I don’t know if they’re necessary, but they are definitely in evidence. These were people whose stated purpose was to stop the count because they wanted Trump to be the winner. And there would be no way to do that without force. That would be insurgency to install a dictator.
I’m not a fan of creating artificial doubt, pretending we don’t know what we’re all quite sure is true. And I’m uninterested in narrowly tailoring my arguments on this day.
If someone doesn’t accept those things I said, then I’ll just treat them as holding water for the bad guys at this point. There is no reason to doubt any of it.
And what did they do when they got in? They sat in the speaker’s chair and took selfies of themselves.
I think the reasonable course of action is not to assume that they’re out to kill you.
Not when they’ve stormed a building. Not when they had a stated intention of forcing things. You don’t storm government buildings. You don’t force your way past security. You don’t carry zip ties to try and kidnap people.
You seem to want to deny the reality of the situation to get to your claim. It’s as silly as saying you would be okay if your house got broken into, as you’d ahve no way to get it back.
The only thing I’ve ever denied in this thread is that our Democracy was in any real danger. It was reacting to it like there was was why 4 people are dead.
People’s intentions deny reality all the time, especially the people we’re talking about. When the kid gave his name for an interview before, he said he wanted to get a hold of someone and tell them they need an investigation into election fraud, I believe he was telling the truth.
It’s hard to say. I would guess that some of them would refuse to take no as an answer. Some of them were probably perfectly fine installing Trump as a dictator, and when it comes to threat assessment on the ground, that is a reasonable worst-case assumption.
Sigh. I guess I’ll do the thing where I overexplain.
There is no reason to assume those who forced themselves past the barricades would not use further force. They are already willing to force what they want. There is no reason to believe the guy on camera isn’t going to downplay his intent. In fact, it would be very weird for him not to.
Big picture: you are making the insurgents not look as bad. These guys are bad. They stormed our Capitol. They stopped the vote. They made the Senators and Congresspeople fear for their lives (which is why one got shot). They required police and military to come in and stop them. They wouldn’t take “no” or “go away” as an answer.
That isn’t the case with people who just want to ask people some questions or let them know something. They don’t force or refuse to take no for an answer.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but it seems that the right-wing lie machine is trying to float the notion that it was really Antifa behind yesterday’s failed putsch. Of course.
This. The police were trying to hold the doorway against the mob on the other side of it, they’d been breaking the windows, and that one woman decided she was going to get up and jump through the window and be the first one through. If she’d gotten through safely, the others would have followed. She got shot, and the line held.
IT DOESN’T FUCKING MATTER. A mob can kill people quite easily without weapons.
