She’s kinda like Evil Cartman, who is the nicest guy in the world.
I’ll give it another chance for next season. If they fuck that one up, I won’t be back.
It was easy - he just had CTU make a perimeter.
If you believe what’s said at this site that Mr. Blue Sky pointed out, next season could be very different. New writers, Richard Marcinko advising. As silly as this season was, I still loved it and I’m definitely on board for #5.
I like Black Bauer, it makes me think of a black bear or the Jack of spades or clubs if I’m playing euchre. Black Jack has been done too many times.
Any predictions for next season’s plot? Here’s mine:
Jack is now in some foreign country. Finds big plot to harm U.S. or something. Can’t go to the government, because they think he’s dead. Luckily, Tony and Michelle are now civilians, so he brings them in, and the three of them work together. Chloe becomes their ‘in’ to CTU, working covertly. This raises the suspicions of Edgar, who in the end decides he loves Chloe, and the two of them become the dynamic computer duo inside CTU, working behind Erin Driscoll’s back.
Oh, and David Palmer has to be involved too. He’s no longer president, but he has mucho pull, so Jack brings him in to try to convince the U.S. government of the plot.
The season ends with an exceedingly hot love scene between Chloe and Edgar that is so explicit it triggers a new round of censorship calls from the public. Except this time, even the ACLU says, “You know, we really didn’t have to see that.”
From the episode where Marwan met with a henchman in a dark alley (quite a while ago – when he’d escaped the first time after the nuclear meltdowns were stopped), I got the impression that Marwan wasn’t planning on living through the day – like he’d already planned to sacrifice himself somehow.
Guess he changed his mind and decided to try the chopper getaway…?
Is that why you haven’t been around? I’ve been trying to keep cracking the whip on the offenders, and most of the threads have been safe for ya.
Actually, it was the episode before that, when George Mason decided his condition was getting too bad and he handed command of CTU over to Tony, then walked out of CTU at the end of the ep – that was when we had the silent clock.
George then showed up in the next episode (his last one) to stow away on Jack’s plane and complete his transformation to Nukular Man at the end.
Well, I was less than thrilled to see that L.A. was once again the target of the attack. Heck, that’s just too easy to predict, even for CTU. I mean, maybe they should have just skipped the whole last few hours of “following leads” and as soon as they found out about the missile, call Washington:
Prez: “Have you found this missile on radar?”
CTU: “No sir. It’s using stealth technology”
Prez: “Well, how the hell are we supposed to find it, then?!!”
CTU: “Don’t worry. It’s heading here to L.A.”
Prez: “How do you know that? How can you be sure?”
CTU: “The terrorists always attack L.A. Duh…”
Chloe: “Yeah. DUH!!!”
After their earlier speculation on the attack being directed at the east coast, I was hoping they would follow through with that. NYC would have made more sense as a target, for instance – especially since I believe they were launching from a location closer to the east coast.
Yeah and if they shot it at an East Coast city, we could have a spinoff… which I’d like to call CTU: New York (cue The Who song).
What?
Things like that are part of why many of us never watch the previews.
Anyhow, I don’t understand the hate that this season is getting from some of you. It had some low points (in particular, the whole McLennan Forester thing, and the idea that they can just drive their jeeps into the desert and get the nuclear football), but it also had some great moments, and some very interesting characters. Didn’t anyone else like TerrorFamily?
I’m definitely in for season 5. Although I do think a big change of pace/scenery will be a good thing.
I will most likely watch next season’s shows for two reasons: 1) it something to do on a Monday or Tuesday night; 2) I need to have the background to follow how you guys shred the thing each week. I was ready to bail out after the thing boiled down to the Marwan goose chase. It had quit making any sense by then for me. Introduce a character, have her/him be The Thing for several episodes and then just disappear with no follow-through. (Care to start a count/list of such characters this season?)
Anybody hear yet which night next season will be aimed at? There are only a few shows I watch with any regularity. The Shield, House, Medium, Survivor, boxing, and (when they’re in season) The Sopranos, Deadwood, football, Big Brother and (if there’s anybody who can actually sing) American Idol. I bailed on AI after the first few weeks and do not even care who wins it this time.
But 24 seems to have that quality of being a wild ride, whether it makes any sense or not. And I like Keifer! So I’ll probably be back next year. The only thing I can think of that would queer it for me is if Fox puts it up against a show I like better. I rate the odds of that at maybe 50%.
Oh, sure. For my money Dina Araz was the most compelling part of the season. Shohreh Aghdashloo did a fantastic job.
I’m not saying there weren’t high points this season. But after four seasons of suspending my disbelief, I’m afraid the muscles are a bit tired and the plot contrivances aren’t interesting enough to make it worthwile. If they convince me that there’s enough of a change next season, I may check things out. The fact that Chloe will be back is also a step in the right direction. But right now I have grown weary of the whole thing.
I don’t understand how anyone can say that. She gave some of the worst, most wooden and unconvincing acting I’ve ever seen. Cripes, I’ve seen better acting in a high school play. The kid who played Behrooz was marginally better, but still really, really bad acting. I was very happy to see her killed, and the kid just forgotten about.
This made me laugh so hard, I did a hack Photoshop job to continue the joke:
Oops! We forgot to link to Dave Barry’s blog.
Okay… that is hysterical.
So stupid that Tony felt sorry for him and offered to help.
LOL
Great work :).
