Yes, it’s not strictly political, but it’s relevant. And I’m amazed it hasn’t spawned a bunch of news stories, lawsuits, and general hubbub. I mean, on the one hand, it makes sense as an event to make into a game, but it still feels…extremely offputting.
Yes, it had the video, but the rest of the suggested links on the page have damaged my my mind. I’m billing you for the brain bleach. Now I must go purge my history with fire!
I wonder when the studies will come out about the rate of recidivism from the pardoned 1/7 patriots versus the general non-pardoned population? I have an idea of how things will look.
This just now from Alt National Park Service on Facebook:
Reports indicate that the Department of Justice has begun removing data detailing criminal charges and convictions related to Trump loyalists. This started with records from the January 6th insurrection, but additional records are now being erased. We will keep you updated once we have more information.
Additionally, the FBI returned at least some of the materials it seized from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and private club during a court-authorized search in August 2022.
Dear god. Proud boys suing DOJ for their prosecution and imprisonment.
If DOJ fights it, the suit would be dismissed at the first hurdle. But I think DOJ won’t fight it. Trump will pay them whatever they want as a reward for their crimes.
Yes, according to this article, these were federal prosecutors who brought these charges.
Separately, federal authorities prosecuted Kelley in Knoxville for creating a “kill list” and trying to recruit people to help him kill FBI agents who had investigated him in the Jan. 6 case. He created the list while awaiting trial for the insurrection case, according to the government. He delivered that list, along with video of some of his targets, to a co-conspirator in the case.
So presumably he can be pardoned. Though he asked as far back as April for help from Trump and hasn’t received it.
So now, Kelley is hoping to appeal directly to President Trump. He told 10News he wrote a letter that was delivered to the president’s son. But he’s yet to hear anything back.
“(I want) to let him know my situation and that he needs to intervene because the Eastern District of Tennessee is just absolutely dedicated to crushing me,” he said.
I can see Trump’s reasoning for pardoning him; if he hadn’t been unjustly investigated for his role in a peaceful protest on January 6, there would have been nothing for him to retaliate against, and none of the other crimes would have happened.
Then again, Trump won’t bother if he sees no reason to. This is just one guy, and he’s not rich or famous or anything. I think he’d only do anything if this becomes a cause his base cares about, or if it gets attention in some other way.
