I just got a call from the Browns. They’re looking to move up in the third to pick me up. They want to know what position I play so they can write it on their card.
I wonder if Bruce Campbell with his crazy athleticism would be an awesome OG. You’d think he’ll be able to pull and get to the second level like nobody’s business.
Damn, hate that Asamoah is off the board. He’d have been a steal for the Bears.
4 (68) Chiefs - Jon Asamoah, OG, Illinois.
5 (69) Raiders - Jared Veldheer, OT/OG, Hillsdale.
No idea who the guy is, but he’s a linemen, and I want my Raiders drafting linemen. Sounds like he’s a raw guy, which is fine (since Campbell is too). And unlike Campbell, he actually started 46 games (even if they weren’t in D-1).
6 (70) Ravens - Ed Dickson, TE, Oregon.
So far I love what the 49ers, Texans, Rams and Bucs have done.
Packers trade up, gotta be to nab Campbell before the Bears get a shot. Shit.
I was thinking before the draft that, with the layover between Rounds 1 and 2, there would be a lot of teams talking themselves into whoever they like that’s still on the board, and hence a lot of those butt-ass stupid “I’ll give you a 1 next year for a 2 today” type trades. Maybe it works the other way, though, and teams aren’t pressed by the clock into making a panic move. Or maybe the two things aren’t correlated either way.
Other trade notes:
– The cost to move up two spots from 13th to 11th? The 113th overall pick (4th Rd.). The cost to move up two spots from 24th to 22nd? That same 113th overall pick.
– Someone else correctly pointed out upthread that the trade that got Denver the 25th pick and Tim Tebow was really just standard market value, since the swap of 4th Rounders was almost a wash, and the 3rd Rounder was about the right price to pay to move from 43 to 25; in fact, as first reported, the trade was almost exactly even according to the standardtrade value chart. Now, however, it seems that Denverdidn’t receive a 4th Rounder in return, and apparentlythey won’t be picking in that round at all. In that case, Denver did in fact pay more than they were supposed to for the 25th overall pick (in addition to making a pretty dumb selection, IMO).
– Has anyone traded away *any *2011 draft pick so far during this draft? Apparently not. Very unusual.
– New England fleeced the Cardinals pretty hard in their move back in the 2nd Round. They slide back only 11 spots (47 to 58), but picked up a 3rd (89th overall) for their trouble.
This just in: The Eagles have written down every pick they have in the draft and placed it in a large pumpkin shaped bowl on the draft room floor. Anyone who wants to take one of their picks is welcome to do so, but please honor the hand-written note. “Just take one please!”
I wonder if it’s concerns over a possible work stoppage in 2011… what’s the value of a pick in a year they might not be playing football? Makes picks this year, for a player who can play this year, more much valuable.
TRADE!!
7 (71) Packers - Morgan Burnett, SS, Georgia Tech.
Fucking Sweet!!!
Wow, guess the Packers wanted to snipe a Safety instead of a lineman. There are a lot of very interesting options for the Bears. I want Campbell, Griffen, Decker, none are the needs I wanted them to address but I love the values.
8 (72) Bills - Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas State
Jerry is gone, one fewer OGs for the Bears. No worthwhile Safeties or CBs left. Gotta be Campbell.
9 (73) Dolphins - John Jerry, OT, Mississippi
OK…Bears are up. Campbell is there…
Do it Jerry. Don’t fuck this up again.
10 (74) Jaguars - D’Anthony Smith, DT/DE, Louisinia Tech
Gee thanks ESPN. The Bears first pick of the day and you’re fucking interviewing Tebow’s prick of a coach.
11 (75) Bears - Major Wright, S, Florida
HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
FUCK ME!!!
You dirty fucking piece of SHIT!
