A Charitable MMP

I love snow, too. I made my family go up to Vermont one winter, when our CT winter was virtually snow-free. :frowning:

I actually have to go into work today, on Yom Kippur.

Long story, stupid story, but here we are. I’ll be there for a few hours, then back home.

I’ma try this multi-quote thingy…

I knew there was something about Nelly. She’s the first dog I’ve seen who actually went out and got a job. I keep telling Zelda to get a job, but she refuses.

I have yet to figure out how St. James becomes Santiago in Spanish. I can usually puzzle through translated names, but that one defeats me.

Took the city bus yesterday and today. I can’t remember if I mentioned it yesterday, but I parked down at the local Evil Chain Corporation and caught the bus there yesterday. Today I parked at the Closest Grocery Store parking lot and tried that bus. I like the grocery store one better, the bus goes by that stop twice (in case I miss the first one) and it goes down my street. I’d actually catch it there, but it stops at an apartment complex and the only person I knew who lived there moved back west last year. Either way, it saves me gas and now I don’t have to worry about when the university and the city will team up to eliminate free all-day parking on the side streets around campus.

It’s kind of weird being the only white person on the bus, though. In some ways this place is still stuck in the late 1950s.

Don’t ask me, as I’m not clear on it either. I know that Jaime, Diego, Iago (therefore Sant Iago) and Jacobo are the same name. How do we jump from the last three to the Jaime is what I don’t quite grok, but it’s the Jaime that’s clearly linked to the English form.

Ugh. I am so not a morning person. Why can’t I start my day at noon.

Welcome Back McUne!!

Soapy, Hawkeyeop elected to work today. He’s going to be so weak by the end of the day. I have no idea why he does this, but he does. Every year he talks about taking the day off, then ends up working anyway. It’s nuts!

Later Gators!

Morning all. I like snow too. And I like snowy winters better than just cold winters. It’s much better if you can be outside doing stuff in the snow than if it’s just cold and miserable.

This week seems to be dragging on. Blurgh. I wanna go home!

Put me down for liking snow, too. I love snow.

Morning! Dinner was good last night, remarkably unstressful, Nat was an angel 9he woke up and cried from 12 to 1, but that’s later) and I embarrassed Mr. Lissar by pulling out my own bottle of hot sauce. I think i ate too many rum balls. Yum.
A little running around today, and some unexciting chores. I should phone the doctor and books an appointment for Nat, because I guess it’s possible that he just needs to spend an hour crying in the middle of almost every night, but if she can refer us to a sleep specialist, that would be nice. Ergh.

zoooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Rebo done killed da thread.

I love the picture that goes with this news story.

Ah, Metro News of the Weird. How I enjoy it.

Blargh.

Spent most of today gabbing with my coworkers. It’s still ludicrously quiet… I’ve opted to take tomorrow off since at least I know I won’t be missing anything, and there’s lots of housekeeping to be taken care of.

Twas an interesting evening at Chez Mahna… The Boy spent most of his evening doing laps between the bedroom and bathroom thanks to antibiotics the neighbourhood clinic prescribed.

The worst part is that he didn’t even need the antibiotics in the first place. We both caught a cold a couple of weeks ago, and while I got over it within a few days, he’s had some lingering symptoms that just won’t go away. He was a bit concerned, so he decided to get checked out at the local walk-in clinic just in case… and what does the doctor do? Spends two minutes scribbling in his chart and then sends him on his way with a scrip in hand.

That doctor deserves a smack upside the head for handing out antibiotics like candy instead of doing the responsible thing and explaining that the only cure for a viral infection is time, plenty of fluids, and rest.

Idiot doctor. You don’t need antibiotics for lingering symptoms.

Okay, odd question- I have this evening or wedding dress from 1902-5. It’s cream satin. The inside is in terrible shape- the lining shredded, I tried to make a replacement, it didn’t work.I don’t want or need it, but I can’t think what to turn it into, or what to do with it- I don’t want to throw it out.

Suggestions?

Of course I still love you, Noonie!

I also love snow.

Today was interesting/frustrating. We went to the place where we’re thinking about selling cookie dough and apparently, even though they’ve got at least 15-20 booths open, there’s a waiting list which you get put on until they decide if they like your product enough to want you to sell it.:smack:

Ahem. So, tomorrow my application will be submitted and we’ll see if they like my idea more than they like their empty space.

Antibiotics for a virus is one of my pet peeves. It drives me crazy that it’s the common answer for everything. Maybe the doctors who hand them out like candy will be the first ones to get antibiotic-resistent illnesses. Grrrrr.

Good luck with the idiots running the market where you want to sell, Pie!

More importantly, you don’t need antibiotics for a virus.

Especially when the freakin’ antibiotics are known to cause gastro-intestinal symptoms in a whopping 1% of the population AND the guy just recovered from a goddamn ulcer. I get madder and madder just thinking about it.

Pie, I guess they want to make it seem all exclusive n’ stuff. Kind of like a nightclub that keeps your freezing in line outside for half an hour, only to get inside and realise it’s half-empty. I’m sure they’ll love your product, though.

Off to the in-laws for Yom Kippur. Tah!

I dunno LiLi. Curtains? Lampshades? Slipcovers? Weird bride costume for Hallowe’en?

Look! It’s MCUNE! YOOHOO!!!

Howdy y’all! One more day at the old gig then I start the new gig. I’m still a little weirded that I did this so fast. Happy but weirded.

Dindin was some heated up beef stew from the freezer.

It’s still a little stormyish here. I may have to get off’n da puter soon as I hear some thunder rumbles.

CutiePie they’ll love the idea. I mean, who doesn’t love cookies after all!

Ima go surf a bit before I have to turn off da puter.

Later Y’all!

I beg to differ. If someone has been fighting a nasty virus for a significant time, their immune system is weakened and may not handle a second attack from a bacteria that could be fought off under more normal circumstances. In a case like this, an antibiotic is appropriate.

Just to be clear, not a cold or flu virus, but one that causes lower respiratory problems would be a case; there are others.

Home.

Silly market. Of course they have to let you sell cookies, Pie!

I like limited amounts of snow.

No idea what to do with the dress, LiLi. But there’s gotta be something…

Out to spray side two of ceiling fan blades.

Big fun!!!

GT

Je suis ex-haus-ted!

Gotta do some chorus PR stuff - I may be back before bedtime - then again, maybe not

I got off early and went to the laundromat. I set two records today. I did 5 loads of laundry at one time, and I had 11 asthma attacks at work(Go me?:dubious:). 24 hours till puck drop.

I hate snow, because I have to cut hours and work even more. I wonder if Nelly likes it?

My at the office work week is over - yay! Sloppy joes have been made and consumed, with excess now in the freezer. FIVE DAYS OFF!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

That’s all I’ve got.

MWAH!
