It was the two tweets linked here already, about “great American Patriots…will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way,” and that he won’t go to the inauguration. Twitter has a point-by-point description of their assessment of these tweets and why they took this action.
Good! I know it’s just social media, but it’s a very good indicator of the sea change that’s happening.
Also: when things like this are going on, I like to take a peek over at Fox News and see how they’re spinning it. Take a look at this screenshot from the main part of their current front page:
Looks like even Fox has thrown the Orange Peril under the bus now.
And articles of impeachment are scheduled for Monday.
How about “lynch mob”?
In Donnie’s case, Twitter was not “just social media.” That’s like saying a Molotov cocktail is just a bottle full of gasoline and a pair of old underwear. It’s how you use it. He announced policy (such as it was), hirings and firings, threats against anybody and everybody including other heads of state, with no filter, thought, decorum, civility, or intelligence. It was a place for him to spew a constant stream of verbal diarrhea. And it’s about G.D. time Twitter cut him off at his tiny thumbs.
Yeah. It’s not like the President of the frickin’ USA doesn’t have other communication options available to communicate with the public.
Quite right. It’s just that some were ridiculing the significance of the orange shit-gibbon’s 12-hour suspension from Twitter. It really is more important than it seems. And, not to blow my own horn, but I predicted that he would very soon be back to his old self, and since he was now on essentially zero-tolerance probation on Twitter, that he wouldn’t last long. And so it came to pass, and it happened the same day that impeachment proceedings appear to be moving forward.
I secretly doubted you. I won’t be doin’ that again.
There will be another trump video tonight.
They are not sure who will him about the Twitter decision. Reporting is that he is only speaking to mark meadows and his daughter/son in law.
Actually, he doesn’t, really. He can’t appear on live TV from the Oval Office. Every time he’s on live and unrestrained and unedited, he shits all over himself. His marvelous call for “peace” and for the insurrectionists that he inspired to “go home” was so beautifully phrased that it earned him the initial 12-hour suspension from Twitter. He’s a dangerous, treasonous fucking idiot and now he’s really in a corner.
I don’t know, most mainstream media organizations appear to be strictly regulating what they air now.
I guess he can still phone in to FOX news. But he can’t do that at 6 AM while using the Executive toidy.
And he doesnt even know how to wear a mask.
That’s the explanation, but apparently it was a Twitter staff revolt that forced their hand.
Can’t he just issue news briefing statements on the White House website all day and every day if he wants to?
Why not?
This is not news now, but just a feast for the eyes. The added bonus is that even his leering mug is gone.
Biden has dropped some of his Mr. Nice Guy in regards to Trump. Reporter question at his conference on youtube.
From Twitter:
“The second Tweet may also serve as encouragement to those potentially considering violent acts that the Inauguration would be a “safe” target, as he will not be attending.”
Yeah. He needs to leave now.
I don’t think it was because of the optics. It was because he wanted revenge and will never lift a finger to help a person or group (or state) he’s angry at. He’s MUCH more malignant than just avoiding the appearance of his minions getting trounced by an adequate security force.
There is a time and place for "no more Mr Nice Guy" and this is that time and place.
from your cite: He exceeded even my worst notions about him," the president-elect said. "He’s been an embarrassment to the country.”
With his decision, Trump is poised to become the first U.S. president in modern political history to not appear for his successor’s swearing-in ceremony — one of the nation’s most prominent public displays of its commitment to a peaceful transfer of power.
I am pretty sure Nixon didnt show up for Ford, and JFK definitely didnt show up for Johnson.
