$2,000 for sex with....

At this point in my life, yes, I most certainly would. I’m not married and need the money…badly.

I’m glad you liked my post. I run an adult site – I write and publish erotic stories for pay. It is not at all the same thing as prostitution, but it is the sex industry. I know (online) some people who work as bondage models, bondage video producers and other bondage site owners. (No, I do not know Sarah Kozer. I do know the gf of the guy who owns site she modelled for.)

Most of them strike me as decent people just like anyone else, who got into it primarily out of their interest in bondage, and because their particular talents lead them there.

As a rule, they all have plenty of integrity and self-respect, and they are not at all immoral, even the ones whom I’ve seen videos of pressing their genitals against a vibrator while bound and gagged. I suspect that’s because bondage is a niche market – there’s not much money in it compared to mainstream stuff, so most folks who are doing it commercially are also doing it as a form of personal expression, not JUST because of the money.

I wrote the essay because my experiences indicate that working in the sex industry can be a matter of happenstance, talent and inclination rather than the morality play that a lot of people see it as.

That said, if your personal morality makes you feel that having sex with a married man is a violation of your integrity, you are well advised not to do it. There are a lot of people in the sex industry who have specific things they will or will not do because they feel they’re immoral. Once you reject traditional morality, you still have responsibility to live up to your own personal morality, because it’ll bug you if you don’t.

If you want the money then go for it. With the extra money you can get from the Jerry Springer show you can meet up with Otto at the next whore convention and treat her to lunch.

If what I just said hurts then don’t do it. Otto has made her case well, she doesn’t care what other people think.

I would add that the comparing a regular job to sexually debasing oneself is a poor analogy to the situation.

I second the sex industry thing, but yes it is simply a matter of your own personal morality.

I ran an adult site for a couple of year, and did some modeling myself. Because I got into it for the right reasons “for me” (I had run into some financial problems and I was not going to allow my children to suffer because of it) I had pride in what I did, however once those problems were solved I did not feel comfortable continuing to earn money this way.

That was me, I met many smart, independent humans who enjoy the industry.

Tiny riddle:
Otto is attracted to men, but isn’t a woman.

You do the math.

And another from the repressed/judgemental team is heard from.

With all the hostile moralizing in this thread, I’m surprised it hasn’t gone to the pit.

Calling someone a whore is an insult.

Most prostitutes I’ve known wouldn’t appreciate being called that.

It is derogatory, narrow minded, and hostile.

So, accepting money for sex equates to not being bright enough to use a condom?

Well… not wrong, just with more neck action.

Math? What am I supposed to do, add up his digits?

Well said and well done. I always thought that I cannot be bought (at least not for money), but then again, nobody bothered to make me an offer, yet. So it’s refreshing to hear that some people indeed cannot be bought

sigh

More moral posturing.

It’s a sublet. If anything it’s a rent to own situation.

Just stop when you get to 21.

Wow, this hasn’t happened to me in a long time: I see what you wrote, I understand the words themselves, but… I am lost as to what you want to tell me, heh

The logical response to this post is to ask if you’re planning on attending the next Asshat Convention. But of course this is IMHO so I won’t do that.

If what I just said hurts then don’t do it. Otto has made her case well, she doesn’t care what other people think.

If you prick her, does she not bleed?

I would add that the comparing a regular job to sexually debasing oneself is a poor analogy to the situation.

I think a good case could be made for the notion that prolonged work at low paying service sector jobs is degrading, primarily because the poverty it engenders can permanently damage one’s self-esteem and expose one to many health risks, such as homelessness and poor medical care. The sex industry at least pays well in many instances.

My riddle is not tiny.

Yeah, get it right. I’m a man-whore.

And may I compliment *Magiver on his or her nose? Such a lovely shade of blue!

Don’t feel bad, I’m sure you’re doing your best.

Oh, I’m sure it hasn’t been that long of a time.

Yes. After all, I’m the one calling people whores, denigrating prostitutes, and dragging down the op with moralizing about how terrible it is on a moral level to be a prostitute.

I don’t really see how adding whiny barbs is any better, Mockingbird :stuck_out_tongue:
Care to continue in the pit or are you going to sob some more in this thread?
