An objection must be supported by a member of both the House and Senate. AZ was, the other states had only a House member.

You need a Senator to sign the objection. Since the riot, Senators who were willing to sign on have gotten shy.

Ha, true

Haha. Got it. Thanks everyone.

If there are 22 tellers, why is Amy Klobuchar doing most of the telling?

Yes it is.

The 12th Amendment provides the requirements:

I was typing, thinking “this is pointless, 5 others will have answered by the time I finish.” I should have gone with my feeling.

There’s only 4 tellers, two from each House.

If they stay in order, what State would but Biden over the top? I think it’s PA.

Where did I hear there were 11 from each House?

It seems that way. By my count, we’ve had three objections since the joint session reconvened, but they have not had the support from the other house. IIRC, one had support, but given the events of today, that support was withdrawn. (I could be wrong on this.)

I said earlier that the riot today may just backfire–that objections would be much more difficult to justify; therefore, we will see far fewer. Looks like that so far; let’s keep our fingers crossed that there are few to no more.

Vermont.

SHHNNNNNGHHH… hmm? What? We’re up to North Carolina??

SHHHHNNNNNGHHH…

I’m not surprised that they let most of them go at the time they were inside, with law enforcement outnumbered, as a purely tactical decision. They just weren’t in control of the situation.

But what the fuck was going on with the lack of security in the first place? Was there some kind of organised pro-Trump collusion here at some level in law enforcement to allow this to happen?

Counting in base-3?

I read that upthread, one guy had zipties. The speculation was that they wanted to take hostages. I don’t know where this show trial business is coming from.

Atlantic article is quite tame in comparison to the above speculations.

I think Speaker Pelosi said something about only 11 Reps on the floor during debates, due to covid restrictions.

And here we go… PA

That’s what I recall. She told the rest to return to their offices, where they could watch the proceedings on TV.
