Flowers is the only guy I would have wanted to Bears to trade up for. Kid’s gonna be incredible.
Wow, feeling really good about the other NFCN team’s drafts. Which is to say, they drafted a bunch of guys I dislike.
Giants trading up…for the first TE off the board?
Edit: Another trade up…Bills finally going to take a TE?
I find it amusing that Seattle drafts a WR, and the next 3 picks (so far) are WRs. It’s like teams are seeing the WRs they want going away and are snatching what’s left.
Cowboys might be looking for their next Jason Witten, and now it looks like they’ll get him. Dammit.
Not happy about Banks going to the Giants either. He’s a good player.
I like Mayer better than Kincaid, but he’ll be fun to watch in Buffalo.
Will be a shock if Mayer doesn’t go to the Cowgirls here.
Who the fuck is the emo toddler in the Cowboys war room? What a clown show.
Probably a Jerry Jones grandkid or nephew or something.
Interesting…
Also interesting is CBS Sports had the pick about a minute ago. Is the ESPN broadcast on delay or something?
The teams find out who the pick is when the “pick is in” graphic comes up. This lets all the other teams start discussing trades and/or planning their next pick. The actual announcement on stage is a formality. Wouldn’t surprise me if the networks have access to the info one way or another.
ESPN and NFLN got shit on a couple years back for tipping every pick, likely using this same tactic.
Maybe CBS is just going with the info they have when they get it now that we’re down to the last few picks. This was the first one they put up before the announcement.
If I were the Titans or Raiders I’d trade up to 30/31 to get Levis on a 1st round deal.
Looking at Day 2.
Will be weird if the Steelers don’t kick it off by taking Joey Porter Jr.
Will Levis still sitting there and I don’t know who is gonna grab him. Any chance that Hendon Hooker leap frogs him? The Rams have an early pick and need a plan after Stafford. The Raiders, Titans and Jets are in the next 15 picks. Maybe Washington hedges its bets. Tampa is down there a ways but could be a backstop.
The big TE Mayer didn’t get picked. I feel like someone might consider moving up for him. If he’s there when the Bears are picking at the end of the 2nd, that’d be an interesting option.
Jalin Hyatt is still available. I’m not a fan, but he’s probably the best WR still available. Maybe the Panthers give him a look to replace Moore.
The OL is starting to look pretty thin right now. There’s a few early 3rd rounders who look enticing, Freeland, Tippmann, Wypler.
DL is a bit of a wasteland. There’s still a few juicy ones on the inside, but this class of Edges are really thin. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a bit of a frenzy with teams jockeying to move up to get pass rushers. I would be absolutely ecstatic of Adebawore were still there for the Bears at 53.
Yahoo Sports essentially said the same thing.
They gave the Lions an “F” for both picks in the first round. No other pick from any other team was lower than a “C”.
Even Gibbs himself was shocked to be picked so early.
I have a feeling that might happen. Despite many predictions that Levis would be a top 10 pick, and at least one of the top 3 QBs, nobody seems to want him. I’ve heard good things about Hooker, and wouldn’t be surprised if he was taken first.
I like it because he’s an experienced RT – they don’t have to move Braxton to RT or have the rookie learn a new position. Assuming Whitehair at center, they now have their entire starting OL locked in for OTAs – a best-case scenario for Fields.
Still hoping they draft a replacement for Whitehair, though. He’s expensive, injury-prone and way past his prime.
Lord, I’m so happy with the #9 pick! We got a beast for a right tackle. He is 6’5" tall and weighs 333 pounds, and very little of it is fat, believe me! This will help the running game and Justin Fields immensely!
I wasn’t terribly excited about the Chiefs’ first-round pick late last night, which was edge rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah. But he is a local (grew up in Liberty, MO, 20 miles from Arrowhead), and went to a nearby college (Kansas State, 130 miles from KC), so this pick made a lot of fans happy. Last year KC also picked a defensive lineman, George Karlaftis of Purdue, and that appears to be working out well thus far.
This will come as a shock to no one, but I am not seeing the love Hendon Hooker is getting going into the second round. Yes, he’s a QB. And yes, his stats are pretty amazing. But he’s already 25, he tore his ACL in November, he played in a gimmick offense that likely wont work in the NFL, and the offense didnt lose much production when he was injured.
… was pretty much a late surge of clickbait. I never saw him mocked or even rumored in the first round until just this week, and all of a sudden people were talking about him as QB3.
Now that reality has set in, and Will Levis is still available, I’d say he’s not even a lock for Round 2.
