You are correct, Sir.
So the silent countdown comes back to bite them in the ass. If I were producing, I would have done the silent countdown AND stamped DECEASED on his picture. Then I would have brought him back and enjoyed the howls of outrage.
But I’m an asshole.
I like how Chloe, who can remotely access anyone’s computer and decrypt their files (Palmer, Henderson) can’t get into the ventilation system computer to kill a process (even though she can see that it’s running). I think we’re in the “making it up as we go” filler part of the season.
Jack crying for you is WAY better than a silent clock. Palmer didn’t get a silent clock either (mostly because of the timing, though, since it was at the beginning of the episode). It seems like a waste to have Tony survive the bomb just to kill him later, though, so hopefully he makes it still.
Hehe, I was watching with 2 friends and we all simultaneously said “Prepare to die”.
Yeah, they really are killing off everyone… plus:
The previews for next week put Curtis in danger as well. If he dies too, there won’t be anyone to fill Jack’s shoes to keep the show going.
I would love to see Evil Jack. He could get it on with Mandy, and then kill her, like she’s done to so many boyfriends. He could whip Logan for hours upon hours: “Make a decision yourself. MAKE A DECISION YOURSELF!”
No big deal, it’s just a new prime directive.
1.Serve the public trust
2.Protect the innocent
3.Uphold the law
4.Stab people to death with syringes and escape government detention facilities.
Thanks. I’m new to this season so I hear all these names from the past and think they might be making a come back.
They had better not kill off Chloe.
Especially not Snarky Chloe.
I thought she’d use her hack-fu to open an outside door so at least the security guard can make a dash for it. Or everybody for that matter.
Especially if this new Homeland Security chick and her henchpersons decide Jack is unfit to be part of CTU. And Chloe. Imagine it. . . Rogue Jack with his able sidekick Rogue Chloe! Watch Out, Terrorists! You’re toast!
So they’ve got a special airborne polymer detector in place to monitor the integrity of the seals, yet no one thought to invest in a second set of seals? Yeah. Hell, duct tape would have worked, as Jack proved in the area that he used as an airlock.
“Samwise, I’d like to tell you to sprint for the stored gas-masks, but the fact is you have to go to the computer room and die. No, don’t have the guard go for the gasmasks either. Have him call his daughter and then croak.”
See Thomas Howl will not last more than a couple more hours, I’m betting.
No, no… "If I want your opinion, I’ll torture it out of you! "
Yeah really. If holding your breath is good enough, 30 seconds should be plenty of time to run out of the building.
I like how the nerve gas was corrosive enough to eat away the seals, but if you hold your breath and run through it you’ll be fine. It won’t corrode your nasal passages or eyes or anything. I can’t wait until they find out Jack’s a robot.
Did anyone else find last night to be unnecessarily emotionally manipulative? I mean, first the guard has to deal with anger, then he resigns himself and has a tearful farewell. THEN they actually have him have an “Hey, I’m OK!” moment before his spleen decides to reposition itself in his esophagus. That’s just not right.
I’d rank this as the best episode this year in which Jack doesn’t kill anyone.
It didn’t bother me. Nerve Gas is supposed to be oderless, so he probably thought “I can’t smell anything. I must be okay” and then he dies.
I thought it would have been a nice change to have a CTU redshirt survive… but oh well. Some conventions just can’t be broken.
Regarding Tony’s fate: (info from the episode summary on the official site, so no spoilers, but just in case)
7:58 P.M.
Tony knocks out Burke. He prepares a syringe and holds it over Henderson, but Tony can’t kill him. Suddenly, Henderson awakes and grabs Tony’s wrist. He forces Tony to stab himself in the chest. Tony’s face goes white and he falls to the floor. Henderson gets up off the table and grabs the gun. Although he is weakened, he runs out.
7:59 P.M.
Jack enters the clinic and finds Tony and Burke on the ground. Gasping his last breath of life, Tony tells Jack that he couldn’t do it. Jack clutches Tony’s head. Tony dies, and Jack cries with him still in his arms.
And no that definitely wasn’t Mandy. She was “a European woman named Collette Stenger.”
I would be disappointed if it was any different than that.
The most shocking thing about this episode was the fact that something (the nerve gas guys) was actually more than 15 minutes away from CTU!
Depends on how deep inside the building they are. Besides, there are probably a whole lot of doors in the way that cannot be opened electronically. That would slow them down quite a bit.
By the way, just continuing on my bad omens theme for another second, I can count five people other than Jack who have been in every season:
[ul]
[li]David Palmer[/li][li]Mike Novick[/li][li]Aaron[/li][li]Tony Almeida[/li][li]Michelle Dessler[/li][/ul]
Someone correct me if I’m missing people. I didn’t include Kim because she wasn’t in the last season at all. So in half a season, the show has killed off 3 of the 5 (or 6) dependables, not to mention Edgar and Lynn. I know 24 has never been afraid to kill people off if it enhances the story, but this just seems more severe than usual. Are the actors’ contracts running out, or what?
