Nitpick: other cities do have CTUs. I remember in a previous season (I want to say Season 1) where terrorists had armed bombs/virus/whatever in a bunch of cities, and when CTU LA figured it out, they watched some feeds of other CTUs, including San Francisco, diffusing their own bombs.
They thought he was James Spader and that they were getting a bargain.
I don’t know if I want to see more of this Morris guy. Remember, it took us a year and a half before we even liked Chloe. I don’t think I have that patience for this Tucci/Pivenesque weasel.
There’s something seriously wrong with that first sentence, Max. But what I found amusing about that scene was that the scrumptious Martha Logan, who clearly has married down, has to practically beg her husband to do her…and he apparently gets his business down in FIVE MINUTES.
Good call – I bet you’re right on this. Logan probably leaked the info to the Chinese about Jack still being alive.
He doesn’t seem to mind her surliness at all. From what we’ve seen of him so far, I like him. He and Chloe are just about as opposite as they could get, personality-wise. And I loved that exchange I quoted earlier (“Can you do it without talking?” – “I could, but it would be a complete waste of my charm!”)
Heh – I was thinking the same thing when he said, “You don’t know me!”
One of the best bits with Jack and Logan was in the chopper – Jack giving him the silent glare, while Logan just babbled. Great stuff.
It was Logan’s pen, but Jack placed the little micro recording device on it – I assume this was part of the special “equipment” brought to him by Morris.
I presume you mean the Chinese. Not explicitly, but I’m guessing that either Logan or the mysterious men behind the scenes tipped them off. After all, by the end of the day, lots of people knew Jack was around.
Definitely the most embarrasing “time lapse discontinuity” of all of the CTUniverse. At 5:58 they don’t even have their clothes off and then 6:03 they’re getting dressed again; only Jack Bauer can pull off a plan like this against a two-pump chump!!
Well, at least we finally know why Chloe is so bitchy; her ex-husband was apparently nailing anything with a pulse!!
Though Jack didn’t get his happy ending, the ending we did get sets up an interesting Season 6. Enjoyable overall (though the show probably should be named Suspension of Disbelief), and I’m glad I didn’t give up after day 4.
<pacino>Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in!!</pacino>
I guess my crew gave him too much credit. We all looked at each other and said “10 minutes” when they asked how long to wait.
Of course it was the Chinese. But how the hell did they get in and out of there so fast, and how the hell did they even have time to position themselves in the first place. OH wait, this “24”… everthing is only 15 minutes away.
How about the cheesey music in the background the whole time? And we kept yelling “Kiss her, KISS HER!!” in that final scene with Aaron and FLOTUS. Everyone seemed to be hooking up at the end, even Buchanan.
No kidding. And I thought Jack had a hair trigger.
“OK, baby, let’s get it on!”
5:59:57
5:59:58
5:59:59
6:00:00
6:00:00
6:00:01
6:00:02
6:00:03
“Woo! Was it good for you?”
And what’s up with CTU security? The director of CTU, having lost his ID badge, can’t access anything. But a lady’s shoe salesman from Beverly Hills walks right in at 5:30 am.
So Jack is on a slow boat to China, sleep-deprived, exhausted, badly beaten up and surrounded by Chinese agents.

He’s got 'em right where he wants 'em!**
Next season: China no longer has an overpopulation problem.
ok, I posted this on the 2am one somehow. I’ll tempt fate and post it again, in the right spot…
I just saw it again, and I didn’t see Jack plant the pen on him, or even throw it on the table. He threw the one he took from Logan on the table. But he never switched them, or implanted a device on that pen. Logan put his cell phone and 1 pen back in his pocket.
Chloe’s ex did come, and Jack asked for the ‘enhanced devices’ I think he called it. He gave him something about the pack of a pack of cigarettes wrapped in yellow. Could have been the pen.
And Chloe didn’t even start to bawl after that kind of day, and seeing the photo of her and her Edgar??? hard as nails.
Ok. I still really enjoy the show. But, is it time to end the 24 conceit that everything is in real time? The first few seasons it made sense and it was novel and it added to the story. Now, it just seems to be a hindrance that the writers have to work around, sometimes with limited success.
It could still be a very fast paced show. Maybe spread out over several days, and mostly in real time with some skips. But, is this still necessary?
Regarding how they knew Jack was alive at the beginning of the day - they never came out and say it, but Henderson implied that he had found out. When he was asking Jack to help him and his wife disappear, he said something like, “I won’t make the same mistake you made - I’ll leave the country!” So I inferred that someone who knew Jack had spotted him sometime during the 18 months he was supposed to be dead.
Yeah, my guess was Henderson as well. He worked for CTU, is obviouly quite smart, so he probably assumed Jack faked his death because afer all, it’s what he would have done. I’m guessing Jack must have gotten help getting some fake ID or something so Henderson might have found out that.
