Hyperlinks.

I think thats what they are called.
Where you hide the link and rename it in blue letters.
I used to know how to do it, not anymore.

Find an example post. Click on "quote" to see the code. Examine and learn. It's simple.

Copy the link out of your browser, then click on the on the odd looking hyperlink symbol above the message box. If should be second from the right over the message box in the Quick Reply or if you Quote someone. Paste the link in the popup and click OK.

Did you click on "quote"? Did you see the coding? Can you extrapolate from an example to what you want to do?

p.s. Does anyone know the escape character for this forum? Had to cheat a bit to make those links show. Hope it doesn't cause some browsers to go weird.

It would be easier to help you if you were a little more forthcoming with what you're trying to do, what you're doing, and what it is that you find confusing or unhelpful.

The answer to this question is important. What other people have told you is correct for this message board, but on other sites or in other contexts different formats may be used.

This is right but a little confusingly written.

Copy the url of the site that you want to link to. Do this by highlighting the url in it's entirety (left click and drag over the url until it is all in blue in Windows) and then hitting the "Ctrl" and "c" button at the same time.

Type your reply in the reply box and highlight the word or words that you want to turn into a link. Click on the icon at the top of the reply box that looks like a globe with a chain link under it. A dialogue box will pop up and give you a place to paste the url of the site you copied earlier. Hold down the "Ctrl" and "c" button simultaneously and the url will paste into the box. Hit "OK." Done.

Ctrl-V on the last step, not ctrl-C.

You can always use Preview to test what the final output will look like. It's a very good idea to use Preview always before posting; you never know where you might have accidentally screwed up and it gives you a second chance.

You want the combo.

There's a switch at the bottom of the edit window to "Automatically parse links in text" you can deselect, and it will not form a link.

Or you can use tags.

1) Highlight the word(s) you wish to link

2) click on the hyperlink icon - that's the blue/green planet with three links of a chain. This one.

3) enter the URL

4) hit 'enter'

That's all there is to it.
