And ends up in L.A.! Damn, L.A. really is five minutes away from everything!
Actually, that was my guess for Stoller’s revenge. He must know (or will find out) that Jack is thought dead by the Chinese. It wouldn’t surprise me at all that he sells this information to get back undercover.
My guess: It will really turn out to be Karen Hayes (Homeland Security Denmother) who leaked the schematics to Collette as part of an uber-patriotic coup, in collusion with VP Leland Palmer.
I’ll fully agree that the VP is in like Flint with a large part of this plot. I’m thinking that he must have duped Audrey somehow into sending the schematic to Evil Broker Woman, but I don’t think that the VP was behind the attack on Wayne’s car, unless we’ll speculate that the VP orchestrated David Palmers assassination too??? I think these turn out to be the same people who were behind that. Are we going with the VP has a Secret Terrorist Army at his disposal?
Jack isn’t really part of CTU anymore though, as he reminded us last night. Besides, he’s needed in the field.
I’m thinking that after Buchanan, Curtis, Audrey and a whole lot of redshirts are killed, Chloe should get a brevet promotion. I smell a sitcom spin-off!
If so, then I want partial credit for a guess I made (offline). In trying to guess which good guy would be the next to be offed, my GF and I went down the list. Bill? No. Curtis? Nope. Who could be next? Wayne. I guessed Wayne. Three points for tdn.
But I wish that Karen would mothball CTU, and kill the rest of the staff. Jack, Curtis, and Chloe would go renegade. It’d be like the Mod Squad.
Darn, I guess I haven’t been paying close enough attention. Who the heck is Wayne?
And where * do * these terrorist organizations get their legions of assassins?
The twist ending of this episode makes no sense when you think about it. The bad guys originally thought they’d be moving the nerve gas to Russia. Which means that before today, they had no need for information that Collette was brokering. So sometime during the last 18 or so hours, Collette would have had to have contacted Audrey to get the info she wanted. But it’s been a * full * day for CTU personnel. When would she find the time?
Meanwhile, bad guy terrorists who have offed people right and left all day in order to leave no tracks let info-broker babe walk out the door right before a major operation.
The guys at the roadblock called the VP, remember? No doubt he let wayne through and then called his hit squad, who just happen to be hanging out in their van smoking pot, waiting for someone to intercept going to the retreat.
The former First Brother. Palmer’s brother. Former bad guy turned good. We saw him briefly in hour one. He was in the room when the former Pres got shot.
I think that after this crisis is over, Jack, Curtis and Chloe should get themselves a van and disappear into the Los Angeles underground, operating as soldiers of fortune.
About seven and a half years. If you assume that season 1 was set in 2004 (the first presidential election year following 2001, when the show debuted,) then it’s September 2011 now.
