Am back from Parent Night. I guess by the time you get to 5th grade, they know about you (we got out in under an hour–woot!). His teacher seems very nice, so it must have just been a weird vibe or me not knowing her. She gives homework over the weekend, which she apologized twice to me for, but I’m fine with it. I don’t much care, actually–as long as he continues to do well, it’s all good.
I’ve never been Pitted, either–which surprises me, because when I let rip, I can be a real bitch sometimes. Not that I’m asking to be Pitted, mind. Something has to truly piss me off for me to really tear strips off someone. I still would like to reread the time I ripped some chippie a new one because she was all upset that the wife of the man she was having an affair with was angry about the cheating–the nerve!-- or some such nonsense. I can’t recall her user name or the date of it.
Yes, I am that pathetic that sometimes I go back and read my own posts (of course, I read the other posts as well; I mean, I’m not that narcissistic. Usually, I pick apart what I said and see ways I could have said it better. I’ll never get anything published because I’m my own worst editor.)
It is a shame about Otto, but these people who just scream obscenities etc are just getting on my nerves. They sound like thwarted 14 year olds, IMO.
Work tomorrow, with a good crew. And I get to go further on my way to getting my resume to the person who needs it (the FT position that I now want, that I didn’t want 2 weeks ago–don’t bother following along, even I bore myself with my insanity).

Then, when I noticed it, for three pages people had been defending what I said, and almost nobody else had jumped my shit. I responded, but it was really all burned out then.
As for Otto, I almost posted this in that thread, but thought better of it. I was going to say, it could be both ways! **Otto **maybe had been a jerk and deserved to be banned, but **Ed **was still rude and peremptory about it.
Oh well. Better to be quiet and just take what enjoyment you can, right?

Crankiness seems to abound! Look, I rarely have issues with the board admins/mods, in fact most of them are pretty decent. Skip did me a huge favor several months ago, and I’m still thankful.
I been patiently waiting for Jerry to work out the board burps and truly appreciate that he has a thankless task. I wouldn’t want it, and appreciate his efforts. I will continue to wait, because whining, questioning, etc. will not do anything to alleviate the situation. Also, because I likes you guys!
However, this instant ban thing has me worried. I’ve never been pitted, warned (and don’t want to be!), etc, but I have to admit, I am now afraid of asking the wrong question at the wrong time.
I sense there’s a lot more going on than we are privy to. I more than understand the admin/mods irritationwith the users’ bitching. It was getting old. I really hope they’re having a better day tomorrow.
That’s all I’m going to say on the matter. I hope I don’t get in trouble. None of this was meant to be snarky, insulting, bitchy or whiney. I am truly troubled by the tone of the board today, is all.
Apology from Ed and further clarification. Sounds reasonable. I’ve been particularly upset at people picking on Jerry because he’s (to me) obviously extremely competent (I’ve worked with so many IT people at this point, it doesn’t take much to tell the good from the bad). He hasn’t been working with a reasonable infrastructure until now and it’s gonna take a while to get things working optimally on the new stuff.

Morning all! Shiny New Boss is working from home today, she works from home every Friday too, and she’s on holiday next week. She emailed to ask me to check that she’d switched her monitor off in the office and to stick a note on it for droppers-in letting them know she would be away for a while.
Then she asked me to do a little job for her - in fairness it was something I privately thought should be done but hadn’t mentioned it as yet because there are other more important things going on…and then, bless 'er, she told me not to do it if I had other things to get on with. Awww…she’s so not TK!
I am off to the cinema tomorrow night to see “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” with a couple of friends. I have done the decent thing and invited 'im indoors, but I doubt he’ll want to come. Gossip will ensue!

This morning is the appt. with my primary care doc and I get to find out what the blood and urine test results mean. Good thoughts and welcome, naturally. I’m thinking positively. Then it’s in to work, where my blood pressure is surely to be tested since I’ve been out of the office since Tuesday afternoon. LOL Amazing what can happen in a little over a day, ain’t it?!
Ah well, at least it’s Thursday and tomorrow is FIRDAY!
Nava, it works both ways too. If it wasn’t for my French, I’d have been utterly hopeless while travelling in Spain a couple of years ago (though my Portuguese, as sparse as it is, helped out a lot there too)… especially when I was suddenly faced with Catalan on a few occasions.

Ok, so my boss penciled me in for 0900 today, but today is Thursday which means that another coworker (who is FT) comes at 0900, that is her start time, which means I should be there at 0800 and I usually just show up then because I understand this, but this week I forgot about it (probably because last week that coworker wasn’t there) and today I can’t be there at 0800 because TH has an interview (for which you will all cross your fingers and say prayers, thankyouverymuch) and is already gone, so I must be here to put #2 son on the bus.
So, I called work and let them know. I’m tired already and it’s 0719.
Glad to see Ed’s apology is a good one. I do wish some of the more vociferous members would shut up sometimes. Calling names just makes you look stupid, IMO–especially in print, but I digress.
