I don’t know about anyone else, but after Jack shot Curtis, I found the nuke explosion almost anticlimactic!
So, after 5 seasons, we can be reasonably certain that the first threat is never the main threat.
There are 5 mores nukes out there in the hands of the terrorists.
It’s only hour 4.
What the hell could possibly be worse?
Can’t wait to find out!
And, a minor hijack…
Anyone watch Countdown and Scarborough Country on Tuesday? Apparently, MSNBC is accusing Fox of using 24 to generate fear among the American people to keep the “war on terror” agenda fresh in people’s minds, thereby furthering Fox’s supposed conservative agenda.
Well, they talked about the projected range and casualties in one of the “President and his advisors” scenes. It’s definitely smaller-scale than the season 2 nuke. I think a relatively small blast radius – I forget the projected casualties of the initial blast, but I think it was pretty small, like in the low thousands. They projected that the radiation fallout could affect up to 100,000, depending on weather conditions, etc. I don’t think it would spread to L.A. proper – having occurred in Valencia – unless there was a big prevailing southerly wind going on.
I think the damage would have been much worse if they’d gotten the bomb deeper into L.A., which I think was probably the plan. I remembered being a little confused because I thought Fayed had said something about being able to detonate it in another hour – but then I realized that might refer to an intent to transport it into central L.A. first, until the CTU raid spoiled that possibility.
