24: Season 4: Episodes 23-24 (5:00am - 7:00am)

In the L.A. Market, at least, they showed a Carl’s Jr. add featuring Paris Hilton. And, well, it, uh, was a really, really good commercial!

“Hang on, I just have to upload the diaphragm into my active matrix.”

Ha! I said exactly the same thing. Well, actually, I said the “sad walking-away music from the Incredible Hulk,” but it’s the same general drift.

Audrey still thinks Jack’s dead, and always will. I must be a bastard, because that gives me a certain amount of satisfaction.

As for Mandy’s pardon – you know exactly what Palmer was thinking when he said “Sign it.” That pardon he signed for Nina – and how neatly that turned out.

“Go, and sin no more. But watch your back, bitch.”

and umbrella close, and umbrella falling to the ground, and door slam, and a bajillion other things that I noticed and hoped Chloe   would pick up.

When Michelle was in the car after hearing about Tony’s supposed death, I was 95% sure she was going to do herself in before getting the call that he was ok after all. Even after she answered the call I was half expecting her to reveal she had already drank the poison.

Really? I thought he was just going out for some Taco Bell.

Or they could have pointed out the fact that, if they hadn’t done infilitrated the embassy, the nuclear missile would have hit LA, thus destroying the Chinese Embassy and killing everyone inside (including the one guy who died). So yeah, the one guy died, but did they notice that no one else did?

They could additionally have pointed out that the Chinese kidnapped and tortured (sort of) an American citizen on American soil. Once the Chinese admitted doing that, it would be hard for them to maintain the moral ascendancy.

They pretty much gave up any pretense of the last episode only taking an hour. Thirty seconds after the missile detonated, they were reporting no residual radiation and Audrey was on the phone trying to get plane reservations home. Meanwhile, the secret service has had time to dig up the World’s Least Sympathetic Agent to arrest Jack who in turn has had time to plot things out with Tony, dig up the CTU Fake-Your-Death Kit (including Realistic Duplicate Corpse!), fake a gun battle and get driven (unnecessarily) to the train tracks so that he can slowly and sadly walk away into the dawn. (Hey, they think he’s dead. Couldn’t he at least take a shower and maybe a nap before he takes off?) Thse people are MASTERS at Time Management. I can’t even get shaved and dressed in 15 minutes, much less fake my own death.

That was a rumor at one time.
As for the Chinese wanting to see Jack’s body: if we assume they don’t know what Jack looks like, they could use Paul’s body. It’s pretty shot up. That way, Paul could saves Jack’s bacon twice.

Surely they have a better match for Jack than Paul. There must be a bunch of bullet riddled corpses stacked up like cordwood in a back rooms somewhere. Plenty to choose from.

Does this mean i’m addicted to 24 now?

we’re in the midst of a late May Nor’Easter here in southern Maine, and last night, as predictable as clockwork, the stupid friggin’ morons at Central Maine Power (Motto; we use chimps for line maintenance crews" or “outage, what outage, we’re letting the lines rest”) had yet another power outage, power went out at 8:30 PM (it’s still off, i expect it to be off for a couple of days, yes, they’re THAT incompetent…

anyway, power off just as it was getting good, then i remembered…

i have a spare APC Uninterruptible Power Supply with a fully charged battery…

i hooked up the UPS to the TV (20" Sony Wega), and hoped for the best…

the TV powered up, and i was able to catch the rest of the show, all told, i got about 2.5 hours off my 800 VA UPS, i was a little nervous though, as this UPS was the one with the defective alarm beeper, so in addition to not knowing what was going to happen to the nuke in 24, i also didn’t know how long the TV would run on the UPS, my TV could go off at any time

Regarding Jack’s Fake Death, I have a medical question.

If someone has no pulse their heart is no longer beating, correct?

So how can injecting something ANYWHERE (even the heart) actually do anything?

I know this is a real-world thing and not a 24 gaffe or anything, but since its come up I figure I can safely ask in this thread.

So, what’s this, Jack has gone towards the light twice now? Or am I missing one?

-Joe, hides from the light

Hi guys! Miss me? I figure now I can read these threads without fear of spoilers. I even watched the “next week on 24” bit

Gotta say, I wasn’t sure if Keifer had signed on for another season. I’d still watch a day of 24 if Tony were in charge, which is what I thought would have happened a couple of years ago.

Curtis’ nickname…Black Bauer? I’m disappointed. “Black Jack” anyone?

Crap…I’m being called out to work…be back later…

And MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WOULD DIE!

Best line of the night:

“Jack, we’ll do what we can, but we’re running low on manpower.”

Said to the guy who lost most of that manpower in the field…

Just a thought here:

What if they had just let Marwan go free and threw Jack in jail instead? I think that the body count would be about the same.

I hated that ending and I pretty much think this whole season has been crap. And I’ll still watch Season 5. This show used to have guts and now it has none.

Anyone get the final body count for this season?

Nobody important.

All I know for sure is that with this season of 24, Mia Kirshner is officially on my List.

As much as I love HTB, one of the best points in the series is when Black Bauer punched her right in the face. HHWWAAAAPOOOOOWWWW!!

I loved the way they could send 50-odd agents/police to the apartment complex to get Mandy, but only 3 to get Marwan. And, of course, those 3 had the weaopn of choice for CTU agents-- hand guns.

Let’s just say that CTU is going to be hiring. They should use the same employment agency that Marwan used to get his waves and waves of fanatical terrorists.

Speaking of which, isn’t escaping by helicopter a bit, well, cliched? Not to mention, easily tracked, given that all commercial flights were probably still grounded? And what’s with leaving the departure until the last minute? I don’t care how hot terrorist babe is, I wouldn’t be waiting around for her if I knew a nuke was on its way.
