"24" Season 2, Episode 13 - 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (SPOILERS)

So, regardless of whichever of Marie or Rogue Soldier has the bomb, I guess one big question now is… Where are they really planning to detonate it (assuming that the airplane bit was intended to be a decoy from the get-go)? Still L.A.? Or perhaps somewhere else?

As soon as I saw Freshly-Showered Kim in the tight tank top, I thought of all you guys.
I was hoping she’d run for you.

Isn’t that sweet?

I don’t think the truck was planned. Omar told Marie he was going to fly the bomb. They kissed and then Marie saw CTU coming. “What should we do?” She asked. I think the decoy plan was what they came up with.

Now the 7th Soldier, he may have been planning to steal the bomb all along. . . along with the mysterious Senator and the hopefully soon to be fried Sherri.

I’m also thinking that the 7th soldier has had his own plans for the bomb right from the beginning. There’s no way that Marie and the 3rd stooge could jury rig a decoy nuke that would fool a bomb disarmer for as long as it did. This makes me think that the 7th soldier guy maybe had a decoy ready so he could steal the real one.

Oh yeah, and was I hearing things or did Tony Almaeda tell Jack " ‘M’ as in ‘Mommy’, ‘D’ as in ‘Dildo’ " when he was reading off the tail number of the terrorist plain?

Tony incorrectly said “M as in Mama.” Should have been “Mike” And “D as in Delta.” (which was correct)

What irked me was that he said “as in” instead of just saying “hanger Mike Delta seven.”

Two points. Obviously.

Poor Elisha Cuthbert. She’s cemented her place in history on almost-porn celebrity sites for the remainder of time. Not that Maxim and FHM didn’t help any.

When Jack told the driver to pull up next to the plane, and began to climb out the sunroof, did anyone else think he was going to pull an Indiana Jones and climb up to the cockpit and duke it out with Hapless Confused Terrorist Guy (Omar)? That woulda been cool.

As an aside, I happened upon the BBC’s 24 site, which blows Fox’s site out of the water. Wallpapers, games, trivia, screensavers, all kinds of goodies. Only drawback is that they just showed the first episode of Season 2. There’s a Spoiler and a Non-Spoiler message board there, and it seems like the Spoiler board is caught up with Fox’s scheduling.

No, the fake-out bomb wasn’t planned. Remember the Bomb Disarmer? He said that it probably contained the bomb at one point, but it’s gone now. I also thought that the Van had the bomb in it when it was driving off.

My question is why the CTU didn’t seal off the airport? I mean, the terrorists obviously knew they were coming, what with the loud sirens and all. The fact that a van could just waltz right out of there makes no sense at all, especially with the threat of a nuclear device somewhere on the premises. Considering they didn’t drive off until approx. 1/2 hour to 45 minutes after CTU arrived, CTU had ample time to set up a perimeter.

And YES, Sherry is finally gonna get whats coming to her. I hope, I hope, I hope. Of course, seeing how shocked Palmer was at the news, you know he’s just gonna go soft on her. No defibrillator.

Oh, and Kim. Wow. There’s no describing how stupid she is. It’s like watching a train wreck. She’s just telling people about the bomb now. Oh, my Dad says…blah blah blah. Ugh. At least her new outfit is appealing.

I don’t think the driver was the 7th commando. Remember, in the scene with Marie and Omar, there was a third man who was with them, who wasn’t dressed as a commando. Whoever the 7th man is, I don’t think that the terrorists know of his existence. My guess is that he’s connected in some way to Bob Warner. If Bob and Marie are in cahoots, then that makes it a whole new ballgame.

Not necessarily. I don’t know exactly where Norton Airfield is, but a Google search puts it in the San Bernardino area, which is a good 80 to 100 miles outside of downtown L.A. Kim’s last known position was somewhere along the 118, probably in the Santa Clarita/Sylmar area, which is 40 miles the other direction. So she’s a good 150 miles away from the bomb (as well is most of L.A., apparently) and given that speed travels at 5mi/sec, it would take 12½ minutes for the sound to reach her, even if it could travel that far. (Could it?) She might have seen or felt it, but there’s a whole mountain range between those areas.

I wonder if psycho Kim’s new boyfriend is really faking or not. I just can’t think of a plausible reason for him to really hear all the L.A. stations go dead and all the outlying stations to report “seeing a big flash”. If he is faking…why?? I don’t think he’s a rapist.

Sherri is soooo evil. I’m starting to really like her.

This was a really great episode!

Some stuff happened…and then there was KIM’S NIPPLES!!..and then I think maybe some other stuff happened, but I’m not sure…brain fuzzy…

But seriously, folks…

No, that was pretty obvious to me. As soon as they showed the truck, I thought, “There goes the bomb.”

Although if they get it off the airfield, I’m going to have some issues with the writers. The CTU/LAPD/FBI/Every-other-law-enforcement-angency-in-southern-CA ought to have that place locked up tighter than Kim’s tank top…Kim’s tank top…

Sorry, what was I talking about?

Okay, good point – that would make sense if the current situation is now a “Plan B” on the bomb. Although when the bomb disarmer said that it contained the bomb at one point, I was thinking that this may have been done intentionally just to fake the radiation reading (i.e. another detail in a false trail).

And did this device have the trigger in it? The thing that Marie worked so hard to retrieve from Marko’s locker? If so, does this render the real bomb unusable, without it?

And are we going to get Kim completely topless by the end of this day?

There is no Norton Airfield in Los Angeles. There was a Norton AFB in San Bernardino, but it was closed.

If it was the north end of the San Fernando Valley, there is a very small airport called Whiteman, but that wasn’t the site being used as that field is pretty small.

I would think that Van Nuys Airport was used for the airport scenes. Or maybe Palmdale. The latter is big and not used nearly as often as Van Nuys.

I thought that Kim was in the Angeles National Forest area. There was some mention of her being in Angeles right before the survivalist guy found her.

I was basing the ‘hearing the bomb’ thing on the fact that folks in TX heard the Columbia explosion and felt the ground shaking for minutes afterward and it was, what, 30 miles above the earth? Seems like it’s not too much of a stretch to think a nuclear explosion set off on the ground would send vibrations through the ground a lot farther.

KGS, how hard do you think it’d be to fake Kim out? He put the headset on her and tuned in to non-existent stations and told her what he wanted her to believe. Hell, he could have told her that aliens had landed and needed semen to power their ship and it was up to Kim to collect it, and I think she’d have fallen for it. He either wants to get her some, or wants to deliver her to the cops for a big reward.

Well, I could have done without the gratuitous boob shot of Kim after her shower…and Ivylad urging her to hunch her shoulders a bit more while she was sitting on the sofa.

Looks like Kim will have to defend her honor from Mountain Man.

I think Marie has the bomb in the truck. But wouldn’t they have the airport sealed off? How would she get away?

Ooooooohhhhhh…looks like Roger’s selling out Sherri. And what was up with the Michigan senator? “We think Gluck’s in cahoots with Coral Snake.” The Prez: “Oh, Sherri knows Gluck. Let’s bring her in and give her access to everything.” I wanted to slap him and say, “You deserve to lose your presidency to a military coup, you twit!”

Looks like the 7th Coral Snake soldier killed his comrades…maybe he’s off chasing Kim himself?

The radiaton from the box the fake bomb was in…is it lethal? And how come no one was wearing protective gear, trying to disarm what they thought was a nuclear weapon? And Marie and Terrorist Pilot have the time to get a fake bomb in place? Marie looks out the door and the calvary is zooming into the airport, so she didn’t have a lot of advance warning.

I thought Jack was going to jump on the wing of the airplane…couldn’t they have simply run the jeep into the wing?

I thought he’d be wing walking too. I suppose they didn’t ram the plane because they didn’t want to risk an explosion. I was surprised Jack shot Omar. What if there had been a deadman switch on the bomb so that it would go off even if Omar were killed?

Terrorists these days. Never thinking ahead.

I think survivalist guy really thinks the bomb went off. He WANTS to believe it. You saw how excited he got when Kim told him about the bomb plot. I was right, told ya so, etc. I think he’s going to flip out when Kim tries to get out, thinking there’s radiation and he’ll die if she opens the door. She’ll probably end up killing him or something. Who cares, as long as she doesn’t change clothes.

I also think the terrorists thought they had the real bomb in the plane. I don’t think the terrorists would bother with a decoy, they would probably just detonate the bomb when they got caught. It looked to me like that’s what Omar wanted to do after the plane stopped, except he knew he would fail. He probably thought he would get a chance to detonate it later. I think the snake team at some point pulled a switcheroo on the terrorists and put the decoy bomb there. Then the 7th soldier stole the real bomb for evil purposes yet to be revealed. Although I had the same thought about the bomb being in the truck, and I’m equally surprised that the truck and Marie were not caught leaving the hangar/airport.

I think Palmer was suspicious of Sherry the whole time, except that she was providing information he didn’t have, so he let her continue. Now she’s in big trouble, woohoo!

The truck drove off and then Marie went back into the hangar and said goodbye to Omar. Somebody else has the truck. I think Marie is still in her own car.

Yep – I think Roger told the Prez the truth as he knew it (or thought he knew it). He just thought the bomb would be stopped at the last second and his boys would get the credit. Now that he knows something is messed up and the bomb might actually go off, I think he will cooperate and spill whatever beans are necessary.

I love how the secret service guy was interrogating him. No anger, no raised voice, no violent manner. Just the simple repeated question, “Who else knew about the bomb, Mr. Stanton?” (ZAAAPPPP!!!)

I don’t think so – inside a bomb casing, I presume it would be shielded somehow until the bomb is detonated. I think they just used something to measure whether any radiation showed up (Geiger counter, or the like) – they were catching traces of it, I guess.

And Max Carnage:

I agree. And I think Kim’s still supposed to be pretty close to L.A. And I don’t think Mountain Guy wants to turn her in for reward. I think your other guess is right – he wants to get him some.

At this point, please allow me to remind everybody of my theory from two threads ago.

Okay, so I was wrong about the “no electricity”. And about the implied beard…

No – gotta disagree there. I think he was definitely faking it. When he was on the radio, he claimed (to Kim), “All the L.A. stations went dead.” and then he said something about “So and So County’s talking about a flash”. He faked hearing a report from another county outside the area.

He just wants some of what he saw in that thin damp t-shirt. And now he knows he has leverage, too (“Well, I could just turn you over to the ranger that came by”).

I’m probably alone here, but when I saw Grizzly Dillon’s cabin, the first thing I thought of was “Ash is going to kick your ass if you wake up the Evil Dead again.”
