Yep. Now Repubs in Congress have to decide not only if they will continue to say there was fraud, they will have to decide whether or not to condemn Trump for incitining this, and not going on TV immediately to say it should end. It’s like Bush reading to children on 9/11

I think there’s a good case to be made that he’s unhinged beyond even his 2017 starting level of unhingedness, which has rendered him unfit for office.
But any action removing him will also be seen by his supporters as a “coup” as well, so it wouldn’t necessarily calm anything down.
That was the most pathetic non-condemnation. He basically says “I know you guys are angry. You’re right to be. You think we’re fighting for democracy and you’re right. We won that election in a landslide. They’re trying to take it away. They’re trying to run a coup against me, the rightful president. But… you know… listen to cops… go home”
They’re going to read between the lines that they’re doing the right thing.
I’m not 100% sure he was trying to encourage them. I think it was plausible that he doesn’t want them to be violent but at the same time he cannot bear to tell the truth and undermine his precious “I actually won!” narrative, so he’s trying to play both sides and both calm shit down but also protect his delusion.
