Okay. A question for my Doper colleagues. Maybe the answer is somewhere in this thread (which I have not been following diligently).
Where did the idea of storming the Capitol originate and who came up with it? In what putrid peach-tree dish was that idea fertilized and encouraged to germinate? Who put the bee in whose bonnet? Has anyone actually nailed down that moment, those players, that location?
I still hold trump responsible for the permission/encouragement/oomph that (1) didn’t stop it from happening and (2) allowed it to happen. It wouldn’t have happened without his evil blessing. But who came up with the idea in the first place?
Besides lying that the presidential election was rigged, inviting supporters to D.C. for a “wild” time, and telling people to march to the U.S. Capitol and “fight like hell” on Jan. 6, 2021, Donald Trump had absolutely “nothing to do” with the events that day, insisted his former personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

“I assure you, as I assured you about [the] stolen election, this was not an insurrection or a coup,” Giuliani said Saturday on his podcast, “Common Sense.”
“The president had nothing to do with it, and none of the people close to the president did,” he added. “The way in which they’re being treated is an indication of the fascist-type government that the Bidens, the Pelosis, the socialists, who always like fascist-type government … will run, as long as you keep them in office.”

So, Rudy? It was Antifa that you were encouraging to go to D.C. for a “wild” time, and telling them to march to the U.S. Capitol and “fight like hell” on Jan. 6?

There is a theory to the effect that the pipe bombs were intended to give Trump an excuse to declare martial law (particularly if they had killed people, possibly including Kamala Harris who was in the vicinity while the bombs were sitting there).
But apparently there’s still no progress in identifying the perpetrator.
