She didn’t, as far as I know, but yeah.
Anybody surprised?
With the Justice Department and Jan. 6 committee taking a close look at Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, he and his cronies could certainly use a fall guy, and it looks like they’ve found their patsy: right-wing lawyer John Eastman…
Loyalty is always thus rewarded in Trumpworld.
“Please, sir. I want some more.”
Hmm, let’s see. Gruel or a Federal indictment… gruel or a Federal indictment…
Has trump tried to explain away his three hours of inaction? I haven’t seen anything.
Given what a slug he is, I’d require an explanation for more than ten straight minutes of action.
‘You, and all of us also!’
Signed,
All the women The Donald thinks he had actual sex with.
As I understand it the Committee is saving this for their final presentation. There are not only numerous witnesses to Trump being gleefully glued to the TV coverage of “his” insurrection–there are also, apparently, photos.
So that will be the Big Unexplainable not only for Trump but for his fans. No matter how they try to spin his failure to call for reinforcement of the sparse law-enforcement* presence on that day, AND his failure to respond to the many right-wing and/or Republican calls for him to call off his people, they will come up against the reality: he was thrilled by the violence. And while he was sitting there being thrilled, people were dying.
The only attempts I’ve seen at defending Trump’s inaction have depended on selling the theory that January 6 2021 was ‘a normal tourist day at the Capitol’-----and after all the evidence presented of what really happened, none but the brain-damaged are buying the ‘tourist’ fable.
*Who ordered and/or ensured a sparse law-enforcement presence for Jan 6 is another major issue; I’m not sure if the Committee has promised to present evidence on the topic or not.
The Official Talking Point is that Capitol security was Nancy Pelosi’s responsibility. So Trump wasn’t required to do anything because it was all her fault.
‘My job was to set the Reichstag Capitol on fire ,it was Pelosis job to put it out!’
DJT
You’re right, they do try to float that idea whenever the topic comes up. And of course it makes not one lick of sense—either that Pelosi was the decision-maker on how many Capitol Police and DC cops were on duty, or that Trump had no responsibility to call off his hounds and also to call in the National Guard and other reinforcements.
If the right didn’t have ridiculously-bad arguments, they’d have no arguments at all.
Of course he hasn’t. When has that lying fuckwad con man ever explained his behavior ever??
After what has been shown so far, “legitimate political discourse” has been shot down.
Remember that you are dealing with people who believed that the Secretary of State is in charge of the military.
Everybody was telling trump he lost, but he wouldn’t listen. Where was he getting his contrary data? I started listening to the phone call to Raff and, in his first breath, he offers as proof of his win the size of his fucking rallies. That’s his justification.
There’s video.
I recall some reference to “locker room talk.”
I don’t buy “making excuses” as a synonym for “explaining”.Leans more towards the “Lying” end of the spectrum, which is par for the course.
I agree. I was actually trying to bring up that his “explanations” do come, but are worthless. “Locker room talk” (whatever that is) doesn’t excuse bragging about sexual assault.
