Ellen, big hugs to you. I hope things turn around soon.
**Annie, **I turn 47 next year too; just a month ahead of you!
I had to take yesterday off to attend to some things, but they were taken care of. In the meantime, more hell broke loose here at work. Nothing I did or didn’t do, but it’s stuff that will impact me all the same. Today, it’s just me and one other person in my branch, and he’s leaving at 1:00. He won’t be here as a co-worker much longer, he’s leaving for an interview, and although the position is only a lateral, he’s going to take it if offered. He wants out of here as badly as I do.
I’m not looking forward to Monday, however I AM looking forward to the weekend.
Think I’m going to have me a few mixed drinkie poos tonight…
I love renting right now. Our kitchen floor was developing some disturbing bumps so we called the maintenance guys and now we have a new kitchen floor. It’s so nice to be able to call someone else to fix something like that instead of just dealing with it because it’s too expensive to fix. That was the default when I was living at the House of Angst in Pirateville. Oh, I can’t wait until that place is Someone Else’s Problem.
Landlady called again today. Didn’t talk specifically about Wednesday but she confirmed that the family next door has moved out (which I suspected as I haven’t seen them in a couple of days). Apparently they decided to take the refridgerator with them as a memento.
Here I sit in the Cedar Rapids airport, waiting for a flight to Mini-noplace enroute home. Hope it goes better than yesterday, when I was delayed 3 hours in Nawfolk, missing my connection before I ever took off. The issue was weather in Detroit…
Anyway, I could not get to Cedar Rapids at all. Any other flight was full or cancelled, and the soonest they could get me here was 11:30 today. Harrumph. The solution? They re-routed me to Des Moines, and I drove 130 miles, getting in just shy of midnight. Counting the time I left my desk to when I went face down in the bed, 14 hours traveling for what should have been a 6 hour effort. I hope it was worth the heartburn.
I think all went well, but I’m not the best at reading people.
That doesn’t sound like a terribly fun trip, Bobbio. Glad the interview seems to have gone well. Oh, and **taxi **is gone for the weekend, so you should probably eastward while thinking of her.
Looking forward to the pictures, Nava.
Got quite a bit done today at work, but I’m very happy to be home. It’s felt like a long week.
Am considering what to do this evening… Suggestions?
OK, new MMP rule - you can’t complain about being old till you pass 50. I have thus decreed. So hush up, you whippersnappers!
**FCD **and I had a nice dinner out. Now we’re in vegging. The house is closed up and the furnace is set - it’s supposed to drop into the 30s tonight. brrrrrrrr
Off to watch Jon Stewart! Tomorrow, in person!!! I prolly won’t post till I get back. Be good! Clean up after yourselves. Use coasters!
Reminds me of what Friend told about what her boyfriend’s mother said of his ex-gf - that the only photo of her in the house is on the coaster at the bottom of her ashtray.
I will admit to not reading this week at all. Crazy week. But I am finally home. Whoohoo! I left Houston at the butt crack of dawn this morning after arriving there at the butt crack of dawn yesterday. I was home for lunch so mr ems took me for shrimp tacos which were delish so supper will not be anything really tonight. Plans for the weekend include being lazy, getting a pedicure and being lazy. Nighty night!
MOOOOOOM have fun at the rally, No panty throwin’!
Speakin’ of coasters, several “coasters” in da cave are actually big heavy ashtrays. Ok, da bear does not smoke anymore but even when I did, I never did in da cave. The ashtrays are gifts given over the years and they make ideal coasters as they’re big enough for everything from wine glasses to coffee mugs.
I’m all avant garde like that!
Rumbly tummy is demandin’ to be fed and brain is demandin’ more caffiene.
Mornin’ all; I’m up and caffeinated and just surfing the internet for a bit before heading out to the grocery store.
Dad is still in ICU and really there has been no significant improvement in his condition. He’s got bronchitis and a UTI, and may also have an E.Coli infection, plus they still are not sure what sort of blood infection he has. On top of all this, we (the kids) can’t get any information on his condition from the staff at the hospial because none of us are listed as his contact person. Any changes to that pretty much have to come from him, and he’s still not all that coherent/lucid. His contact person is his former partner, but he’s been in touch with several of my brothers and is going to try to see if he can get the contact info fixed. My Dad has asked that his brother be and other close friends be contacted, and now he’s agreed to have his little Boston terrier boarded … his brother is the last sibling left. I may try to get to Philadelphia some time next week.
So, I’ve been laying pretty low. Prayers and thoughts are still needed and greatly appreciated. Hopefully there will be better news coming soon. In the mean time, thanks to all of you; I’m thinking of all of you as well!
