7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

This might be in another thread…

note: the following quotes are from a more in-depth Washington Post article that annoyingly will not load…

Frustrating in that there’s a lot more details yet to be filled in, but as it unfolds, hopefully there’s some semblance of traction, however that may manifest itself.

Here’s Hakeem Jeffries being done with Clarence Thomas.

That gave me a better jolt than my first cup of coffee. Thanks for sharing it!

To hell with him.

the sentencing in september should be interesting. the felony is worth up to 20 years.

Here’s a link that will work even if Jeffries unpins that tweet:

(Preview doesn’t show that the tweet includes video of him calling out Thomas.)

Thank you. That is a better link.

Gift link to that article, if I did this right. Should work for non-subscribers also.

Thanks.

Here’s another smoking gun to add to the pile.

This is a gifted link, no paywall, doesn’t count against free views.

There was email exchange between John Eastman and fellow lawyer Kenneth Chesebro. Eastman seems to acknowledge that he doesn’t have a valid legal argument but he hopes the Supreme Court will overthrow the government anyway

So the odds are not based on the legal merits but an assessment of the justice’s spines, and I understand there is a heated fight underway.

( I suspect Eastman’s “understanding” is the result of communication with Ginni Thomas.)

And Chesebro replied:

The odds of action before January 6th will become more favorable if the justices start to fear that there will be “wild chaos’ on January 6th unless they rule by then, either way.

This is sort of huge, a direct connection between the Eastman plot and the Jan 6th violence.

Read that too fast and their Cheesbro was the Orange Anus in his reply.:grin:

The NYTimes worked with online researchers analyzing hours of videos from the January 6 attack on the Capitol. They seem to have fairly solid evidence that the Proud Boys organized and led tactical groups that broke into the Capitol at 4 access points.

There’s no paywall. It’s moderately terrifying to watch.

There’s little doubt that the Proud Boys were organized beforehand, I think they’ve said as much.

I want to know if the Trump team coordinated with them.

I watched on national television as he gave them instructions.

That may not count as “coordination”, especially among the Trump defenders, but they knew why they were there.

Yes, there was obvious tacit encouragement. I don’t know if that will be enough but maybe that’s another reason why the committee wants to talk to Ginni Thomas.

Changing up a little here, I’m really curious if there is any evidence of Trump delaying assistance from nearby National Guard units with the intent of giving the mob time to locate and harm/remove Pence. I fear that the few people who know the answer will take the secret to their graves (looking at you, Mark Meadows).

And, in the meantime, the rubes will continue to blame Pelosi for the lack of police presence in the Capitol Building.

Doubt there was coordination (hell, the fuckstick couldn’t coordinate an outfit of clothes!), but he did encourage them to “Stand back and stand by!”

Duh, It’s not my fault I robbed a bank, that’s where all the money is /s

A college friend of mine and fellow student-newspaper editor worked on that project. Good on her.

It must have been chilling work. What if you saw someone you knew?
