I don’t know if I’ve told you before - I used to be Juliana - but I’m from Danville. I’ve said it here before.
The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippiused a picture with our kids in it! Have to share… the picture of the kids with the yellow shirts on: they’re both on the back row. Our son is first on the left: our daughter is fourth from the left. I’m so proud!
Happy Birthday Rebo! I hope you have a wonderful day!
For she’s a jolly good Rebo,
for she’s a jolly good Rebo,
for she’s a jolly good Rebo,
and whatever it is that goes here!
Thanks guys! I intend to be sorta slothful, as I spent yesterday (the first of my two days off) deep cleaning the kitchen.
I just spent an hour on the phone with customer service, getting my internet connection fixed.
In a minute I’m gonna go get showered and maybe go over to Penney’s. They sent me a coupon for my birthday. And go to the grocery store for stuff that I forgot Sunday.
I’m gonna make a pie for my birthday “cake” - and a pot of stew. Then go up to the bar for a couple of hours!
Have a great day!
Happy birthday, Rebo!!
Tired today. And nothing interesting to report.
Happy Birthday, Rebo. I hadn’t realized out birthdays were so close together.
I suspect that it wasn’t so much a case of giving me a heads-up as it was a fishing expedition to see if I would give her anything about them she could use in the confrontation. I was suspicious as soon as she called and acted like she just wanted to chat - that’s definitely not her nature. She’s someone who always has a purpose to what she’s doing.
I suspect nothing will happen - at least nothing that will be overhearable in my apartment. But I’ll probably go out and do something anyway - if I’m wrong and there are “fireworks” I have no desire to get involved in it.
We never did give Little Nemo a Mumper nickname. What about Jr Capn?
Yippy Burfday Rebo!
Such fun, isn’t it? Even after my discectomy, chairs are a big ol’ booby trap, or perhaps they’re a booty trap?
For me, about the only office chair that doesn’t paralyze me is the painfully expensive Aeron. Oddly enough, second-best is a $59 cheapie with no adjustments other than height that I got from Office Depot. Chairs are such personal things that there’s no substituting putting your butt in a bunch of them and pretending you’re Goldilocks.
From the Been There, Done That club, the best advice I can offer is:
[ul]
[li]Get up and walk around at least once an hour. [/li][li]Making like a bat on an inversion table for a few minutes a day at home can work small wonders. [/li][li]If you carry a wallet, get it out of your back pocket.[/li][/ul]
If you do nothing else, get up and move. Desk chairs and backs are not a good mix.
You ever try one of those ergonomic backless chairs? They’re actually surprisingly comfortable.
Happy Rebo Day!!!
We’re having a freaky warm wave - temps in the 70s in October? Unheardof!!! By Friday, we’ll be back in the low 60s which is more normal.
Boss was talking to us today about the impending eval cycle and potential bonuses - what a fiasco that will be! If everyone was exactly the same in rating, we’d all stand to get around $900. Of course, it won’t work that way, since most of us will be average or slightly above, a few will be walk-on-water, and there might be a couple in the basement. No biggie in any event - it’s a bonus and frankly I never expected to get one anyway.
However, here’s where it gets weird. Instead of being rated on a 1-5 scale where 3 means you do your job and you do it right, we’re being rated on a 1-3 scale where the new 1 is supposed to equal the old 3. OK, no biggie so far. Except the boss was told that anyone who is rated as 1 will be “reviewed” - so it’s no longer good enough to do your job, do it right, and do it on schedule. You have to do more, whatever that means.
Plus the bonuses will be computed using some magical formula that includes your eval score, your pay rate, your shoe size, the phase of the moon, and Justin Biebers phone number… or something like that. And anyone whose computation comes up at $250 or less gets nothing.
WTF???
My question was: What happens to all those $250 or less bonuses then? Where do they go? I didn’t ask how much would be reallocated to the big mucky-mucks in their bonuses… It’s not like it’s a big deal to give someone $50 instead of $500 - I’m sure it uses the same number of electrons. Leave it to the government to really screw up something that should be simple and straightforward. Oh, and the boss said he was also supposed to somehow take into consideration the people who came out ahead when we moved back from NSPS to GS pay, but he wasn’t told what that meant. I’m glad I’m not a boss. And I’m not expecting any bonus anyway. Goodness knows, I have more money than I could ever possibly spend…
Whining over. Have a Happy Tuesday! MWAH!!!
Guess what y’all! I fixed the terlet all by myself today. This afternoon about two-thirtyish I was in the master bathroom and had just (of course!) put down freshly laundered and dried bath mats when I heard a big WHOOSH sound from the direction of the terlet. The line (for lack of a better word) that leads from the water intake valve to the terlet itself came undone and water was goin’ everywhere! So, me, bein’ of semi-sound mind reached down to turn the intake valve off. I managed to get it from a WHOOSH to a slow triclke but couldn’t get the valve all the way off. GRRRRRR… so I grabbed towels off’n the towel racks to put down to soak up water and went to the storage buildin’ to get my Tbar thingy to trek all the way to the front of my property and turn the water off. Of course, natch, there was water all over the bathroom floor and to the edge of the bedroom carpet. After soppin’ up water for twenty minutes (thank Og da bear owns many beach towels cause they’re great at water soppin’) I was able to get over and see what was happenin’ for good the whole time thinkin’ OH S**T what’s this gonna cost me! Anywho I figured out what happened and figured out, of course, that little twelve inch line would need to be replaced but it didn’t look like it’d be too hard so maybe I could do it. Oh and of course the freshly laundered bath mats got soaked. GRRRRRR… So I betook myself to the hardware sto’, where the nice man showed me the replacement and asked me if I also needed teflon tape, which, of course, I had no idea. So I bought the replacement line thingy and a roll of teflon tape. The good part is it was all a little over five bucks, so yay for wunnerful local hardware sto’! I managed to replace the line and lo and behold no more leaky WHOOSHY terlet! GO ME!
This means that no dindin got cooked. It was gonna be country fried steak, smashed N.O.T., green beans, squishes and cornbread which is one of OYKW’s favorite meals. Yeah, I spoil the critter! Anywho, I called him to say that dinner would be sammiches and relayed the tale of my plumbin’ woes and how I fixed it. He said he’d stop and swipe General Tso’s dindin because, in his words, “Butch the Plumber deserves a good supper after a hard day of plumbin’” He’s on his way with dindin now. I got a feelin’ I will not live down “Butch the Plumber” for quite a while.
Annie great pics of the kids!
MOOOOOOM just recite this mantra, “it all pays the same”. Be at peace and eat ice cream.
gotti said <snerk> booty <snerk>!
Ok off to await dindin and to put the bath mats back in the dryer yet again. Also, I get to wash what looks to be at least two loads of beach towels.
Envy Me!
***Happy Rebo Day!
The garbahje dispos-all decided to not work today. The dispos-all side of the sink stopped up this afternoon, the switch to turn it on didn’t work, and when I ran the dishwasher, the water backed up in the sink and now it’s full of old coffee grounds. <insert Mr. Yuck face> Maintenance has been called and is taking their sweet time to come by. They’ll probably be by tomorrow.
In other news, I have three (3) social things I’ve decided on:
Culinary Boy and I are going to Biltmore the first Sunday in November. I get two free passes per year from irk and I cashed them in.
I’m dragging Culinary Boy to see Rifftrax Live: House on Haunted Hill on Thursday. I’m still mad that I didn’t get to see Rifftrax Live: Reefer Madness back in August and I’m not missing this one. Dammit.
Bill Cosby will be in Hippy Hollow the day after my birthday next year. I’ve decided to take this as a sign and get myself a ticket for my present to me. Years ago I had a choice between George Carlin and Weird Al Yankovic one weekend. I chose Weird Al. George Carlin died before I could see him and I’m not going to let that happen again. I’ve listened to Bill Cosby since I was a wee SpazKitten and I want to see him perform live in person, even if he just goes off on a rant. It will be a Cosby rant and thus a thing of beauty!
Happy Birthday Rebo!!!
My Dad is doing some better; he’ll be in hospital for a while, though. He has diverticulitis and a low-grade infection in his blood. He’s getting medicine, though, and he’s in a good hospital, but he sounds very weak (I guess he is; divert. is very painful!). At any rate, thanks for the prayers and good thoughts, and please keep them coming.
At least tomorrow is Wednesday!
Ugh. Car overheated on the way to work. Spent all day in the shop waiting for the thermostat to be replaced. Replaced thermostat didn’t cure the problem. I will say, the car shop treated me well. one of the guys picked up lunch for me at Chick-Fil-A even though I had no cash. And when it wasn’t finished at the end of the day the partner offered a car as a loaner. In fact, when I was hungry, he offered to let me borrow a vehicle to go for lunch, but it was raining hard.
So far I’m $300 into this work. We’ll see tomorrow if they figure out what it is.
More tornado watches today. It was 75 degrees when I woke up at 6:00, 57 degrees at 5:15 PM. Weird weather.

Obilgtory durken psot.
Had a good time tonight. Played the bowling game and won one out of two games. I don’t think i bought one drinkfor myslef. And my friend Rachel was there - it was her birthday too! I bought her a shot even though she really didn’t need any more… We both had desgnated drivers, thank Og…
Dinner was good - beef stew yum! And my pie was awesome!!! I made it with Splenda, neufchatel cream chees, and Cool whip Free - so itwas less bad for me than it could have nbeen.
Ok - gnight.
Slightly durnken psot as well here. Had wine and appetizers with brother and friends. Still a bit…well…you know.
Happy Birthday, Rebo.
Interesting landlady you have there, LN. Staying away seems wise to me.
Off to sleep, I think…
Hugs.

Happy Birthday, Rebo!!!
Germie, maybe a blockage somewhere? Or a bad radiator cap. Glad your mechanic treated you well. I love my Firestone guys.
Swampy, it does make feel you damn manly when you fix the terlet, doesn’t it?
off to bed, early irk tomorrow.
