A Charitable MMP

For some reason I thought Canadian Thanksgiving was just a couple weeks before ours, wonder why I was so sure of that? Odd…

ETA: Two in a row! Hot damn, I’m on FIYAH! snerk

After a nap and some Advil I was able to make an awesome dinner of Roast Beast, Rosie’s Potatoes, and green beans, gravy and bread. Yum!

We watched “The Rose” for the umpteenth time. I always bawl at the end. Bette Midler is wonderful.

Off to surf…

Home, tired, Canes Win!!! WOOOOO!!!. I had a whacko call yesterday. When they moved the store from up the street to the new mall, they reused the old registers. They didn’t update the phone/address info for the receipt tape printer. Anyhow, Tinfoil lady called, screaming about fraudulent receipts, and such. She threatened to sic the Chamber of Commerce on Dollar Tree. :dubious: I gave her my DM’s cell number. Payback’s a bitch.

Happy Thanksgiving CanaMumpers! The time between Murikin Thanksgiving and Christmas is the exact amount of time it takes to thaw and cook a turkey.(Fake fact # 12)

Nava, I agree. Heck I have to train my DMs to do their job sometimes.

FCM, if SIL is like a dog, are you gonna swat him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper?

Yay for Pie!!!

I’m awake early again. Not too much to report.

Me, too, **Pie **- no, I’m not stalking you. As far as you know…

Anyway, I had an email from **kai **last night. She’s having some problems getting to the boards, so she asked me to pass this on: *

*I think something is living in our garage woodpile. I took the doggies out, and Bernie went crazy - so much so that she didn’t go pee at all. I will drag her out before we leave. Anyway, I suspect a mouse or similar mini-vermin.

We’ll be outta here in about an hour. The kids seemed to have a good time at the RenFaire - they certainly had a loverly day for it. We’re expecting more of the same today - no idea what that means for the boat show. I was reading that advanced ticket sales were off - probably due to the economy. But that’d be fine by me - the fewer people getting in my way, the better. I’ll tell ya all about it in tomorrow’s MMP.

I should probably brush my teeth and dress - even tho the show has no dress code, I think barefoot in a purple robe isn’t the best choice.

MWAH!!

SmartiePants I’ll leave it up to the new workplace to teach me all that stuff. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Last night was fun. We got back to da cave around 9:30 (yeah we’re wild party animals) and crashed. I’m up cause I have the chicken/broccoli casserole in the oven bakin’. I figure bake it now and reheat just prior to chowtime. Plus, we are goin’ to church tomorrow. A prospective Priest will be Celebrant this mornin’, so natch we gotta go scope him out.

Ok, I am in dire need of more caffiene.

Up and off to work.

Good morning! I kept waking up and falling asleep again and may have put 8 hours together anyway.

Up for one more round of paint, then: concrete!!! Woo hoo!!!

Hi folks.

Thanks for all who expressed concern and sent PMs. I really appreciate it. Things are better- I don’t want to get into all the details here, but I’m feeling optimistic that I’m on a good path. The decisions that I’m making feel right.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Morning. We’re up, Nat’s had his first nap, and I think the whole family might get to go to Mass. I don’t want to work tonight. Two more shifts. I refuse to do anything tonight or tomorrow. I;m going to read and hang out.

Yawn. Could have used a little more sleep.
I’m glad that things are a little better, Soapy.

Since it’s starting to snow, I thought it would be good to share a recipe for Make Your Own Hot Cocoa Mix. This originally came from the back of the Food Lion Baking Cocoa can.

1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
(you can also add powdered milk here iffin you want)

Mix together, keep in a can. When it’s time to make a cup add

hot water (of course)
sugar to taste
milk to taste
a dash of vanilla or an Adult Flavoring if that’s what the situation calls for

Mix it up and drink. The best part is you can make this as chocolatey or dilute as you want with each cup. Down with the tyranny of Swiss Miss!

Posted your hot chocolate recipe, Spaz.

Glad things are going better, Soapy.

Baseboards and door frame are done.

Off to work on front steps. Yay!

Good morning everyone. I’m up and the coffee is done. We had a lot of fun last night, but didn’t get home until close to 3:30 am. I’m feeling pretty tired, actually.

Soapy, I’m glad you’re doing a little better.

You must have been tired when you read those directions, Smartie, because it truly is a simple game.

I hope there’s nothing going on today. I don’t want to go anywhere or do anything.

Napped. (Yeah, that wasn’t on my list earlier, but I was tired.) Put second coat of paint on the floor. Might do one more coat tomorrow.

Have started chiseling further at the steps. Decided that powerwashing the steps isn’t happening I don’t have a GCFI outlet close enough and really don’t want to mix water and electricity for such a small job. I’ma brush and hose them off as well as I can and then it’ll be time to mix stuff up. Big fun!

Back to the trenches.

Pot roast is crock-potting. Maybe for tonight, maybe not. Depends how late we want to eat.

Going to make stuffed cabbage rolls for Sukkot (yes, another Jewish holiday. Sept/Oct is packed!). Cook them off tonight, eat on Tues/wed after they sit for a few days. More yum that way.

I. am. so. sore. My squatter is definitely broken. I could barely feed the dogs this morning! (It was for a good cause, it was for a good cause.)

I’m a little better this afternoon, but not much. I’m doing laundry and I’ve been grocery shopping. I’m also boiling a chicken to make King Ranch Chicken for dinner.

I really appreciate that Mumper’s Recipe site! It’s so easy to access recipes now.

Mmmmm… cabbage rolls. If you ever want to trade in the kids for someone more well-behaved, Soapy, let me know. I’ll be there with fork in hand.

It’s been a glorious Thanksgiving weekend so far. The weather is gorgeous, and the only downside is that Mumsy Dearest had to cancel her visit due to a bad flu (then again, that’s not entirely bad… ) Since The Boy is working today, we’ll be doing our mini-Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

I’ve finally decided on the following menu:

  • Sage and Lemon Thyme Roasted Chicken (can’t justify turkey for just two of us…)
  • Spiced Rhubarb Chutney (made with cranberries instead of raisins)
  • Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges with Ancho Chile and Cinnamon
  • Granny Smith and Celery Root Salad
  • Apple Walnut Tartlets with Maple Syrup Ice Cream

…and then I’ll spend the rest of the week at the gym, trying to work off all those calories.

Spaz I have that hot chawklit recipe thanks to Food Lion. Fun filled fact… Food Lion bought out a local grocery chain called Harvey’s. However, since Harvey’s is so well known around here, FL kept that name. Thus, the store brands in the FL/Harvey’s stores are Harvey’s and FL. Like there’s probably any difference.

Lunch was good. Bloody Mary’s were good. I’ve been doin’ a little cave spiffin’ this afternoon also. I need to dust and run the vacuum in the study and guest room. Also, I should at least mop the guest bathroom. Just for the sake of sanitizin’ even though it’s hardly been used in several weeks. Or maybe not. We’ll see what type of motivation happens.

Speaking of Turkey Time, I gotta start plannin’. It’ll be here before we know it!

Home from the boat show - exhausted and in need of a shower… Then I need to compose tomorrow’s MMP.

Sneak preview - I forgot my camera. grrrrrrr
