Just got a call from one of my best friends from high school. Her mom died this weekend - she was 81. Thankfully, it was a quick and apparently painless passing. I hadn’t seen her in years, but she was a really sweet lady, one of the “cool” moms back in those days. Even tho it’s sad, I’m smiling just remembering her. Rest in peace, Marge…
**snowbunny **- I can send Bernie to you to keep you warm! No, really, I don’t mind!
Does she have hair? When I met her she didn’t! It’d be mean to send her here with no hair right now, being an old lady and all. Though I have yet to meet a dog that doesn’t get happier the colder it gets, aside from warm-weather pups like a few chihuahuas! I think it’ll warm up (relatively) after the weekend, at least for a bit. Last year it snowed right about now but it didn’t stay around. Apparently this is normal for October.
I really like this weather. Except that somehow in moving I lost all my gloves. I know they’re around here somewhere, but damned if I know where. I need to get another pair, and it’s not like I can’t use another pair anyway!
I’ve just kind of skimmed, but wanted to say to congrats to Swampy on the new job. I know you’ve been a little unhappy at the insurance place.
My daughter bought herself her first ever cell phone today. We put her on our plan, but were smart enough to add unlimited texting. Damn good thing too, because she’s been receiving and sending messages like a fiend since about 4:00 this afternoon.
We already have snow in the mountain passes!
We had breakfast for dinner tonight. We drove on down to the local little airfield to order and eat said breakfast.
I guess I don’t have anything of real import to add. Hug and smooches to all.
Hope you’re feeling better than your later post let on, though…
Hey, I like snow, too. And yes, you’re still insane So am I, I suspect… :o
Very quiet day, here – country literraly shuts down for Yom Kippur (as in, customarily, people just don’t drive on this day. Too dangerous, anyway, kids on bikes all over the roads and the superhighways, taking advantage of this convention!) It’s nice, one day a year, to shut down completely like this – and this coming from a guy who is as atheist as they come.
OK, I’ll stop the smiley abuse and turn this over to the next poster!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. YAWN Need more caffiene!
It was stormy for a while last night. Kinda nice. I went to bed early durin’ a storm and slept all night.
Special1 actually that sounds kinda nice. A whole day where nobody drives. I’ve been known to spend two or three days without drivin’ when I’m off work and around da cave. To me it’s nice not to have to go anywhere. Then again, I think I could be a hermit with no problem.
Sounds like Puggy is havin’ a blast!
Since there are people in this room who [del]are insane[/del] like snow, I’ll go ahead and put out the No Snow signs so it’ll all head north.
Ok, time for some more caffiene, followed by brekkies and work purtification.
Hello everyone! Yes, I’ve been MIA for a while. I’ve had too many irons in the fire so to speak, and haven’t been online much at all. Been trying to balance everything and it’s easiest to let the forums go.
First a big thanks to GT for posting recipes on the blog!!! I’ve still been reading that and can’t wait to try some of the new ones out.
Nothing has been wrong, in fact things have been great lately. I’ve found that being away from online has done me good, even though I’ve missed all the people here. This is the first MMP that I’ve kept up with! You all are quiet this week too!
Yup, I’m up really early today and thought I would check in. I have a double ear infection and the meds haven’t kicked in yet, and the ibuprofen wasn’t cutting it for pain, and I just couldn’t sleep longer. Despite all the pain, this couldn’t of happened during a better week, since I only work two days this week. Tuesday and Friday. I’m so lucky. I also have to brag on my husband. Last night Jason he me I am under strict instructions to take it easy today and get better. For some reason this is really wearing me out.
All I want to get done today is to read a few magazines that I haven’t read through yet, and to wrap birthday and un-birthday presents for this weekend. Oh and a nap today after hubby gets home. I sleep so much better next to him.
I am debating about starting some soup, since homemade soup makes everything better, but we will see.
Have a great day all! I will pop in as time allows.
Oh, and yays, boos, hugs, all around. I had a ton of comments, but can’t remember them right now.
hiding behind a doorframe Eh, Pie, love, are you all right? Are vases about to start flying?
LiLi, stop talking about cau… c… eeeegh…
Puggy, I’m iiiiiinvyous
“Santiago y cierra España” is an old rallying cry, from the time of the Reconquista. Something like “for St James! Soldiers of Spain, close ranks!”
But St James being July 25th, a national holiday and smack in the middle of the big vacations period, nowadays many people say it actually means “it’s St James! We’re closing down the country!”
Hey, McUne, TP had a baby girl!
I should be worried. I mean, I don’t understand why am I supposed to do half the things I’m supposed to do at work and there isn’t so much “a lot of things about this project I would have done differently” as a single one (the whole design). So I should be worried. But I’m not, it’s more like apathy. So I’m kind’a worried that I’m not worried, only I’m not really worried and* I’mstartingtosoundlikemymother!* And that does worry me.
I love the idea of everything shutting down for a day. That was one of the coolest things about our worst snowstorm last year. There were no cars on the street for a while, so people who were out were walking in the middle of the street.
Hey McUne! Nice to see you back - and glad things are going well (except for the ears - hope they’re better soon).
