Dinner is eaten. I had sallit, baked N.O.T., and steak. It’s so hot and humid here, when I took Nelly for her afternoon stroll, I ended up having to carry her back in. v The gas station next door is out of 87 octane. rigs, you could do my laundry, if you’re that bored.

[del]Hope you get your A/C fixed soon[/del], Rebo. W00T!!!111!
Sorry about the craft fair disappointment, FCM. Hopefully you’ll do better with the next one.
The house smells heavenly right now. We’ve got a pot roast done up all picadillo-style bubbling away in the oven, which just needs about 15 more minutes before I can shred it up and serve it for din din. In the meantime, The Boy is making a couple of batches of spicy pickled carrots so that we can give some to the in-laws tomorrow when they come over for brunch.
Why yes, we do like food. Why do you ask?
rigs, apparently your rain decided to come pay us a visit for the weekend… it’s been drizzling since 4pm, and the weatherman says it probably won’t stop until Monday morning since Ike is supposed to drop in to say hello on Sunday night. Poop.
That’s great, Rebo! Nearly the same thing worked for me with a car repair returning from the abortive Hurricane Ivan evacuation; my car compressor died an hour from home, and the dealership was begging for work the next day when I took it over there. And since the car was only 2 months out of warranty, the manager even persuaded the auto maker to cover 90% of the repair cost.
I’m sorry the craft fair was so sucky, FCM. I’m glad I didn’t try to join you. I really need to start doing some myself, but recently I haven’t had time to think about getting sufficiently organized to even try. Maybe next year. Although lately I’ve barely had any knitting time, in any case.
We had a wonderful pork roast that Papa Tigs marinated, then slow cooked on the grill. Nom nom! It was hard to force ourselves to leave enough for Papa Tigs to have it to make sandwiches for work. But we managed, somehow. The dogs were very disappointed; they thought they should get the leftovers. As if!
The AC compressor needed a new capacitor, which our neighbor Brian happened to have! He charged us a reduced rate, too. He’s a great guy. I feel sorry for the people on the other side of the street, they still don’t have power! That includes Brian’s family. No AC for them. I invited Brian and his wife over for dinner and TV, but they turned us down. I told them we have room on our freezer for anything - and I gave them some ice. We offered for them to use our compressor, which we only used for about 10 minutes! (The power came back on after setting it up.) It still feels inadequate. We’re going to buy a new compressor from him. Ours is positively ancient. I think it came with the house, which is circa 1975.
I made pepper steak, rice and salad. The cool salad was the best part! I’ve had a shower (even though the mayor said we should conserve water) and it’s finally down to 80° in here. I’ve stopped sweating.
We drove around the neighborhood this morning - lots and lots of trees down. And traffic lights. I saw one tree had landed on top of somebody’s van. Another broke a brick wall. Lots of fences down, and missing shingles. Thank God our part of town didn’t flood. I’m just so glad that we’re ok, as is ReboSon and Mr Rebo’s niece and her family.
I guess I’ll finish painting next weekend. Maybe.
Tomorrow we clean up and try to get back to normal. I wonder how my office building is…
So I made Death Chicken last night. It was ok, but I won’t be in a hurry to make it again. It definitely needs something to give it a bit of oomph. Yes, that’s a technical term.
Now I’m going to shop for groceries and take 'im indoors to get some new jeans 'cos he’s having zipper issues.
I still have half the Death Chicken left, I think I’ll leave it out and see if the cats want it.
But…but…if you’re in invisible mode…it’s like you’re not here at all.
[special, death-chicken including, invisible mode]Also, apparently it makes you miss Death Chicken, which, I have to say, is yummy. Also, I believe BooFae may be a heretic. :D[/s,d-ci,im]
::Waves at Pie’s evil twin::
Anyway…it appears that I was supposed to sleep in today. Woke up at 5:40 or so, was awake for about 1/2 an hour, even considered getting up. Woke up again at 8:30.
Guess I should get moving if I’m going to get anything done before going off to church…
Happy Sunday all! (And hi beebs!!! Did I mention you should stop by more often? And hi Mr. Lurk/Delurk!!! Same goes for you. I think. :dubious: :p)
