gotti, what in the world would I think CBT stands for? ::innocent face::
I’m all numb, I called the dentist today because my tooth was acting up, expecting them to call me in some pain meds, but instead they created an emergency appointment for a root canal (appointment was tomorrow anyway ), so I didn’t get to take my valium until like 10 minutes beforehand, and then she wouldn’t take my word for it when I tried to tell her it wasn’t enough Novocaine, so she prodded around after each shot (3 in total), and then had to use some kind of other stuff anyway after that, and it still hurt, but not enough to make me want to hit her.
So, I’m going to hang out at home with my vicodin and penicillin and take a nap.
::Waves enthusiastically at Haze. Also at Roo. And again at SO::
chaosboy, that is not a convincing innocent face.
Today was:
Draft document with colleague; attend LONG meeting; finish document started above; respond to a few e-mails; be depressed about how much I didn’t get done; start working on stuff for auditors. Catch bus just in time to miss rain. I’m due to be soaked any time now. I’ve lucked my way out of several downpours this year.
Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! Ow!!! I just stubbed my baby toe! Did I mention: Ow???
Little brother is spending the night in Columbus and will be camping here, so I’m taking advantage of the opportunity to:
sort laundry so that I can wash stuff tomorrow.
sort out paint-related stuff and put neatly in bedroom
sort miscellaneous mail
catch up on personal e-mail
have dinner (I have black beans simmering on the stove right now; I think I’m going to have pita with beans, ham, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes…)
Woohoo! I may have just found a contributing writer for the blog. And he speaks gooder English! And he can spell! He can spell and he can write. And he offered his services. Maybe I should make a Doper of him so I don’t lose track of a rare breed of human whose language education didn’t come from eBaum’s World comments and text messages.
Oh, and it’s raining like the clouds have a grudge against the ground. But that’s okay, at least it’s cooling things down.
I think you have to subscribe to see it… I’ll try.
No–clicking on Roger Ebert takes you to his Movie Answer Man page (excellent, btw) and then to his blog–where you can wade through about 133 entries to get to mine. I’ll have to scan it in and post it (maybe tomorrow. Today I’m too busy fending off the paparazzi).
Back from pharmacy (one of the creams was $50. Jesus) and picking up #1 son. He has to drive everywhere to practice for next week’s BTW. I’m sorry to say I don’t like the way he drives. But he is rusty, so perhaps it’ll get better. It’s not that he’s unsafe, he just accelerates too fast (he actually doesn’t go all that fast overall). Eh-nice to have such a stupid problem.
Call me crazy, but bkg soda would not make urine more acidic, no? It’s used as a buffer… Not sure of my chemistry here, but NaCHO[sub]3[/sub] is used to attempt to reverse severe acidosis in blood chemistry in code situations (or it was–I’m OLD. I keep telling you all that). Hmmmm.
To Do Today:
[del]1.make hair appt for me and the boys[/del]
[del]2.go to dermatologist-I now have a rash around my eyes. I look BEAUTIFUL![/del]
[del]3.get to laundromat to wash King sized comforter, dry at home if no more rain[/del]
[del]4.dinner-need inspiration, have ground turkey thawing. I don’t do peppers, EVER.[/del]
5.clean something–something probably needs it and if you think I’m gardening in this heat and humidity you’re crazy!
[del]6. get gas for the car[/del]
7. grade #2 son’s “homework”
8. put together #1 son’s driving stuff so he can take the btw next week.
Yeah gotti the first thing that came to my mind was Commercial Bank and Trust.
donkeybear first, feel better and enjoy the vicodin. Second, with a heavy Fall semester schedule like that, leave the wild side of Little Rock alone, young man. You’ll be glad you did when you get in Pharmacy School.
Dindin tonight was nummy! I do make a righteous sketti sauce if’n I do say so myself. We ate then we appreciated and then ol’ y’all know who had to leave cause he’s got some work to finish up. His office has a state inspection on Firday, poor thing. I guess that means I’ll have to be extra special nice Firday night.
Tomorrow is a telecommute day. YAY!
rigs yay on makin’ the paper and it not bein’ the police blotter!
Howdy, all. All you industrious people! I have not been industrious today. In any way, shape, or form. Unless you could getting a couple more inches of a chemo cap for Ivylass knitted. It’s a cute pattern, and I’m using a bright yellow yarn to make it nice and cheerful. That’s about all I’ve been able to cope with today.
Oh, except for one thing – I made an appointment with the hand surgeon <ulp>. For early August. So we shall see when I can get my hand surgery scheduled; if I can’t do it in August, I’ll have to wait till the November/December time frame, when work quiets down a lot so I can take a bit of time off. Hopefully this is the last surgery I need for a while! (Ignoring the root canal that I really should get – not for an infection, but to install a post that will anchor a crown because there’s not enough left of the tooth otherwise. And then I need 3 crowns. I’ve been ignoring it quite successfully for a year and a half now; I really, really, really hate that kind of dental work!)
I was also a very, very bad girl today. I had completely lost track of the date, so I didn’t remember it was Papa Tigs’ birthday. BAD me! Fortunately, we’d already discussed getting his birthday present in a couple weeks when we go to the big pow-wow in Wisconsin, so it wasn’t quite as bad of me as it could be; I just misplaced the actual day in my (rapidly failing) memory. My excuse is that I’m not feeling good today. That’s always a good excuse, right?
Anyway, back to vegging. And possibly knitting. Either that or just giving up and going to sleep. That’s always a good option.
Ugh. I’m tired and finally home from grocery shopping. OtherEmployee knows the sex of her baby but won’t tell me because she wants to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT to me and GilaMonster. Whatever.
Also, she wanted to know if we needed any help getting ready for the health department. If so, she’ll send in her son. I’m sure it doesn’t seem funny until I mention that her job is cleaning the shop.
I just got home, but as soon as my daughter is done farting around, we’ve got to head out to the store to buy her black pants that hold a crease, white shirts with sleeves, black socks, and black shoes.
I figure I’ll buy her two pair of slacks and two shirts, along with the socks and shoes. That way she can rotate out the work uniform and always have one that’s clean. After she’s been working for a month or so, she can go out and buy another pair of slacks and a shirt.
My daughter starts her new job on Thursday. She’s only starting out with 24 hours a week, but once her training period is up, they may up her hours. I hope so, because she needs to make some moolah. They also told her the way to get raises is to work more hours. She is willing to do that. One of the best parts of this job is that it’s within walking distance of the house, so even when she does get a car and is driving, she won’t have to burn that much gas, or she can opt to walk anyway.
It’s currently 88 degrees here. I wish I was out playing on the water…sigh. **Mr. Taters ** is out on the neighbor’s boat playing.
I guess I should see if my daughter is ready to roll. I still need to buy gas for my rig and pick up a few groceries. After shopping for her work clothes and buying the gas and groceries, I’ll need to come home and prepare dinner.
sort laundry so that I can wash stuff tomorrow.
[del]2) sort out paint-related stuff and put neatly in bedroom[/del]
sort miscellaneous mail (1/2 done)
catch up on personal e-mail
[del]5) have dinner (I have black beans simmering on the stove right now; I think I’m going to have pita with beans, ham, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes…)[/del]
wash and put some dishes away
other stuff I’m forgetting but will add later.(please notice this has moved)
Don’t ask me. rigs started it.
That’s ermmmmm…interesting, Pie. Will you be cleaning things yourself?
I’ve been following the plus size clothing thread … unfortunately for me, it’s brought back some dark memories. Fortunately, I don’t have any ice cream to console myself with! Heh.
GT, you have been quite industrious lately! Hope you enjoy your brother’s visit.
Always good to see SpecialOne, although he’s probably asleep right now. No worries, he’ll likely be here in a few hours for the overnight shift. :waves to Dotty as well:
I don’t know what’s the matter with me lately. I’m not depressed, but am in a funk of sorts. And part of it is making me -not- want to go to work! Maybe I should go back to taking the zyban that I took to help me quit smoking?! I don’t like being in a funk.
No, I haven’t bought bras from anywhere online. I’m VERY picky about my bras and they have to fit just right or I hate them. I don’t trust buying them online.
I have a friend that ordered some stuff from Hips and Curves, but it wasn’t bras. They were very happy with them! There are a few things there I do want though…
EVERYTHING on my list is done and then some. YAY! Leaving tomorrow morning. YAY! SO EXCITED.
Ah. I thought that you had mentioned buying stuff from them before. Their bras look decent and are reasonably priced. Also, they can be returned. I think I’m going to buy some, it’s just tough narrowing down the ones that I want.
Today was definitely Monday at work. The contractors cut through the kitchen wall into the hallway, which left several large holes. It was way too hot today and since the AC had been off since Thursday night, the office was boiling this morning. Everyone was sweaty and sticky and cranky.
[rant]It’s called a holiday, people, that means that you don’t work. Why did I get so many emails on the 4th of July?[/rant] And tomorrow we have a most-of-the-day planning meeting for the coming year’s goals **and **we get to go over our different work styles. Envy me.
The temperature here is officially Too Damned Hot. Santa Clara Valley even got its very own excessive heat warning through Thursday. That, combined with all the smoke makes it difficult to breathe. I know my family is worried this year is going e to be a repeat of 1948, only maybe worse. (1948 was their county’s largest fire on record: 19,000 acres.) Skunk keeps demanding that I turn the furnace down already. Sorry, kitty, nothing I can do about the heat.
Pie, I think I remember that you’re in Ohio? Here’s a link to Kaiser Ohio’s [del]pathetic[/del] array of offerings in mental health. I wasn’t logged in, so it should take you right there. Kaiser loves CBT, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting into a group, probably the depression/anxiety one. Usually, your therapist, and not your psychiatrist, will provide any necessary referrals. If you don’t have a therapist in the Kaiser system, you should ask to have one assigned (they don’t do it automatically). They may offer you a choice of providers, it depends on the facility. If Ohio has a mental health parity law, you qualify (major depression, bipolar, etc, all the big ones qualify for parity) and they can’t limit your visits like they can for someone who isn’t. Oh, and these are definitely groups, not individual therapy. Kaiser doesn’t think individual therapy is cost-effective. Skills groups, like CBT, tend to be time-limited, though, usually 8 - 12 weeks. The ongoing groups are usually support groups, although I don’t see many of those listed. Some, or all, of this may not apply to your local system, though. /way more than anyone ever wanted to know about Kaiser’s mental health programs
Paranoia time is tomorrow for me. Blergh. On the bright side, I might get Thursday off. It’s also time for the Canes rookie camp starting tomorrow. I can just smell the Zamboni.
Glad it’s just a blocked duct, Pie. Hope the CBT helps (Clown/Bear/Transvestite?)
