He knew what he was signing up for.
This part was in the job description, no sympathy from me.

Do you think all the gutless motherfuckers in DC will finally be willing to Turbo-impeach this fuck, or are we going to be told that he learned his lesson and there’s no need?
An impeachment takes time. By the time the Senate was gathered to vote on it, it would be about inauguration time. Not really worth it.
NO. No no no no and, again: NO. They are not “just as culpable.” False equivalence and bothsiderism MUST STOP.
Maybe he just needs to see Collins’ furrowed brow to understand how wrong he was.
He’ll learn his lesson this time for sure.
As far as impeachment, as much as McConnel can slow walk it, he can also fast track it.
I have little doubt that if he wanted it, he could have the senate vote within hours.
I’m torn whether the absolute failure of the Capitol Police to protect our halls of democracy is due to sympathy with the protestors or gross, gross incompetence. I’m leaning toward the latter – being a Capitol Police office is about the cushiest job in law enforcement. The vast majority of the job is having tourists empty their pockets as they go through metal detectors and shooing them away from restricted areas. But how grossly unprepared they were is giving me pause.
Are you really gonna bothsides this? ![]()
Methinks right now VP Pence might like to swap it for Garner’s “bucket of warm piss”
No excuse for lack of early preparation and manpower, but a police statement was just reported that when the rioters first started to push through the doors, they had to make a “protect the building” or “protect/evacuate the lawmakers” and they decided on the lawmakers (good choice given that it had gotten that far).
I didn’t read it that way. I read it as a criticism of the measured response of the liberal medium for not calling Trump’s false claims sedition.
An impeached President cannot run for any federal office again. It would be worth it to remove him before inauguration, it would be worth it after inauguration.
Even if Trump were impeached and removed from office, that by no means necessarily means an end to violence. Indeed, it might intensify it.
It’s worth it even as a symbolic gesture. The perfect way to end this shitshow of an administration.
Not necessarily. You can impeach and convict but not add the further penalty of being ineligible for any office.
I think the fire trucks were for emergency medical response, in particular, the woman who was shot in the neck.
ABC reports
“A woman was shot inside the Capitol and seriously injured, sources tell ABC News. A source familiar with the situation said DC Fire EMS are transporting a woman in critical condition to a local hospital.”

Jeez, earlier I was thinking, “might as well defund them, they’re so useless.” Their asses need to be fired NOW.
The Germans have earned the right to be horrified and blunt about threats to democracy.
Nothing bad has ever happened after an attack on a legislature building, has it?
It’s hard to control what insurrectionists and terrorists do, and we shouldn’t put too much weight on them when we make political decisions. If we do, then they have literally won.
However, it would remove Trump from office, preventing him from using this opportunity to do further damage from inside of the government.
