Just thought of something: What kind of van is Lackey driving around in? With such an elaborate wedding, who would notice an extra panel van hanging around Chez Warner?
Anyone remember the name on the side? I’ve been wracking my brain to try to remember. Hell, I don’t even know which hours they showed the van in, or if I recorder over them or not.
It was a big panel van, like a UPS van, but sort of light tannish. We haven’t seen it for, what, 2 hours now?
I watch the Tuesday 5:00 p.m. one while getting dinner ready. It’s great!
More thoughts on Marie and Ali… maybe she’s with Ali, but maybe he was using her just for money and the info that her father was getting from the CIA. He’s willing to be blown to bits with the bomb, but she has no idea a bomb is about to go off.
The whole wedding bit is odd, though. I can’t imagine she would have walked away from it. She wouldn’t have necessarily been away on her honeymoon, either.
The bomb is expected to go off soon, since Ali is going to pray one last time, and the wedding was supposed to happen either at 6:00 or 7:00. There’s the wedding, then a reception, and they most likely wouldn’t have left till the next morning.
She and Reza would have been killed, too.
I don’t think Marie knew about the bomb, even if she is romantically involved with Ali.
And what I mean by the above is not that Lackey would know where to go now that he’s on his own, but that the original plan would be to detonate the device at the wedding. For a high yield nuclear device, Pasadena might be just as good as LA.
:smack: I forgot that the Whitebreads live in Pasadena, not L.A. itself. Or is Pasadena part of the L.A. metropolis? (Sorry, I’m Cali-illiterate)
Marie knows by now that there’s a nuke scheduled to go off, right? I think that got mentioned when she was at CTU, but I can’t remember for certain. Maybe she loves Reza too much :snort: to let him get vaporized.
I now have this mental picture of the conversation between Marie and Ali when he tells her in advance about the bomb:
Marie: (whiny voice) But Ali, you can’t blow up the city that day, that’s my WEDDING!
Ali: Just change it!
Marie: But the caterer-! And the florist-! And all the invitations-! This is the biggest day of my LIFE and you are going to RUIN it! How could you be so MEAN?
Pasadena is a section of the greater L.A. area – towards the northern side.
Well, I don’t think they said at first, but when Kate calls back to the private eye’s office and gets his partner (Paul) over there to mess with the computer, Paul makes a comment about being sorry about the troubles, but that they have to report to CTU any info on terrorists.
So it seems that when Kate hired the P.I. initially and he found a connection to Sayed Ali, they had to report it. Tony got that info and followed up on it.
But Kate called the PI after her father and Reza went to CTU, didn’t she? SHe was talking to him several times during the morning, but he came over after Bob and Reza left.
Bob and Reza left, and Bob told Kate to call his lawyer. She called the PI instead. That’s when Kate and the PI found the files that self-deleted, which apparently alerted Sayed Ali, and got Kate and the PI kidnapped from the house when they left.
Something at CTU (some info came in or something?) right after the bombing (after Paula died) made Tony and the other guy go to the Warner house to question Bob and Reza. That’s what I can’t remember.
How the Warners were connected to the whole mess in the first place.
Biblio – In the very first episode (8-9 AM), Kate gets a call from a P.I., who is calling her back about an investigation she had already asked him to do. He called her to tell her there seemed to be a connection between Reza and some terrorist financer named Sayed Ali (that’s all we knew at the time).
The implication is that this P.I. also gave the same info to CTU early in the morning, since it involved terrorism.
Later, after Bob and Reza went with Tony to CTU, Kate called the P.I. office again – but she didn’t get the original guy she had talked to (I forget his name). She got Paul instead (I presume a partner of the original guy). She had called again for the specific purpose of trying to get help hacking into daddy’s files (since Reza had apparently instilled a little doubt in everybody’s mind by implying that Bob Warner was behind the trasnsactions that Tony was asking about). Paul is the one that came over to help hack into dad’s computer.
When Paul came over, he said something (I forget the exact dialog) along the lines of apologizing for the fact that CTU got involved, but that their office (the P.I.) was required to report anything regarding terrorism.
When Paul comes over, he makes a comment that implies the reason CTU was alerted in the first place was because of the original discovery of a link to a known terrorist (which his partner had told Kate in episode 1). I presume that this is where the report came from (that sparked Tony to go to their house in the first place).
If anybody’s interested, the February issue of IN STYLE magazine has a photo feature on “The Ladies of 24” modeling trench coats, for God’s sake! They’re all there: Kim, Sherri, Marie, Lynn, Michelle, Kate, Nina. And the coats are all really expensive!
I wish I’d been taping them all – maybe if they do summer repeats, or a 24 marathon on a cable channel after this season is over.
I never saw season 1, but when I checked out the first episode of season 2 (the FOX replay on the next Monday after the premiere aired), I was totally hooked.
The good news… I got the Season 1 DVD set for Christmas!
(Haven’t decided whether to watch it bit by bit, or just in one or two marathon sittings. )
Sweet Buddha’s Babbling Buttocks. That may be the funniest thing I’ve read in years. Sure, maybe I’m just tired, but that had me laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe.
I don’t think that Jack merely whispered to Nina that he was going to kill her. That seems too… mild, considering the two parties involved. And I think Jack told Nina that Teri was pregnant when they were on the plane, when he’s telling Nina how great Teri was. He must have told her something she didn’t know.
Thank God KTVU had time after State of the Union to show 24. I can’t wait for my 24!
And Kim, Kim, Kim… dear, they know that a cop was transporting two suspects in the car. They then get a distress call from a very female voice. But when they get there and find one f’ed up car and one suspect, and some burn marks on the back of the seat, they might look for you. Really intensely. ('Course, I look at her very intensely, but that’s another story. Did I mention I’m bidding on her FHM on eBay? ;))
And I agree on the annoying googly-eyes with Tony and Michelle. 24 knows what it does best, does it really need to introduce stuff like that? At least when Palmer was verbally caressing Sherry, it was for a reason (one that we don’tt know yet. 'Course, Tony/Michelle might have a reason, too.)
