Well we have the exception to the “anywhere is L.A. in 15 minutes” rule. The Russian President’s motorcade is actually taking longer then it should, an hour to get to downtown from the Presidential compund in (if I recall correctly) Thousand Oaks. Considering the freeways seemed fairly traffic free, probably on purpose, for security reasons. However, why in the world they would take that route to get to the aiport is a little puzzling. Wouldn’t they just take the 118 (or more likely the 101) to the 405? For security reasons they are doing the 118 to the 5 to the 110, I suppose. And there is really no reason they would be on surface streets downtown at all and that is what it looked like to me. With no traffic they could have zoomed through the downtown corrider in a minute.
Thanks! The 24 Club, as we’re apparently no longer known as, has asked that anything contained in the “Next Week on 24” part be spoiler-boxed, as well as any speculation based on the previews (and any spoilers read elsewhere). Speculate on anything you want without a box, as long as there’s no Preview knowledge in them.
In Seattle it was “A local business has the same name as the copany that makes the evil nerve gas on 24? Is there a connection? Watch Fox news…blahblahblah…”
Did anyone else think the shots of the motorcade rolling into the ambush zone looked familar? Coming down the off ramp, under the bridge, around the corner and into… Dealey Plaza?? WTF? I was certian we’d see the grassy knoll!
Yep – preview info goes in spoiler boxes, as there have been some in these threads who don’t watch those. You done good.
I do like that they brought this guy in out of Jack’s past, and they did well with him, throwing the viewer off a little and making us wonder whether he was really framed or not. And, he’s going to be a competent foil for Jack – which he illustrated by anticipating somebody entering his office (when his secretary was called away for a vague reason).
And I found it a nice tie-in to the characterization at the very start of season 1 – recalling that the initial personal conflicts between Jack and George Mason and a couple other agents were based on Jack’s investigation of dubious inside activities on their part – he was seen by them as a “snitch”.
Good point. An even better point would be, as someone mentioned earlier: Why not just take the helicopter back to the airport? It’s not like there is anything particulary scenic to look at on the way(to my knowledge).
I can’t imagine that wearing a titanium alloy plate on your rear would be very comfortable, especially sitting down (unless they were Custom Cheek Fitted)
Ah, but I thought the 15 minutes rule was “Everywhere in L.A. is 15 minutes from CTU”. But they’re not going to CTU, are they? Travel clearly moves slower on non-CTU routes (or routes not traveled by Jack Bauer).
I don’t think we were ever actually The 24 Club – weren’t those KneadToKnow (who started these threads and their formats) and others who waited until the season was done and watched all episodes in one marathon session? I think we were the turncoats who insisted on watching each episode as it aired and then discussing the hell out of it while waiting for the next one (which is more fun, IMHO).
And it’s not so painful waiting between episodes now when the whole series happens in back-to-back weeks, with no frickin American Idol breaks and whatnot…
Was I the only one who was hoping that at 4:20 (when the time came up on the screen), Jack would go light up a big ol’ spliff, cut to the president or CTU, and then ohh, about 4:30 come back to see Jack all giggly and red-eyed?
We couldn’t get rid of President Pussy, but at least Director Samwise is now gone, so life is good.
Was it ever officially announced that Logan went from acting president to president? Last I remember, last season the President was shot down but survived. I’ve forgotten; how much after Jack died did this season start? 18 months? I’m sure this could have been an election cycle in-between seasons, but Logan doesn’t strike me as electable.
And wasn’t that the fastest office coup in recorded history? From the time Samwise really cracked (locked up whathisname) to the time he was deposed was what? maybe 40 minutes? You have to admire Curtis’ decision abilities. He’s given a choice between the guy who can fire his ass and make sure he’ll never work in that town again and the guy who coldcocked him and stole his car an hour ago, and he chose the right one.
Meanwhile, Audrey and Chloe have a choice – either tell the Boss, “hey, your paranoia is justified, we really are sneaking around behind your back, but we’re sorry and we have a lead.” or lead a palace revolt. Damn, but CTU is one dysfunctional working environment.
I question the tactics of the guy in the front seat of the limo. The limo has stood up to an RPG blast, automatic weapon fire and a flamethrower. And he opens the door to fire back. Admittedly, he’s apparently taken the Jack Bauer Never Miss pistol-shooting course, but if he takes a bullet, the limo is wide open.
18 elapsed between Seasons 4 and 5. I believe Logan is the president now rather than acting president, so presumably either the previous president died or resigned for health reasons. That president had been in office for about 18 months himself, so Logan is probably facing an election in a year or so.
I was thinking the same thing, but it was necessary to take out the flame thrower. Still, take out the flame thrower then close the damn door, fool!
If last season’s president resigned, someone should go bitch-slap him. Jeez, Bush I had his problems, but if he resigned and let Quayle run the country…? Bush I with as a multiple amputee with permanent brain damage would have been better than Quayle; same with real President versus Logan.
[Spoiler] Ray Wise also played POTUS Micheal Dugan in C&C: Red Alert 2.
I really hope it’s not him, because he looks too much like logan and in Red Alert 2, he acted a bit like Logan, neither of which gave me a lot fo confidence in his abilities
But imdb doesn’t have him listed as being on 24.
