7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

If you don’t know what that phrase means, then there’s no use trying to explain it to you.

Seven capitol police sue Trump and allies for Jan. 6 insurrection. (NY Times article - probably paywalled).

A group of seven Capitol Police officers filed a lawsuit on Thursday accusing former President Donald J. Trump and nearly 20 members of far-right extremist groups and political organizations of a plot to disrupt the peaceful transition of power during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

The suit, which implicated members of the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers militia and Trump associates like Roger J. Stone Jr., was arguably the most expansive civil effort to date seeking to hold Mr. Trump and his allies legally accountable for the storming of the Capitol.

While three other similar lawsuits were filed in recent months, the suit on Thursday was the first to allege that Mr. Trump worked in concert with both far-right extremists and political organizers promoting his baseless lies that the presidential election was marred by fraud.

It is quite possibly because one was responding to a threat to break into the floor of congress and possibly murder some congressmen, while the other was no threat to anyone.

Mod note:

Tone it down. Not a warning.

Well, well, well. Facts are a tricky thing.

According to Politico’s Olivia Beavers, the Ohio conservative is altering his story on the heels of the House select committee on the Jan 6th insurrection asking phone companies for records on phone calls during that day – including those involving lawmakers.

Speaking of……

Here’s some material I found over at justsecurity.org. for anyone that likes deep dives. They’ve developed some interesting timelines relating to aspects of the January 6th insurrection by aggregating publicly available information.

The Mark Meadows timeline is particularly interesting, and lends itself to this analysis.

Which I happen to agree with.

He admits that a phone call took place, but doesn’t know what was said; how does that even work?

There was an amusing TV interview of Jim Jordan from a couple of months ago where he was asked if he talked to President Trump on January 6, and his stammering, defensive response is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. It pretty much screams guilty.

Someone should get phone records from his time as a wrestling coach.

Somebody should interview him and ask him to open up his phone and look at the call records for January 6.

Lucky for us, someone with brains would have erased those long ago.

Please note that the article I posted about a half dozen posts upthread on Jim Jordan is shown as a 63 minute read - the folks at Just Security compiled a LOT of evidence of his disinformation campaign.

I think that perhaps it’s this interview with GMA. I found it in the excellent timeline article that @Ann_Hedonia posted upthread. Thanks, Ann!

I think he sounds even more guilty in this interview on CNN.

Beans in his ears?

If only he had listened to his Mommy.

Those darn beans!

I don’t know where to put this:

Just a small sample:

The exchange about January 6 “political prisoners” begins at 1:14:13; Cawthorn says of his attempts to help people facing trial for attacking the U.S. Capitol, “we are actively working on this, we have a few plans in motion that we can’t make public right now.”

I’m just speechless. What the hell is this guy doing?

Bullshitting. He’s not actively doing jack.
