7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

I believe this is a non-paywalled version.

Is the link I posted paywalled? I accessed it just fine, without a subscription. Anyone else have trouble?

The first time I accessed it, it said I had to subscribe to keep reading past the first paragraph. I just checked it again and it’s not doing that anymore. Weird!

I posted another article just in case. It’s a great story.

Rudy Giuliani was recently interviewed by the DOJ in connection with Jan 6th. It was totally voluntary. Nothing to see here!

I guess that’s true, since the web site https://giuliani/ doesn’t get you anywhere.

I need to stop multi-tasking and just single-task! :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani interviewed in Jan. 6 investigation | AP News

Not sure how this a crime, what with the first amendment:

Of course, it’s a plea bargain, so she can’t appeal.

Here is the law that makes it a crime to, as I read it, peacefully and silently picket within any “Capitol building”:

That was what I gathered, if she did that outside she would have been fine. She wasn’t supposed to be in there.

The formula is “Time, Place and Manner” restrictions are ok within reason. You can’t carve your political manifesto into the Washington Monument with a chisel and claim 1st amendment protection when you get arrested for vandalism.

Basically this.

Yes, because they used prosecutorial discretion to not enforce the law against those January 6 marchers who stayed outside the building:

Here is that law:

If you look at section 5106, you’ll see that the exception still does not allow first amendment activity on the grounds:

It’s all fun and games 'til the cell door slams shut.

Some more thoughts on this interview from a former NY defense attorney. This is usually the final step before a plea bargain, and indicates several hurdles have already been crossed. But with a lot of remaining questions.

Will it culminate in what is the last step of the process—a formal plea deal? If so, what would the deal be, and who would he be providing evidence against? Would the incriminating testimony cover only Jan. 6, or would it impact other potential crimes as well? Given that making a deal with federal prosecutors while ignoring Giuliani’s potential exposure in parallel events under investigation in Georgia would be malpractice, how, if at all, will a deal with DOJ also relate to Georgia? If Georgia is included, would Rudy also be a witness in that matter?

Very interesting! Thank you!

Initial report of DC Bar recommends that Guiliani be disbarred, based on his attempts to overturn the 2020 election without any evidence.

Now goes to the Bar’s Board of Professional Responsibility, and ultimately to the DC Court of Appeals.

The report says:

And in other news, Lin Wood has resigned in the face of discipline:

And in still other news, John Eastman is facing disbarment:

In summary, “everything Trump touches, dies.”

You listening, Walt?

I am very glad to see these corrupt lawyers finally suffering consequences for the egregious harm they’ve done to this country. This and much more to come, I hope. All the way to the top.

Where’s the Kraken? Where is she in all this?!?

I keep hearing her name brought up, but no consequences I’ve heard about as yet.

I’m sure it’s coming.
