She also played bass for Duran Duran.

Thousand posts in just a few hours…

I mean, they were just strolling in. Don’t tell me every fucking embassy within a 3-mile radius didn’t send half their staff in parkas and face masks for a visit to the Capital.

Why do you say that? It would be odd for the leader of the party not to punish those who went against his commands. That’s how the game is played. Hawley decided that to side with Trump instead of McConnell, so why wouldn’t he use what power he has to punish him for not being loyal?

One of the reasons we hate him is that McConnell is good at playing the game, using every rule to his advantage.

I thought the reason they are speechifying right now is because someone objected?

Because Mitch isn’t stupid.

Arizona was objected to before all hell broke loose. The question is whether they’ll force votes on other states.

I want to report a murder:

I doubt it. Why bother? Any country that is interested can just buy an aide or staffer cheap. Or wait for Nunes to show up with the Xerox copies. The idea that Congress can maintain security is laughable at best these days.

When the Senate flips, whether that’s the 22nd or the 25th or later, I’d assume that all committee assignments could be rejiggered as well. Of course, in most cases it’s just the minority senator of a committee becoming the majority senator (and vice versa), but I could see Hawley getting effectively removed from any committee assignments under Schumer even if McConnell doesn’t do anything in the next couple weeks.

They’re plying out the objection to Arizona that was made before the coup attempt was launched.

Right, and they have resumed the discussion about Arizona. That’s what they are supposedly talking about right now. As soon as the two-hour window expires, Each chamber will take a vote and Arizona’s votes will be approved. Hopefully there will be no other objections to any other states, but Cruz and Hawley…

McConnell understands that sometimes some in his party need political cover and may have to stray from the party-line. We have seen the likes of Senator Susan Collins voting against party lines with no repercussions. I would be willing to bet that was discussed closely and she got his blessing once he knew it didn’t matter how she voted.

I prefer this one

I’d looooove to know how many people who think storming the Capitol is an acceptable form of protest believe that taking a knee during the national anthem isn’t.

Wow! Reports from cnn are getting really serious. Meetings on the 25th and high ranking resignations under consideration.

Couldn’t they just have him admitted to Walter reed for a three day observation? The reports out of the White House are that people are genuinely shaken and concerned about his mental health.

It’s the right thing to do, even if it is only for 12-13 days. He should NOT be allowed to be President after today.

WTF? Fraud is a egregious. If there’s fraud - real fraud - by all rights, these states’ fraudulent results should be rejected.

Oh but wait, we’re talking about “fraud”…I get it.

These animals have been exposed.

In one of the threads, it was mentioned the Sec. of Def. (I think) is also authorized.
I don’t think the VP is in the chain of command.

Under any sort of normalcy, the Majority and Minority Leaders will agree on the number of Democrats and Republicans that will serve on each committee, usually in rough proportion to each party’s share of all Senate seats. Then Chuck and Mitch each get to decide who on their team gets to fill which particular committee assignments.

Good point.

Listening to the speeches, though, I think they are making a point: that they’re not about to be driven out of the building.
