Game Of Thrones2 is starting to sound apt. Similar plot-capital city in ruins, attempted coups, exiles vowing to return…

It’s a stain that it wasn’t a unanimous rejection.

If they want to turn the US into North Korea so badly, why don’t they just move to North Korea now? Win-win.

Are we sure it was going to be a show trial? They put up a gallows across from the Capitol and while I’m sure they’ll say it was “just for show”, mobs get ugly.

That’s 60% of the House Republicans.

Certification – Week 1

And will continue to occur every day for the foreseeable future, well into spring. Abating only if we can get our shit together and vaccinate 70-80% of 300 million people. Every day a 9/11 equivalent 3,541 deaths of Americans. Every. Day.

The whole process would take a while, and power would be yo-yoing back and forth. People always leave off this part:

“Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.”

“Show” refers to the theatricality and predeterminedness of the trial, not to a lack of punishment.

I know a little about Stalin’s show trials, did they alway end in execution, I think sometime it was just exile to Siberia. But what did these fucking maroons hope to accomplish? They had to believe Trump would send in troops. Except for some maroons who thought it would be fun to walk out with a stolen podium or painting and think they would not be caught

To support them, not to stop them.

There’s a first person account from a journalist on the Washington Post site. I apologise that it may be behind a pay wall, but it was too moving not to link to it. Made me choke up a couple of times.

Only to help them out.

(ninja’d!)

Meaning they could run out the clock with Pence in charge easily.

Best post of the entire thread.

Where does Tuberville stay when he’s in town? Maybe Rudy left a message for him at the Four Seasons. I believe Rudy has that number on speed dial.

I said a few years ago I want to see Donny Two-scoops sitting in a prison cell for a long, long time. I’m okay with a looney bin as a substitute.

Especially if we can get a nurse Ratched-type in charge of his care.

I leave this thread for half an hour and this is the first thing I see. Although that’s a visual I didn’t really need, it did make me laugh.

of course, that had to be the plan, as if these maroons could formulate a complex plan any more than Trump could

He’d borrow a pack of cigarettes in order to play cards. Never intending to pay it back, of course.

Then he’d break a cigarette in half, and call it a nickel.
