Do you mean the one he was probably handed and told to read word for word?
He can do that, yes. I don’t know that he’s capable of coherence once he goes off track.
IIRC, non-profits with suspicious names from all across the political spectrum. The right wing claimed it was right wing organizations only; but I don’t believe that it was.
Sen. Rounds (R-SD) thinks there’s no need to impeach Trump:
Then he said something really fucking stupid (that is destined to come back to hurt us if Trump’s impeachment is not upheld by the Senate) because it’s a reason to convict:
Don’t HOPE! Make it happen, you weasel! MAKE HIS CAREER BE OVER! Convict him so he can be barred from elected office ever again!
Given how grift-ridden the groups were, it seems that maybe the IRS wasn’t as aggressive as they should’ve been.
But the larger point I was trying to make is this lack of attention ultimately hurt the Republican cause, and started a culture of grift. Now, campaign finance laws are so weak that there’s a lot of grift that’s technically legal, but also a lot that isn’t.
Here’s another good article, one I like to cite it because it’s from a conservative source.
There are so many threads going now I’m not sure where to post this.
Anyhoo, this is batshit nuts, but sadly, not surprising. Now that trump is off virtually all social media, his acolytes have taken to searching for hidden meanings in his old tweets and the few new statements of his that are getting out.
WASHINGTON — Shortly after President Donald Trump was impeached a second time, he shared a five-minute video on YouTube.
From the Oval Office, Trump “unequivocally” condemned the attack on the U.S. Capitol, saying “violence and vandalism have absolutely no place in our country and no place in our movement.”
As the clip coursed through far-right channels, Trump’s biggest supporters struggled to make sense of the comments. “No mention of Biden’s transition,” one user wrote in a QAnon forum, suggesting that meant Trump would remain in office after Jan. 20.
Another, hearing an echo in the recording, speculated that the president was preparing for a military takeover from a bunker.
…
Since last week, Trump supporters have searched for signs that the president had moved to an alternate online platform, such as Gab, favored by some on the far right. Some flocked to the messaging app Telegram, which announced Tuesday that it had added 25 million new users in the previous 72 hours.
They recirculated old tweets, searching for new clues about Trump’s intentions, as well as about world leaders willing to back his crusade against Silicon Valley. Paul Burton, an Atlanta-based follower of QAnon, explained in a phone interview that he was focused on Trump’s tweet announcing that he would not attend the inauguration, which Burton took to mean that there would be no inauguration Wednesday.

I’m in favor of it consisting of a pair of prison guards posted outside of his solitary-confinement cell, where they can see both him and each other at all times.
On the day Trump went to Alamo, TX, my MAGA Facebook friend shared a post on the subject with comments from all her like-minded peeps, giving us a fascinating insight into their state of mind.
It was full of comments like: “I’m beginning to lose hope”. (Welcome to reality, sweetie. You’re only 2 months behind), alternating with “Something big is coming – hang in there”. So many truly delusional people out there.
So now the Daily Beast is paywalled (at least for me).
Non-paywalled version:
This Trumpist, apparently every bit as brilliant as all the others, is being charged largely on the basis of evidence she posted herself to social media.
Rounding out the different professions at the riot. There was a former school therapist, who is very much into conspiracy theories. A nurse who is proud of her participation in the “peaceful protest” IN the capitol just lost her job. Another politician, the corresponding secretary of the Sacramento CA Republican Assembly just stepped down after being seen in the Capitol during the riots.
More reports about racist Capitol police are being revealed.
Meanwhile, Trump admin. staffers that don’t have name recognition are having difficulty finding jobs.
Yesterday, I watched an analysis by Sagaar Enjeti, conservative co-host on The Hill, surmising that the GOP is over based on an article by Ross Douthat in the NYT that talks about the divide in the party between reality and fantasy. He talks about the split between the MAGA and the non-MAGA. The story is only 3 days old, but it’s already feeling unlikely. Trump and MAGA are already losing traction, but the GOP losing favor does seem likely to me.
Some support for that. Trump’s poll numbers continue to fall. His approval rating is down to 29%, down from 33% just a couple days ago. IIRC, when Nixon was impeached, his approval rating fell to 28%.
68% of American’s don’t want to see Trump remain as a major political figure in the future…
Another former GOP Congressman leaves the party, saying that “It’s no longer a political party. It’s a cult.”
In Tampa Bay, 2,000 Republicans switch parties after the riot, some becoming Democrats.
It’s being reported that Trump will be leaving DC before the inauguration so he doesn’t have to leave as an ex-President.
