I never watch the previews for next week’s show, because I hate to know that some scene is coming, and be constantly waiting for it… it decreases my enjoyment of the show as a whole.
if people want to discuss previews, can they do them in spoiler tags?
I don’t see Kim’s decision not to run the dad over as stupid. First, it’s easy to say you’d run a guy down, but less easy to get the guts to do it. Second, how does she explain running him down? Sure, she can say he hurt his kid and she was scared, but he was unarmed (as far as we know).
And if the guy survives, she’s really screwed. He can say she had kidnapped his daughter and he was trying to get her back. Or he can cop to “accidentally” pushing his daughter and causing an injury and that he was just trying to explain what happened when the nanny ran him down.
It’s a tough position to be in. Plus, they needed an excuse to show Kim running.
Kim didn’t need to floor it and run him over… just keep driving down the alley at 5 or 10 mph. He’s not going to just stand there, and if he does, he’ll go up over the hook, not down under the wheels…
I don’t think people are saying she should have run over the dad. She could have pulled the SUV up to the sports car and pushed. The car would either have moved or flipped over and she could have then maneuvered around it.
Or she could have backed up to the other van and caught their attention. A big enough fuss would have brought the police.
The only action that cannot possibly be justified is to get out of the car, trying to run with a hurt child a few feet in front of her enraged father. Naturally, that’s the one they picked. (And you don’t think that doing that caused more jarring to her than staying in the car would have?)
So? You’ve got a button on the inside of the car that relocks the doors. I don’t know what happens if you hold the button down, but you may be able to keep the doors locked. It’s worth a shot. And you have a better chance of an outsider noticing what’s going on if you’re out in the middle of a street rather than down an alley.
Right before Mason left, he got some intel on his computer, the only part of which said something along the lines of “Chances of detination: 85%”. Are we sure that was for the big bomb or is it plausible that he learned that CTU was being targetted and he wanted to investigate it himself rather than distract everyone from the bigger case?
I guess if you’ve decided you’re not going to like the show unless it’s perfect, you’ve got sufficient ammo. Me, I’ve made the opposite decision. I’m going to enjoy it for it’s strengths and ignore the trivial stuff, as long as they don’t stray too far from plausibility. And the Kim thing doesn’t, IMO.
Even if it was a stupid move, that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t realistically have done it anyway. The character is not particularly bright, just courageous, resourceful, and stubborn. Oh, and hot as hell.
