A Birthday to Remember… The MMP!

WHEW! Car is mostly packed. Cucumber salad is made. Onions chopped for weenies. And I just had a 'mater sammich made with an Amish 'mater. Yum.

The weather is supposed to be beauteous for our picnic tomorrow. Of course, I planned it that way. For my good buddy Mike, whose retirement picnic this will be.

Thus beginneth my vacation.

I’m jealous, **FCM. ** I wish I was on vacation! I just need to get through another month and then I’ll be on vacation for two whole weeks. I’m so looking forward to it.

Mr. Taters took me to Famous Daves for some BBQ. I am well and truly stuffed. I also enjoyed a tasty adult beverage while there.

Work was not exciting, as usual. I’m well and truly burned out.

I’m glad that next week is a short week for me. I only have to work three days. Unfortunately, I’ll be all by myself and will have to accomplish my work, as well as my co-worker’s, who is on vacation. It’s okay. She needs a break too. Plus, because I now have to attend the AUSA conference for a week, she’ll be by herself as well. Worse for her, I’ll only be back a week, and then I start vacation for two weeks. So really, she got the short end of the stick there.

She’s encouraging me to take Monday, the 6th off, because it’s a training holiday. I’m not going to do it though. I figure we can get tons of work done because no one will be there.

Time to “chillax” as the kids say.

swampy has tallied the votes: FCM on Monday it is!!!

Longish work day. Went to dinner and then went to see The Proposal. Much better than I anticipated. Had some very funny moments.

Ought to get to bed, since I’m headed out to Cincinnati in the morning. Plant shopping (or admiring) and then nephew’s baseball game. In 90 degree weather, I’m afraid. But I haven’t seen him play this year yet, so I need to be a good aunt and suffer. I’ll be taking cold stuff with me, though (gotta go throw stuff in the freezer, actually).

Might not get to post again till Sunday. Happy weekend, everyone!

Aww! Dotty, you should send that cake to cakewrecks blog!! There’s just so much going on there … so much wrong! And OMG, HRH is such a cutie-pie! Oh yes, btw, those folks went -way- overboard for a 2 yo’s birthday, imho. Geesh!

So glad that the weekend is here. Got some errands to run tomorrow, and hopefully will make it to one of the local farmer’s markets on Sunday. crosses fingers I am very jealous of the vacationers. But have a good time FCM.

Yes - my daughter she throws a mean tantrum!

Already sent it to cakewrecks! I just thought the teletubbies were reaaallllly scary looking, but HRH loved Barney and Thomas!

I also forgot to mention the live DJ, playing such children’s favourites as Lady Gaga’s Disco Stick and Soulja Boy!

Up, way too early. Stoopit bladder… I looked over at the clock to see what time it was, and I couldn’t see it! Ziva decided to plop her hairy self on the FCD’s chest of drawers with her fat, fluffy tail blocking the number display.

Anyway, morning routine for the critters is done… oh crap, except I forgot about daughter’s cat - gotta go downstairs and clean the other litter box. I wish crabby Cleo would just come upstairs and live in peace with the other felines. But she and Taz fight (he seems to enjoy tormenting her.)

**FCD **didn’t get the job at the ice cream place. They sent him a very nice don’t-call-us-we-won’t-call-you email. Oh well, no ice cream samples for me. On the other hand, no 60-mile one way commute for him. And he’s supposed to be interviewing with some folks down by the naval air station some time this week. The search continues.

It’s lovely and cool out right now, but we’re supposed to creep up towards 90 this afternoon. I don’t think I like summer. Windows are closed and the car is unbearable when I come out of the office at the end of the day. At least 2 full months of this left. <sigh>

On the other hand, I am on vacation.

Fingers crossed for FCD’s job hunt turning up the perfect job! I hear you about the heat though, Moommmmm! Temperature here now is 108°F/42°C! That’s the colour of my face from the 10-second walk from the car into the house!

Forgot to comment on your pictures, Dotty. HRH looks so cute! And yes, the cake is an excellent Cakewrecks candidate. And the party - just a bit too much.

Really don’t feel like going out today, but I am a good aunt. Off to get ready to face the day.

ETA: sorry FCD didnt’ get the job. Fingers crossed for his other opportunities.

GT

False alarm on the ice cream gig - turns out he’d applied for several positions there, and this was the one he wanted the least. He’s still in the running for the one he really wants. Fingers continue to be crossed.

And I have a big grrrrrrrr out to my FIL’s doctors. He was supposed to have back surgery yesterday. My MIL has been informing everyone involved that FIL has a prosthetic device that requires special consideration before surgeries. She has pictures from the device manufacturer and all kinds of information. Criminy, I know more about it than I think is decent…

Anyway, this team of surgeons, etc, chose to ignore the batty old lady, only to discover as they prepped him for surgery that they were unable to deal with the device. So they cancelled. Poor FIL - he’s in terrible pain, scared of the surgery, and these idiots pull that stunt. No idea when it’ll be resked. **FCD **is pissed, needless to say. And his brother, who was present and isn’t exactly quiet about his opinions, laid into several folks.

Assholes. Why do some people treat the elderly like they’re idiots?? The man had a bad back, not demetia! So any good thought for my inlaws would be appreciated.

Stoopit surgeons…

Unpleasant surprise when I went to clean up after daughter’s cat - her closet door was closed. It’s never closed. I opened it, sorta. Turns out, her clothing rod/shelf came crashing down - all 8’ of it! Three supports are all bent up. Clothes all over the floor. And, for one terrifying moment, I wondered if the cat had caused the crash and was buried under all that crap. Luckily, she was in the living room, whining like a brat. But we’ve now got a repair job. The worst part will be removing all those clothes! Luckily, I have a portable clothing rack that’ll help somewhat.

Dotty, I know our heat is nowhere near what you deal with, but it’s all relative, isn’t it? I expect it’s exacerbated by living/working/driving with air conditioning - the heat feels that much hotter.

Can we please get a break from all the Michael Jackson inanity?? I turned on the news looking for, you know, news.

Thanks for the thoughts on the hubby - he is feeling a bit better at least. Anti biotics have kicked in, decongestants are starting to work and he is still employeed for a few more days

I am at work on a beee-yoot-iful Saturday in Paris as I needed to print the booklets for a class I am running in 2 weeks (I am off to Kazakstan on Monday for a week so today is it!). I am about to kick the super-high-tech with a gajillion options printer as it will not print how I need it to - my desk printer will easily but I need the quality of the super high tech one!

Morning all.

That party was for the parents, dotty. Criminy, a 2-year-old won’t even remember it. HRH is just adorable, though.

fcm, my poor old dad had a “device” that was specially constructed for him after prostate surgery left him without control. It was a never-ending source of wonderment among his medical care-givers. It was nearly lost a couple of times through various surgeries but, luckily, never put a halt to it.

We’ve “cooled” down a bit to low 90s but we are looking at a disturbance in the gulf that is heading our way with, at the very least, lotto rain for next week.

And speaking of next week…short week with early dismissal on Thursday. Then I am off for a week of vaca. Yay!

I am thinking burgers on the grill with homemade N.O.T. sallit for dindin tonight. And maybe a turkey breast for Sunday.

I best get to purtifying for li-berry and grocery store. Enjoy the weekend.

Tupug

Morning Mumpers! It’s gonna be hot again. Laundry is started.

mmmm, is the printer telling you, “PC Load Letter”?

Good luck to FCM on the ice cream job. Boo idiot surgeons. I hd my closet do that, too.

Dotty, It’s been 105 here once or twice. I feel for you. HRH is Teh Cute.

Happy Birthday Soapy!!!

Good morning everyone!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SOAPY!!!

I was up early today. Hubby er…woke me up.

Now, I’m sitting here drinking some coffee and thinking about the chores I need to accomplish today.

Nothing else of note going on, I guess.

Oh, Dotty, HRH is most definitely a cutie. Um, I don’t get those big, lavish birthday things. We always did a family thing. There were times we let the kids take a couple of friends and we’d go do pizza or dinner somewhere. As they got older, the tradition was to let them pick a restaurant and we’d go there with family to celebrate. After, we’d come home for cake.

Last year, my son wanted to go to the paintball course with a couple of friends, so we let him do that.

Time to cruise the news and hope I can find something other than MJ ALL THE TIME!

This makes me happy, since I know I’m not the only one. I mourned for MJ as long as it took me to spot it on the Drudge Report to when I got it posted in the Death Pool (about 20 seconds…)

Bambilance tonight. Yeehaw.

'Ullo all.
Methinks the world is whacko for Jacko and I’m sick of it. IMO, his MENTAL ILLNESS outweighed his talent in the end. Thankfully, we are left with the talent legacy (although his kids are in for a troubled time no doubt).

My MIL is all pissed off that he is getting the “limelight” instead of Farrah. She blames Obama (no, I didn’t make that up–MIL has “issues”).

The heat wave broke last night, but it’s back to 87 today. At least the horrid humidity is gone for a bit. I was going to work on my dry creek bed today, but I have a knot in my neck and shoulder that won’t ease up. Getting older sucks.
Dotty–that Bday party is waaaaaay out of control. And the cake is just stupid. Anyone with any brain knows that 2 year old plays with the box the toy came in instead of the toy. I try to avoid such parents–the competition gets fierce and the parent’s neediness shows more and more as the kid grows up–poor kid.

Happy Birthdays, Soapy and anyone else I may have missed

I wanna know why so much emphasis on MJ and very little on FF? And where’s all the EmcM hoopla? I cannot be the only one whose first thought upon hearing the news Thursday afternoon was “at least we won’t be inundated with news of MJ’s weirdnesses anymore” I mourn Farrah and Ed, not Michael (I might have if he hadn’t changed so friggin much from the King (Prince? what did he call himself?) of Pop he once was actually was)

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Happy Birthday, Soapy!!!

OK, MIL gets entertainment points in my book. This is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while. (Sad that she has issues, but still…)

Yay for continued ice cream hopes!

You’ll notice I’m here and not in Cincinnati. (OK, maybe you won’t, but it’s true.)

Pulled out of the driveway and started out for Cincinnati. And noticed that my car was still making a clunky noise. They dealt with the heat shield yesterday, but apparently there’s something else going on (might be something in the exhaust that’s loose). I’d be sad that I didn’t go, but it’s so hot out that it’s probably better. I was sad about missing the nephew’s ball game, but there are going to be more chances in July, so I’ll wait for that.

I’ve been quite productive. Cleaned out the car interior and vacuumed it. Put a bunch of laundry away and have edited pictures for printing. Still have to narrow down the collection, but at least I have them ready for print.

Off to find lunch and keep plugging away at stuff.

GT

Howdy Y’all! It’s the start of my weekend. YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I’m celebratin’ with an ice cold beerverage. I bought a bunch of deli stuff at the store. The menu over the next few days is sammiches. It’s too hot to do anything else. Plus I feel lazy.

MOOOOOOM I hope FCD’s brother gave 'em what for. Stoopit Idjits!

Yays, boos, hugs, noogies, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s. Distribute as needed.

And now…

Happy Birthday to** Ivory**!

I did not do my dry creek bed, but I DID clean one half of the master bedroom closet. And now I’ve got brownies baking for Daughter’s dinner party tonight (they will have espresso frosting–which she will make). The Dinner Party is at a friend’s house, in honor of their Italian exchange student.

Knot is still in my left shoulder/neck. It will be a Flexeril night.
IMO, Ed McMahon outlived his peer group and hence, no big to do when he died.
