Well then we’re back to the baseline. Trump is a lying fuckwad con man.
According to his official diary, he was talking with his valet. See: “The Daily Diary of President Donald J. Trump, January 6, 2021”:
Those wardrobe talks with the Valet are truly important for such a classy dresser as Donald J. A three hour session is probably par for the course.
Whoa, baby! Sing it! That was invigorating.
I like that he used my terminology re trump, referring to him as the “so-called president.” You heard it here first.
I’m hoping the Holder videos we’re seeing tomorrow isn’t just pre-planned interviews with known questions.
I’m hoping for some candid ranting. I’m hoping for Orangeanus to shout the N word repeatedly and then deny ever saying it. Blaming it on digital technology. Who really understands digital?
Or at least footage of him staring at the tube, With time code showing the elapsed hours, which was what presidential action meant to him. Tucker Carlson defending him because of tiredness due to bone spurs…
Have they said they’re showing the Holder videos tomorrow? I haven’t heard that.
My understanding is that tomorrow’s hearing is to cover Trump’s pressure campaign on the DOJ. Holder video won’t be shown until the Committee has had time to review it and prepare it for public viewing, sometime in mid July.
This is my understanding as well. The Holder videos will not be seen at a hearing until the committee reconvenes is July.
Ugh. I work in media. Show it tomorrow = holy crap! Show it mid-July = Who cares? All the footage I hoped for upthread won’t matter by then.
I was thinking the same basic thing on hearing that the committee is pressing ‘pause:’
The only way Americans can absorb and retain anything anymore is to binge watch it all in a single, interminable session.
You put a commercial break of a few weeks into this thing and it will be naught but a faded memory.
I hope they understand this, and have some sort of thought about how to mitigate its impact.
But … Democrats.
they do have to review the footage first, it will take time to go through it all and there is a federal holiday in the mix.
the committee is getting quite a lot of new material from national archives.
Oh, yeah. It’s definitely a big old risk-reward calculation.
But – like “We’re late. I’m not stopping for gas. We can make it --” I sure hope they’re making the right call.
I’m disappointed (though not surprised) that not one prominent Republican has left the party.
only one that i know of has left the party over trump and went independent. i would have figured on more going that way.
Realistically, why should they? What can the Democrats offer them? (I know you know this. It’s more rhetorical.)
They don’t have to become Dems. As independents they could always rejoin if the party if it ever became rational.
Maybe, and maybe it lets what has come so far sink in a bit, opening people for further testimony.
I live in Trumplandia, and I endure constant barrages of hate directed at the Democrats for all the evil that they do. Since this commission was announced, I heard nothing but how it’s a partisan witch hunt to take down Trump because they hate him.
But, the last week, and especially the last few days, I’ve seen that needle moved. These people aren’t going to become Democrats anytime soon, but they are starting to realize the pedestal they’ve placed Trump on is weak and crumbling.
I think that a lot of the people who pointedly ignored the hearings so far will find themselves interested in how they turn out next season.
I work with a Trump fan and we talk politics at work quite often. He has refused to watch the hearings, but I am not shy about sharing the details of what they are revealing.
I can tell he is hearing more stuff from somewhere and I can see it changing his mind. He’s sort of hinted at some irritation with Trump.
We need to keep this information flowing and I am worried about the pause that they are taking, even though I certainly understand the need for it. I hope they will figure out a way to keep this in the media.
I’m hoping there’s another pause that drags it into August. Then a pause into late September. Keep it in the news through the Fall.
Good point.
Ignorance of how the US Government actually works is a virtue in Trumpworld.
You know, at my job when there is a crisis, we work through weekends and holidays. Although for maximum impact in November, I understand having an elongated release of information - just so it is often enough to keep up momentum.
