7 Jan 2021 and beyond - the aftermath of the storming of the Capitol

I just started a new job this week and state through the HR presentation about social media. And this isn’t about people getting fired for speech; it’s about people openly commiting felonies and getting fired for it.

Does Fox News really still want him to call in and rant on live TV?

Nixon had left the building. JFK was on the plane with Johnson.

They should give him Tucker’s home number.

If it brings in viewers, I guess they do.

Looks like Mnuchin may be in talks about the 25th. Upcoming news on CNN.

Did they get Pence to agree? Pence was opposed to the 25th earlier.

Pence was to talk to trump earlier today. Perhaps something he said? Or the fact that congress is going ahead on Monday.

Jeff Stein (WaPo reporter) is saying that it will probably go nowhere, but I found it interesting that he was actually involved.

When all the dust settles, I think history will judge these events as far more momentous than Watergate. This is the downfall of a true psychopath. It is absolutely frightening to imagine the US in the thrall of what he actually imagined he was creating – a judiciary compliant with his every whim, a president to whom the law never applies, a democracy that always turns out the result he wanted. It’s the very essence of a tin-pot dictatorship. And his sycophantic rubes are screaming about “preserving their free-dum”.

Someone should make a flag out of that and fly it on Inauguration Day.

I’m hoping it will be short and sweet:

“I resign”

At the end, Hitler didn’t have anyone in the bunker with after he poisoned Eva did he?

Absolutely. Looking back, Watergate is like a kindergarten tea party compared to four years of trump.

That reminds me… I think it’s time to watch All the President’s Men again. In a celebratory mood this time. :champagne: :clinking_glasses:

Wow, I must admit I’m surprised Twitter gave Trump a permanent ban. Nice that politicians, media, and social media finally instituted some limits on The Brat but only after he sickened and killed thousands of Americans by mishandling the pandemic response and topping it off with polarization that culminated in a mob storming the Capitol. Thanks, guys!

Which law enforcement agencies were the ones who sent the reinforcements that actually cleared the Capitol of insurrectionists? Was it the DC national guard or was it mostly forces from Virginia and Maryland?

Parler down after Trump banned from Twitter. Apple threatening to pull app from app store if moderation not improved.

Where are they going next?

D.C. police and national guard.

In other news, no video from the president tonight, they were planning to send it out on his Twitter account. Oh dear.

Yes, this is going to keep getting worse and worse once the scope of the attack comes into focus.

The President of the United States raised an army to attack Congress because he lost a free and fair election.

The DOJ and FBI is going to need a bigger building. They need to drill down into the financing of the insurrection, all the “Stop the Steal” fundraising done to fund the insurrection. Anyone involved with the effort to discredit the election is part of this conspiracy. Mark Meadows, Lindsey, the scrawny blonde. Especially if they were fundraising off the efforts or getting paid as a consultant.

And the RNC and Ronna McDaniel are up to their necks in sedition, they’ve been a driving force in the fundraising. And apparently, just today, she was re-elected chairperson. And Trump made a video for the RNC meeting that wasn’t publicly released. It needs to be subpoenaed.

Republicans are going to need to escape the RNC, anyone with any decency or brains needs to go independent. Because their party is tainted, not just in the moral sense because they don’t care about that - but in the serious financial crimes sense.

Hope hicks has resigned, leaving next week.

Dang. I guess it’s Golden Girls reruns then.
