2014 College Football General Thread

I didn’t tune into the game last night until about halftime, but it sure looked like there were a lot of empty seats at the Orange Bowl. What’s the deal with that?

Why is that? I’m assuming you’ve seen Oregon’s offensive line in action, right?

And another SEC-West team bites the dust, to a Wisconsin team that looked bad against OSU.

Great game; I hope the semis are this good.

Heck, who am I kidding, I hope Oregon blows FSU out. But I sure wish we had some of the injured players back.

Yeah, so much for the vaunted SEC. That was not a good Wisconsin team, with possibly the worst cadre of quarterbacks in D1 football. Auburn knew Wisconsin was going to run it every time and still Gordon went over 250 yards on them.

Yep, so far the SEC west is 2-4 in bowl games, with their only two wins from the bottom dwellers. (TAMU and ARK). Bame yet to play

SEC East is doing better. USCe, UGA, Mizzou, have won…with Tenn and Florida yet to play.

So overall the SEC is 5-4, with no losses against non Power 5 teams. (Hello Illinois)

Incidentally- when Alabama shellacked Notre Dame in the championship game a few years ago, was that their last win over a quality non-SEC school?

Define “Quality”

'Bama beat West Virginia this season.

and Virginia Tech last season.

Both teams have finished the season in the top 10 of the rankings in the last 10 years.

Wow, Michigan State… usually it’d be Sparty who’d have given away a massive lead.

Oh, and I’ve been enjoying the SEC struggles this bowl season.

Michigan State’s O line was not set for the snap of that last game-winning TD!

What a finish!

So does this mean the Horned Frogs get to claim their conference?

Well Oakminster seems to be MIA.

We might have to put out an APB if 'Bama loses tonight.

Florida State has chance to beat Oklahoma State, Oregon State, and Ohio State this year.

Pretty remarkable considering that none of the three are in their conference.

:smack:DOH!..Its Oregon…Not Oregon State…Dumb ass comment on my part!!!

my bad

That was one amazing Cotton Bowl! Love the workmanlike approach that MSU has and the way they just keep chugging away no matter what. Baylor had us whipped like rented mules and we refused to die.

Kudos to Wisconsin for a gritty win against Auburn.

But the story of the bowl season is going to be the Cotton Bowl.

Sparty On!

Neither are good teams. What happened in the past is completely meaningless in college football.

If what happened in the past is meaningless, Can you tell me how you are supposed to schedule good non conference then?

Ask Miss Cleo at the psychic hotline?

Crystal Ball?

Consult an astrologist?

Pretty much, yes.

So we can blame Miss Cleo on Baylor’s choice of non-Conference games this year?

SMU, Northwestern St, and Buffalo?

You asked about scheduling GOOD non-conference games. Choosing cupcakes is easier.

IMO, Past Performance is a better barometer than a dart board.

I think Oregon should consider rushing the passer during the second half. So far, Winston has had all day to throw.

Still, so far, so good, especially considering the Ducks lost their best receiver on the very first play of the game.

That game was over-the-top for drama. Dantonio sure has changed the culture of MSU football. That is the type of game where MSU always used to end up on the short end.
