Up, caffeinated, off to irk. After irk:
It’s HOCKEY NIGHT IN CAROLINA!
Morning, happy Hump day; I’m up and caffeinating, gonna be late to work.
My brother just scared me half to death. He called about 20 minutes ago. Our Dad is now in intensive care; apparently the infection is stronger than what they thought. So please, please keep my father in your thoughts and prayers. I was hoping that I’d be able to call and talk to him today but I doubt that, and I probably won’t be able to get much info on his condition just calling over the phone.
Thanks for being there for me, folks, and any prayers for my Dad would be -greatly- appreciated!
good thoughts for HerbsDad
…and for ReboHead…
We just got a new boss in, whose role is unclear yet to me. He’s now having one-on-ones with everybody. I’m last, probably because of the whole “this doesn’t affect you” syndrome - my processes are independent enough from the rest that all the boutades from Up Above which send my coworkers into fits of hairpulling and teethgnashing “do not affect me”. I’ve asked Mom to make me a cross-stitch sampler saying “It doesn’t affect you”, giving her requests like that is a good way to keep her off everybody’s hair and it makes her feel useful.
Sending good healing vibes to {{{**Herbs **and Herbsdad}}}.
ReboHead is not too bad, considering. I’m at work, and it’s nice and quiet so far.
::goes off to surf the net, pretending to work::
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’.
Herbs continued prayers and thoughts for your dad.
Nava do hang or place that cross-stich somewhere prominent at irk!
Glad Rebohead is not feelin’ too bad.
Better that than Spawn probably.
Happy happy to Rebo.
Now the next step is laying pipe?
On a slightly related note, Saturday is Bingo and we are encouraged to come in costume. I’m going as a little Dutch girl complete with sabot (wooden shoes) and the whole nine yards. We also have bags of Disney-approved Pixie Candy to pass out. Will try to remember to take my camera or get some younger person to work my cell phone camera for me.
I’m sitting at work, in my office chair, having only taken Aleve today.
Og, I hope this is progress.
Ruble, Are you doing the Little Dutch Girl wearing the beard? That would be jake if you did…
Hmm…now the car guys want to put in a new water pump. This is not going well.
When the car rolled over 175,000 miles last week, I gave it a little talk about going the distance - 200K. I guess is showed me.
herbs - Continued prayers for your dad. Are you far away from him?

Beard and cigar. I shaved for Kittanning and the neighbors laughed, the wife cried and the damn dogs all tried to bite me ------- never again if I can help it. I do have this cute Japanese fan to hold over my face though.
waves in the direction of Ann’s hometown I was over there not long ago to see Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt. I love Danville; such a darling town. Congrats to your World Wide Kids.
I love imagining these Southern boys saying “terlet.”
It is, and I miss it: more specifically, I miss Burke’s Bakery. It’s right across Main Street from Constitution Square State Park. If you went to Centre College to see either of those guys, it’s on the other end of Main Street. I highly recommend the butterflake rolls and the gingerbread men. We always get enough to last a couple of days, but it never seems to make it back to Mississippi.
Weird day here - alternating storms and bright sunshine. It’s about 80 degrees and muggy, so we closed the house and turned on the air. In OCTOBER!!! Too weird.
{{Tarra and TarraDad}}}
I don’t feel like cooking tonight, so we’re going out to eat. Dunno where - some place close. I’m starving and would love to go now, but I’ve got laundry running and dogs to feed shortly. So in about an hour.
I can has Firday?
My car is ready. The good news is (according to the mechanic) it’s no longer overheating. Plus, the bill ended up being about $150 less than they originally quoted. Still $600 when I wasn’t expecting it is not fun.
kopek - I think the Little Dutch Girl is far funnier with a beard and cigar.
StG
I think all little Dutch girls should have beards and cigars.
Germy glad it was ummm… cheaper than you thought, but still, ouch!
Ellen I’ve been sayin’ terlet since the early 1970s. I blame Archie Bunker.
So we had the big country fried steak dindin tonight. We et early cause we were hongry! Plus I talked OYKW into going to Evening Prayer tonight at the church house, so we’ll head on over in a while. Actually we’ll take separate cars to his place and I’ll drive us over and back. I might stay the night at his place.
{{**Herbs **and Herbs’ Dad}}
We’re off to Mom and Dad’s (southern PA) tomorrow morning). Flying in to Dulles and going to the Air and Space Museum that’s at Dulles. Then driving to their place (about 2 hours). We might go to the Hershey Story museum in Hershey on Friday. Then an alpaca farm on Saturday, ‘cause we love alpacas more than two adults really should. And we’re going to make a Viking (football Vikings) pumpkin on Saturday and put it on my parents’ neighbors’ porch. The neighbors are Lions fans, and they and my parents like to play pranks on each other so that should be funny. Then Saturday night we’re going out for dinner for my dad’s 70th birthday. And then flying home on Sunday. Should be fun if a whirlwind trip. I’m going to need a vacation from my vacation!
Have a good weekend y’all!
blurf
Packing. Tomorrow is the trip to Iowa.
Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts - they must be working, 'cause my Dad is doing some better. He’s still in ICU, but his fever is down and he’s more lucid. I suspect he’ll be in hospital for at least a few more days, though, because they still haven’t determined exactly what sort of blood infection he has. Forgot who asked up thread, but he’s not far but I can’t get to see him right now (he’s in Philly and I’m in the DC area).
Good luck in Iowa, Bobbbbio! You should have a pork tenderloin sammich while you’re in Iowa, btw - or at least a couple of bites of one (forgot how huge they can be! ).
I’m not dressing up for Halloween, but I think my favorite costume as a child was the witch one … and I even did that several times as a young adult!
Happy Thursday - almost to the weekend!
I had already known for quite a while that I’d reached middle age, but it’s now definite. When you find yourself thinking that the majority of 20-somethings are immature, self-centered idiots, you’re middle aged, right?
Yeahbut… what if you think so yet still long to be one of them again?
I guess that means I’m physically a geezer but mentally a teenager. Sounds about right, actually… :o
Good luck, Bobbio!
Good thoughts for TarraDad
Happy belated, Rebo
**Kopek **-- when come back, bring PICS!!!
