2016 Omnibus College Football Thread

Louisville is now a member of the ACC.

And FWIW, Houston plays Louisville (in Houston) on Nov 17 so they both cannot “win out”.

Since there are five power conferences, at least one of the power conferences is going to be left out

I picked Louisville in the pick’em–but I gave it 1 confidence point. And I didn’t spot FSU 50 points.

I’ve been following Florida State football since 1987, that may be the worst performance I’ve ever seen.

That’s the most points FSU has ever given up.

I’ve been following FSU since 1982 and I can tell you that is the worst football drubbing we’ve ever experienced.

I wonder what the record is for most points any #2 ranked team has given up?

Oh, NFW, that catch was impossible. I thought I had seen everything. Unbelievable.

Go State! Way to hang in there and beat those Irish! Now our trophy case is full!

Wow, Pac-12 getting no respect in the polls, except for undefeated teams. Cal beat Texas yesterday, but Texas is still ranked #24 with 143 points in the coaches’ poll, while Cal only got 6 points in the same poll. Both teams are 2-1, and Texas’ only “big” win was beating now unranked ND. 2-1 Oregon also fell out of the rankings, after losing to now #20 Nebraska only because they refused to kick any PATs.

ETA: But I guess that’s a pretty good reason. Hard to win with a coach like that. And they even have a good kicker this year.

So Clemson and South Carolina State agree to shorten the time of the 3rd and 4th quarters to 12 minutes each? Why not change the scoring system for the game or the number of men allowed on the field? I hate these cupcake games that the small school have to play, sacrificing themselves to get money to fund their athletic budget.

I seriously think there ought to be a mercy rule in football. If you rack up a 50 point lead by halftime - by anytime - game over.

Tennessee beats Georgia with a miracle Hail Mary and North Carolina beats FSU with a 54 yard field goal as time expires!

Good Times!

You mean bad times. A beer bottle almost went though my TV as FSU choked that game away.

Okay, so how come “intentional grounding” is a loss of down and 15 yards, but spiking the ball is a free time-out?

This has always pissed me off!

Spiking the ball is also a loss of down.

The Clemson v Louisville game is the best football game I can remember in a long time. In any level.

Depends what you call “best,” but I’m not even sure it was the best game this week. The Tenn-Ga game was more exciting, and the UW-Stanford game was more satisfying (if you live in WA).

I’m a UCLA fan/alum so in not playing the fanboy card. But Louisville cane from far behind on the road and should have beat Clemson. It was a worthy #3 vs #5 matchup.

Florida has been one of my favorite SEC teams, but IMO, they were completely in the wrong about this postponement.

They could have played at LSU or even gone to a neutral field (like the Ga Dome)

I don’t know why they didn’t just play on Sunday like UGA @ USC. Although Athens is a lot closer to Columbia than Baton Rouge is to Gainesville.
