Similarly, I’ve also suspected for some time that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Of course that’s how they see the the world.
But my point is that the fear is fueled by the constant hate message of right wing media. These people aren’t, for the most part, aren’t losing jobs to immigrants. Their cities aren’t being burnt to the ground by black people. They just think these things are happening because right wing media is feeding them a steady diet of immigrant caravan stories and welfare queen stories and convincing them that antifa is one block over with a flamethrower.
@asahi , you do have a point about active law enforcement and Trump which I intend to come back and address later. But sometimes I don’t do everything I intend.
Yes, the EC rules, and the constitution says that the state’s legislature determines how those votes are awarded. Technically, a state may simply have a legislative vote to determine this.
The only thing that they may not do is to change their laws after the election. If they have a law that says that they will send the EC determined by the popular vote, and then change their minds, then SCOTUS should uphold the compact, as that was the law at the time of the election.
SCOTUS may decide differently, but if they start deciding things in opposition to the constitution, then all bets are off.
Where are you getting that from? The “safe harbour” provision of the Electoral Count Act says that if the state follows the procedure in force prior to election day, then Congress cannot reject the votes from that state except in very narrow circumstances. It doesn’t bar the state legislature from changing the way to appoint electors by a law passed after election day. Not sure if Congress has that power?
Yes, exactly. The President said it was a steal. Their senator likely said the same. Local politicians repeated the nonsense. Their TV blared the lies 24/7. Their radios not only repeated the lies but added more. They were turned into brainwashed “sheeples” (as they like to call us).
How many cops are now dead or permanently crippled due to this? Iirc one cop killed, two cops committed suicide, was there another? One cop lost a eye, that crushed guy is permanently damaged, one suffered brain injuries, etc.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Gina Bisignano, the Beverly Hills salon owner accused last month of participating in and egging on the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, was indicted by a grand jury on seven counts.
Bisignano, 52, was arrested at her home in Beverly Hills on Jan. 19 on several charges, including civil disorder, destruction of government property, and violent entry or disorderly conduct, among others.
On Friday, she was indicted by a grand jury on seven counts: Obstruction of an Official Proceeding; Aiding and Abetting; Civil Disorder; Destruction of Government Property; Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Engaging in Physical Violence In a Restricted Building or Grounds; and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building.
Just stumbled on this today. There’s a whole subReddit of articles and archives about the riot. So if this thread doesn’t satisfy your appetite for the topic, there’s LOTS more here at r/CapitolConsequences
They have a wiki with media, arrests, charges, job losses, investigations, etc.
Today’s top headlines are that the Canadians have listed the Proud Boys as a terrorist group, FoxNews didn’t broadcast much of Officer Sicknick’s funeral live, the QAnon Shaman is still refusing to eat (so Judge ordered him some organic food), and some CA Republicans are defecting from the GOP.
From the 8th to the 11th centuries AD, the Vikings raided, pillaged, and colonized much of Europe. The reign of terror of these fierce, feared warrors finally came to a close when they weren’t given organic food, even though they had notes from their mothers.
You’re referring to the cop crushed in the doorway? Here’s a sort of “feel-good” follow-up:
Hate to say, but wouldn’t be surprised if that girl ends up getting bullied, and here’s the scumbag who wasted on the cop with a shield while he was stuck in that doorway:
Maybe I skimmed not too closely, but didn’t see anywhere about the cop being permanently damaged.
Corrections and clarifications: A meteorite the size of Africa is not slamming into the earth on Friday, as indicated in a previous version of this story. We apologize for any inconvenience, hoarding, stock market crashes or suicides we may have caused.
Quite some time ago, someone else on this board referenced a homemade documentary that was done by a woman who was very disturbed by the changes she saw in her father, who went down the right-wing media rathole. I watched it (it’s available from several sources on streaming media), and she makes some excellent points and observations on this phenomenon.
Ms Senko’s groundbreaking film examines the rise of right-wing media through the lens of her father, whose immersion in its daily propaganda had radicalized him. His new fanaticism rocked the very foundation of their family. She discovered that this phenomenon was occurring with alarming frequency in living rooms across America. The film reveals the consequences that this radicalized media is having on people, families, America, and the world.
By watching and sharing this film as widely as you can, you will be helping to educate others about the dangers of these weaponized media platforms being operated by Fox News, Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh and many other bad actors who seek a more bellicose and “dumbed down” public that is constantly being told to be angry at everything - rarely understanding that the real objective is to steer them toward voting for far right issues and candidates.
Her family was able to pull her dad back out of the rathole eventually, due to a combination of fortunate timing and lots of diligence. Not everyone gets that lucky.
