Hi all! Can’t stay because we’ve been really busy.
My reporter Debra & I are at the Guardian Center in Georgia following the Fairfax County VA Fire Department’s VA TF1 Urban Search & Rescue unit in a week long drill.
We just finished shooting a 10 hour practice (actually it’s still going on) of a terrorist attack on DC Metro Subway, complete with real Metro Subway cars! That will air tonight.
Anyway, I’ll hit y’all later this week when this is over.
I could buy fried chikin rather than rotissed chikin flytrap. Would that help?
I buy rotissed chikin from Harvey’s Supermarket. Harvey’s is actually owned by Food Kitty, but Food Kitty kept the Harvey’s name even though one can by Food Kitty brand stuff in Harvey’s. Anywho, if I but a rotissed chikin from Harvey’s, it’s like I’m buyin’ a rotissed chikin from Food Kitty just like MOOOOOOM did today.
I’ve had a really productive week; hoping for more productivity tomorrow. Of course, when I get home, I’ve generally been a slug. I did manage to get a form filled out that I have to turn in to HR by Friday, though.
Win 7 is very nice, I think. It’s much easier to find documents than in XP and you can still make it look classic (which I also do; I hate tiles and thumbnails and all that).
I think most large organizations tend to stay somewhat behind Microsoft’s current products. I know we always wait until they’re really stable to move to them. (Our laptops have been on 7 for several years; our desktops just moved in the past year. All of us skipped Vista and I suspect we’ll be skipping 8 as well, unless the next version is worse, somehow.)
Be careful what you put in email as you never know where it will end up!
In the space of 5 mins today, I had two come back to me, one personal, one irk where they decided to forward/reply what I sent & add people. :smack:
It wasn’t too bad though, the irk one I forwarded an email to someone else & said, “Hey, they aren’t doing ___, this is a problem.” So I only loose some face in punting a problem to someone else rather than handling it myself…unless I put the spin that I was escalating it.
I *just *had dinner (nukealated something frozen), now off to horizontal positioning.
Home from work. Is bedtime. Why do I have to pass a training program where I have to identify ingredients of product I don’t sell, and it takes away one of my chances to pass if I’m called to the front?:dubious:
Today is the big job fair. I was planning to get up at 4:15 to get ready, but I woke up at 3 and couldn’t go back to sleep. So, I’m just sort of relaxing for a few.
It’s a windy morning. We’re supposed to have 50mph gusts today/tonight. Oh, joy. Wind makes the dogs nervous. It should be an interesting day.
I’m getting ready to head out to do the grocery shopping this morning, and that’ll be about all I accomplish today, I think. I’m tired. I only slept for about three hours. Maybe tonight, I can sleep better. Time will tell.
I am at irk, the IT guy was already working on my PC when I got here but fortunately the girl who sits opposite is off this morning so I am logged in on her machine. I will be productive, and in a couple of hours (hopefully) I can go back to my side of the Great Divide
Pub was fun last night, we will be two instead of four next week as one of our friends is off to Portugal for a week to help her brother get over the shock of turning 40, and her partner is taking himself off to Welsh Wales to go sea fishing instead.
Up early again, thanks to my bladder and the dog. Oh well… Taz has been sleeping almost non-stop since we came home yesterday. I was a little worried, but when I got up to pee, I think he did too - he left the bedroom, then came back. Goofy cat.
It’s supposed to warm up today. We’ll see how that goes. I need to do some laundry and I’d like to hang it out. But it’s still dark and very cold - I’ll start the washer a little later.
I’m thinking I’ll have some studio time today. That’s as much thinking as I can manage for the moment. Happy Thursday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 72 for the day. Tomorrow and Firday we are bein’ told rain/tstorms/apocalypse, especially for Sattidy. Temps in the mid to upper 70s however so there’s that.
StickyBuns good luck at the job fair!
doggio for the same reason you should always keep a stock of discontinued items.
Spidey I did the same thing re an email yestiddy. The email to my boss’s boss’s boss wherein I pointed out where the bottleneck tends to be resulted in a fire bein’ lit under the bottleneck folks. Suddenly approvals go through! So I “escalated” the problem upstairs so to speak. Works for me!
gigity Ashburn, Jawja is not too far from you. They are havin’ a “Fire Ant Festival” this weekend. I blame them for the impendin’ rain/tstorms/apocalypse. Who in their right mind would want to celebrate #%*&#!@ fire ants! I think you should go and do a story on stoopid folks who celebrate stoopid things.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is hongry. Then, alas and alack irk purtification must commence. I have to go over to the east forty for a couple of hours today to meet with some folks. Joy.
I. Hate. Fire ants. One of the few things I DON’T miss about Cottonfield County. The only thing they’re good for is pouring molten aluminum into the nest to make waaaaaaay cool castings of the excavations. The fact that the lil’ bastards die a fiery death in the process is a plus.
Wastin’ some time before I head over to the east forty. Matter of fact I’m still at da cave as I see no sense in goin’ to the orifice first. I’m all of twenty miles from where I’m headed and can leave at eight-thirty and get there easy-peasy.
Just because I knew y’all were curious, here’s a link to the fire ant festival. Maybe I should pour some molten aluminum over Turner County, Jawja.
Good morning all. 29 degrees when I left the house the morning. It’s supposed to get up to the mid-50s by the end of the day, so I guess that’s okay?
Had one contractor come over to take a look at the porch roof rot. Says that he’ll have to dismantle a good deal of the structure to see how far the water has traveled over the years and what the extent of repairs need to be. And he confirmed what we thought was the cause - crappy siding installation from about six years ago that ended up channeling a lot of the water into the porch roof instead of away from the porch. So that’s going to be fun. I’ve got to arrange an appointment for him to come back to do this work.
I hope everyone else has a good day today. No damn camel sightings at irk this morning.
Gaaaaah. I got up early this morning because Roomie had the early shift at work, so I needed to walk the dog. Everything was going swimmingly and I was on track to get to work at 7:30 and get out at 4:30, but then Co-Worker called–she was up all night with a pukey kid, and called out today. Since Boss already took her optional holiday for her birthday today, that leaves me alone and now I have to stay until 5. I don’t mind the being alone part–I can handle the work, and at least this way I don’t have to wonder if anybody at all is going to help me do it. It’s the fact that I worked so hard to get out early and now I can’t.
The Fire Ant Festival looks like fun! I hate those little buggers as much as anyone, but it still looks like a fun weekend. More fun than our rain-soaked couple of days.
We’re back from the gym and I’ve got a load of laundry started. I figure I can get 2, maybe 3 loads on the lines today. Later this afternoon, I plan to play in clay for a while. And in theory, we’ll get close to 60° - I’ll believe it when I see it. Meanwhile, it’s all the way up to 27°, but at least the sun is up.
