A Cemetery Walkin' MMP

God no, I’ve got no interest in angst. I didn’t even have any interest in angst when I was in my teens and twenties, I was too busy trying to wrestle control of my life for crapola. The ones who make me think they’re idjits are the ones going “oh noes, I don’t have my whole life figured out!” - no shit? Hon, I’ve got news, no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy and you’re a shitty tactician anyway, never mind a strategist. I never had time for that.

That’s what I meant – I still don’t know what I want to do “when I’m all growed up.”

I just don’t fret about it any more

See, I didn’t have time to fret. And my classmates, either they knew what direction they wanted to head in, or they weren’t sure about the exact address but had a notion of how to figure it out; no fretting there either. Fretting was reserved for things like “we’ve gotten pregnant and didn’t mean to get pregnant until after the wedding - FUCK! All the good restaurants are booked! How am I supposed to feed our whole families?”. And we never expected to plan our whole life… anything beyond “the next six months” was middle age!

… given that right now I don’t know if I’ll still have this same job come November 18th, I’m not even able to plan for the next six months, yet these kids want to plan beyond my current age. I guess it’s there that it hurts, I’ve been riding waves for thirty years and they sound like they’re afraid water will make them shrink…

Yes, that’s usually the way it happens…

Yep, normally if it happens in a different way it’s very much intended.

Looks like you and I are all alone here…?

Nothing unusual about that, you know. Actually, lately what’s unusual is seeing you around here. Why, did you have something in mind?

Not sure… I’ll have to pick it up out of the gutter and clean it a bit before I can check if there’s anything inside it…

A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste… anyway, I’m currently working for a company that recycles dangerous industrial waste, I’m sure we can deal with a bit of dirt.

Ah, so dealing with men with dirty minds is all in a day’s work for you, then…?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffientatin’. Ok, caffienatin’ began at OYKW’s place a while ago but continuin’ at da cave.

Nava and Special1 am I intrudin’? Shall I back out of the room and turn off the lights?

Good luck on the job interview BBBobbio!

Herbs continued prayers and thoughts headed out to your dad.

Have a safe trip taxi!

Ahem.

Oh, am I interrupting something? ::innocent angel smiley:: ETA: apparently swampy and I have coordinated the barging in…

Good healing thoughts for tarrraDad.

Good luck with the interview Bobbio.

Have a fun weekend, taxi!

Is it Firday yet?

Hugs all.

GT

Wait… the lights were on all this time? Am I going blind…?

Morning, Swamps!

ETA: GT, too – even if you came in in the middle…

I ain’t gonna ask if I’m interrupting - I’m just gonna barge right in.

Something that occurred to me at my friends’ wedding 20 years ago - you know you’re getting old when the kids take over the dance floor and you don’t understand their music.

It’s not their fear that their life won’t be perfectly planned out, it’s that the 20 somethings I work with (some of the 30 somethings as well) have this irritating sense of entitlement, and refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

Well ,the game didn’t go as well as I hoped, but it was nice to see hockey, and a lot of my hockey friends. I even got to wish Hockey Monkey Happy Birthday in person.
We had thunderstorms and a tornado watch last night, and I turned the A/C on this morning, since it was 78 in the apartment.
Ruble, pics, please?

Germie, ouch. Glad the car’s fixed, though.

OK, that seals it – I’m almost 47 years young, then! (my daughters and I share discs all the time. Son just isn’t into music at all…)

Hey - we’re the same age! We have fun with music at our house: hubs likes rock and metal, and I like a wide range of music. I like all his music, but he doesn’t like all mine. Most girls the same age as our daughter (11) are into Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, etc. Not her. She likes Evanescence, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Europe, Alice Cooper, and Weird Al. Our son (12) is into country: he really loves Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum.

I’m glad the car’s fixed too: but now I’m imagining our Saint as cute and green and playing a banjo.

We had a thunderstorm last night. I was up watching the lightning show. I am SO not awake.

OK Ann, now I’m starting to wonder if I know you. I, too, am 47. Where did you go to college? I graduated from HS in '81.

Everyone else: I’m having trouble upon trouble in my life! I’m not a big message-board expounder (despite having lived here at the Dope for the last 11 years) … but there’s been a lot of strife, illness, and tragedy lately, both in my family and the families of my friends. Sigh! Any good wishes or prayers you all would like to throw my way would be sincerely appreciated. :frowning:

I’m a huge hit at work in my Tippi-Hedron-in -The-Birds costume. I’ll have to see if I can get a photo to post. First prize for the costume constest is an extra paid vacation day. $7 worth of thrift store clothes and some Dollar tree birds spray painted black. We’ll see how I do.

Ellen Cherry - Prayers for things to improve for you.

doggio - Yeah, after the $350 for tires a month ago, it’s $1000 I didn’t plan on spending. At least I had the money.
