean, they show up every now and then, but the humor comes from the characters reaction to the weird-ass situation more so than the zombies themselves.

Fun movie.

408? And what’s this ‘first iteration’ of buck iteration you speak of?

He meant 406. Eisenberg lived in 408, the girl lived in 406 and he referred to her as 406.

Buck was the name of Harrelson’s son. The first time the story is told we are told that Buck is a puppy. Later we find out Buck was his son.

Well, I’m happy that you’re so cool. I think I really need to stop posting here for a while. Thanks.

Have you seen it yet? It’s not that I think it’s particularly lame for a tag line (though I am incredibly cool), it’s that it literally appears as if some marketing exec looked at the final cut of the film and said, ‘You know, we need something to write on the poster. Can we do a reshoot and get the boys in here for ADR? Billy the Intern, you’ve got five minutes to come up with something for them to say.’

Yes, I have seen it. I barely even noticed the line in the movie. If it hadn’t been for the promotional materials, I doubt that I would have noticed it at all. Then again, I didn’t watch it with a bunch of cooler-than-thou hipsters who winced when it was said. If anything felt forced, it was the cameo.

Did anyone else have early misgivings about playing a prank on a nervous guy who has a shotgun close at hand? I muttered to my girlfriend “I don’t like where this is going…”

Oh I had a feeling things were going to go back as soon as we found out he wasn’t really a zombie. Still was a great ending to that little section.

Except he made a grave mistake - he forgot to double tap.

Another vote for laughing my ass off. Funniest movie I’ve seen in quite some time.

There were a few people talking to the screen at this point in my theater, too, myself included. Maybe this sounds pathetic, but I was actually really crushed by what happened to him. Sadder than I was over Woody Harrelson’s dog boy.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Since it was a comedy and didn’t really spend that much time developing a mythology I forgave a lot I might not otherwise have.

Such as why electricity was working everywhere several months after the last time anybody was maintaining the grid.

Or why exactly it would be that hard to find a Twinkie.

Or how the zombies are staying alive now that it has been months since they had people to eat (since anything that would normally kill a human pretty much kills them I assume they’re alive in some way and not truly undead).

But the only thing that truly rang false for me was that Wichita and Little Rock finally get to the amusement park and apparently forget that there are zombies around even if not inside the park and that they’re attracted to noise. I wish the writing had done something to avoid that stupidity.

Lots of fun otherwise, though. Liked the cameo though my first reaction on seeing the BM on the gate was Bette Midler. That might have been better.

I was thinking Barry Manilow.
