Simpsons: Homer and Marge learn the wonders of buying stuff out of their price range and then returning it the next day. Lisa donates $50 to nelson so he can start a small business.
Family Guy: Brian reads the newest book by Rush Limbaugh and subsequently starts to worship the ground he walks on.
Cleveland Show: It’s the Cleveland Show as if it were an actual sitcom, and it was filmed live.
American Dad isn’t on here cuz they already have a thread.
Grandpa giving his inheritence early. This was done before
Marge returning things, done before and to make matters worse this is a steal off of the King of Queens. At least on that show, Carrie had a prior history of buying way too much.
I love the Simpsons and I can’t understand why if you can go to any of the numerous Simpsons fan sites you can find people on the Internet thinking of fresh things for the Simpson Family to do, yet writers paid a lot of money continue to recycle and try to insult the fans with throw away lines like Lisa saying “When you’re on long enough you’re bound to repeat yourself.”
Cleveland was very boring, I can’t even remember it, except that it was a spoof of a live show.
As usual Family Guy had it’s moments but not enough of them.
I wonder if anybody who watched Family Guy picked up on the political message it was going for. I thought it was a brilliant way to satirize the current “enthusiasm gap” that pundits are saying Democrats have.
I thought the Simpsons was horridly unfunny. I ended up taking a shower halfway through.
I liked the Cleveland show. I thought the “live” show was pretty humorous.
Family Guy was “meh” for me. I’ve never been a big fan of Brian and the only time I like when he’s a major player in an episode is when he and Stewie are together.
I don’t understand how they got Rush Limbaugh to repeatedly insult conservatives. Did they creatively edit his words after the fact, or does he just really love Family Guy so much that he’s willing to parody his own positions like that?
I thought Cleveland did some really funny things with the live show bit. Seems like Simpsons was deliberately trying to make the fans say, “Simpsons did it!” Family Guy could have been much better (and man, for being a radio guy, Rush was just awful doing voice work). American Dad was pretty good – I love Patrick Stewart on that show. Is he just willing to read anything put in front of him for a buck, or does he genuinely like to have fun with his Shakespearean voice? It’s awesome either way.
His name was in the credits, so I assume it was really him reading the lines. In which case, I give him a lot of credit for his self-deprecating sense of humor. I never got that vibe from him before.
Seth MacFarlane was on Leno saying that it was indeed Rush who was a great sport about everything and was a dream to work with.
Leno and Seth (gasp!) agreed that Conservatives are a lot easier to work with when it comes to political satire because they seem to have less of a stick up their ass about these types of things. Democrats are too stiff lipped for it.
Not exact quotes, but that was very much the jist of what was said.
