It’s Schroedinger’s terrorism: If they can get enough people on board then sure they’ll attack. But if they can’t, then obviously it was only impassioned hyperbole about political opposition that was never meant to be taken literally as a call for violence, and how dare any divisive liberals suggest that they might have considered any actions contrary to law and order.
Schroedinger’s terrorism has been the hallmark of Donald Trump’s approach and of Trumpist Republicanism all along. Whether or not they really mean to advocate lawlessness depends on whether they think they’ll get away with it.
